I was wondering if anyone has had "psychic" situations randomly. Not saying they are psychic, but have had weird things like it.
For example, I was watching Iron Chef with my mum, and in the show, the guy announces the secret ingredient. So he said, "AND THE SECRET INGREDIENT IS..."
And after he said that, I randomly blurted out "crabs!" without even thinking.
The guy continued to say, "CRABS!"
I've had random things like this... I don't even think of them, they just come out, it's weird.
I was wondering if everyone's ever had this, too

I think there's a possibility that some of these instances are (1) real psychic occurrences. Other times, (2) a good guess; and other times it could be (3) something you have a memory of, without actually "remembering" that you know that fact.
Using your example with the third example above:
You may have seen him add some crab earlier in the show, and it was stored in your memory, but you don't actually remember him adding the crab in; you just know that its there.

Well you don't see anything before the show, and the ingredient is hidden. It's just small, weird things

These things happen sometimes and I liked TRILLIONAIRE'S explanation.

Wow. We just had this discussion in my Psychology class about a month ago. And I disagreed about the existence of these events with nearly all of my classmates.
The all believed they didn't exist. I say they do, because I've experienced them. It was about... 4 years ago or so. We were going to be going on a road trip, and we went to say goodbye to my grandparents. At that point in time I'm thinking, "Wow. I'm never going to see my grandpa alive again." 4 days later, as we were driving into my cousins' house in Washington, the doctor called my dad and said, "He doesn't have much time left." 3 hours later, "I'm sorry. He's gone."
Now, I never really spent any time with these grandparents, and this thought wasn't a logical prediction. He was perfectly healthy when we left. No one else could foresee this happening.'
And from this time forward, for the next 6 months or so, things like this happened all the time. Predicting someone was going to call, knowing which episode of a television show was going to be on, and I even found myself able to lip-read. Of course, this skill left me when I no longer had these "experiences."
I don't really know though. It's very weird.

Katie, that's called a premonition.
I somewhat agree with Trillionaire. I'm not really sure about the "good guess" though. There's no such thing as coincidence.
I'm sure I've said this already, but the weirdest thing (psychic-wise) that's ever happened to me, was my 7th birthday party. I had my 7th birthday party, it was fun, even though I got soaked by my stupid cousins with their water guns...
Woke up the next day
Guess what?
Time to go to grandma and grandpa's house for my 7th birthday party!
And it was exactly like the really vivid dream I'd just had.. Was it a dream or was I just completely reliving the day? either way, I avoided the water guns the second time around, but then the next day I realized I'd already lived that day too. I could only remember like a minute in advance, but it was major deja vu. And it didn't leave til I was like 11 or 12... it was weird...
And sometimes I still get these intuitive "twitches", like I'll duck for no reason and not even realize I've ducked until something goes flying over my head, or I'll do a backflip without thinking before the hayride I'm in starts going (I probably would've skinned my legs and broken my neck if I hadn't backflipped out )

This is interesting to me. This happens to my husband a LOT! Especially with the radio and it's downright weird! He'll be humming a song and driving along and suddenly he'll switch on the radio, and the exact same song will be on it!
It's also happened with TV shows like you describe Cam, although I can't remember an exact instance. I remember we were watching our Friends DVD collection and we'd paused the show for a bit and were talking about something. Then we resumed the show and the next line on the show fitted perfectly into the context of whatever we were talking about. We couldn't stop laughing, it was too funny! All I remember was the line was said by Ross, exactly what I don't recall anymore.

These situations happen to us all the time, too. In fact, we always say, 'Another one for the Twilight Zone file'! I wish I'd written them all down, because some are really weird. Sometimes I think someone up there is having fun with us! I think a lot of it is that our consciousnesses are heightened about certain things, so we pick up on coincidences. I also think we're very tuned in subconsciously to what's going on in our little universes, which enables us to "predict" what's going to happen next in some situations. Just like other animals sense trouble - pick up on all sorts of complicated cues instinctively. We probably have a similar apparatus. Okay, I'm done!

