Game One Application Currently Closed
Hello all. This is Mr. Crazyideas here with, yet another, crazy idea (go figure). Well, I was originally planning on making a larger, slightly more stats-based social game similar to Werewolf and invite people to play it here, but if I do finish it it won't be soon. So instead of going to that extreme I thought, why not try playing a very simple game? So I thought of this - a Braingle Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament.
Now, I don't know how fun it will be, seeing as it's more or less random chance, but perhaps we could have some fun with it? It is definitely simple to play at least. Rules - Choose between rock, paper, and scissors three different times against an opponent. Rock beats scissors, scissors cut paper and, for some unfathomable reason that no one has ever properly been able to explain, paper smothers rock. Two of the same kind will result in a tie. The opponent with the most wins out of the three chances will move on to face other challengers until the final victor is chosen. If the scores between opponents are tied then there will a sudden death match set up to decide the winner. If there is a tie there as well, then I will be astonished by your psychic link and give you a psychic hotline, but will also announce the first to answer as the winner.
The matches will be done via Google Documents. Each round players will fill out a very short form listing their three choices and once all the forms are in I will tally them up. Please only list "rock", "paper", or "scissors". Do not, under any circumstances, try and be cute and/or funny by saying something like "chicken" on the form. If the robot processors reading the forms do not understand what your choice is, it will be substituted for "Independent". And believe me, that never wins. Once 32 players, or 64 if people are really interested (but that's just insanely optimistic), or three days (or so) have passed I will randomly group participants. [Note: If less than 8 people sign up I will be forced to cancel the tourney and storm out in a fit of childlike rage.] If there are any questions or comments please say them below.
This isn't meant to be entirely serious, so just try and have fun, within the defined parameters of course. Good luck and thanks to anyone who is interested. Don't forget to sign up here -->Registration Forms Have Never Felt So Good
And yes, I do indeed like to ramble on about needless non-sequitters. Also, apologies for the poll options. I suppose you can say that this topic is also my first attempt at being a used car salesman.

This sounds fun, but should be in the game forum. If it's moved, don't be surprised.

You mean games can't be played or discussed here? Oh. I guess I should have been more careful.
I've tried to make a game that involved more than just posting in the game forum once before and I had to ask for permission or something. I thought this sort of thing could be done here instead to circumvent that requirement. Oh well. My bad.

The problem is that if one game is being played in GD, then more will follow, and it takes away from the fact that there's a forum for games. Plus, GD is for discussing general issues. You can advertise this new game in your signature, that would be a great idea.

Also you asked for "What is your password?", most Braingle User may think you want their Braingle Password. It is not even encrypted.

Yes, and it could very well happen that a braingler could accidentally post their braingle password. Especially the younger members here.

But I specifically said (and in all caps too) that it should NOT be their Braingle password. I did it in two places too. I guess I'll change the question to make it even more clear but if anyone posts their Braingle password instead when it says not to three times, then they really aren't good at reading directions.

You know how kids are, actually people in general. Someone may skim over the directions and not read it thoroughly. It should still be in the game forum, and I'm guessing it's just a matter of time when this happens.

I hate to raise a fuss, but I take offense to that. The younger generation aren't a bunch of idiots. In fact, I'd wager the younger generation as a whole is more aware and safe on the Internet than the general older population.
I don't know, I understand I'm not exactly considered a "younger member" any more, but it just bothers me when the older population makes comments which seem to question our basic common sense and intelligence. I know you didn't mean any harm in your comment (quite the opposite, probably), I'm mainly just ranting about what I've encountered in my life overall that's made me rather bitter about the topic. Oh well.
Anyway, I went ahead and signed up using a random password not in all related to my Braingle one- as it clearly said to do. It all seems rather simple and basic, but hopefully it'll be fun.