Once again, gebbie, there's no such thing as coincidence. I thought you were an old lady... you should know that by now.. Everything happens for a reason.. and if everything happens for a reason, there can't possibly be such thing as coincidence. We just say "it's a coincidence" when we don't want to face the truth.
I do agree with the subconsciously tuned in part though. Cause most of the stuff I know I didn't learn from text books, my subconscious picked it up from people's conversations when I was a kid, and from the TV, and somehow my mind is able to trash the stuff that isn't the least bit true and keep the stuff that is. I can actually just pick something electronic up and know how to use it as if I've had it for years. I'd like to think I'm not the only person that can do that.

This whole discussion is pretty cool, tbh. I dunno if it's really "psychic" but it's like a 6th sense in a way
As brainster said about the radio thing, i'd just randomly start singing a song, then it comes on. It's just small things that are weird like that.
Also with Gebbie's idea... subconsciously tuned in.

It is very hard to determine when such happenings are the result of normal brain functions that we have yet to fully understand, or the influence of the spiritual realm, particularly through demons. In the region of the world I live in, spiritism and animism is prevalent. I am very cautious about such things. Anyway, I have had interesting experiences myself:
Back in 2001, My family went on vacation to the US Mainland. One day, me and my brothers were enjoying an afternoon in our grandparent's house watching Star Wars, and my older brother wanted to buy some soda pop for us, and I chipped in. As it turned out, my soda had one of those "flip-the-cap-and-win-a-prize" promotions going. I won a free soda. On the free soda I claimed, I had won yet another one! This continued unbroken for 7 or 8 sodas, and the only thing that appeared to break my string of free drinks was the fact that we had to return to Guam. Coincidence? Not sure, but I can't claim any paranormal psychic activity either. About 50% of the drinks were redeemed by myself, the others by my older brother for me. I suppose either God was keeping me hydrated and caffeinated, or Me and my brother are both psychic. Or, it was just an amazing coincidence... I can't imagine what the subconscious realm had on its agenda to keep giving me free soda.
Don't think about the number 7! 7 is a bad number! Never even let 7 enter your mind! Any number other than 7! No 7! Never! Hate the 7!..... What number are you thinking of? =D Arr, me games are indefinitely suspended, because o' Real Life® |

Radioguy, I don't think the soda thing is anything more than a lucky coincidence. My family was on a road trip once, and we stopped at a gas station and each bought a soda. 3 out of 4 of them were winners. Each of the new sodas we redeemed were winners. Out of every 5 sodas, there was probably 2 losers.
I personally believe the soda thing has more to do with statistics and biased distribution of winning sodas.
BUT, that is quite obviously not the point of this topic.

Well, I've never had a psychic occurrence of my own, but my grandmother had one.
She had a pot in her hand and was crossing her modest old kitchen, getting ready to cook a simple meal for her family of five (normally six, but her son Stephen was on a road trip this particular evening), when she froze in mid step, gasped, dropped the pot, and said "Oh my God, Stephen just had an accident!" As it turns out, some several hundred miles away, he had.
I tend to be more of a sceptic than anything, but I can't explain this one. Which rather annoys me. >.<
My mother and her two sisters had a similar experience when my sister got into a wreck, though it wasn't nearly as startling.
Nancy (my mother) was working out in the yard when she developed a feeling that "something just wasn't right." Immediately, she called her two sisters, who confirmed that they had just experienced a similar feeling, and the three of them decided to try and get in touch with my sister. Before they could reach her on her cell phone however, they received a call coming from a land line in the same area code. It was my sister. The steering had gone out on her car, and she had veered into a parked car on the side of a residential street. The people who the car had belonged to had witnessed the accident, and had permitted her to use their phone (my sister's cell was out of power) after an ambulance had arrived to check for injuries (there were none).
Yet again, I can not explain it, and it annoys me. >.<
It also annoys me that psychic occurences appear to run on the female side of my family. So not fair!

I may be getting a little off topic here, but I feel that I have to reply. Margaret Mead is fascinating, and Doctor Seuss was a genius.

Ok so, today I was in the drive-thru at a fast food place, and I saw this dude up ahead in the next window. The name "matt" randomly popped into my head. When we got to his window, his name tag said "Matt". I've never met or seen this guy in my life before that.
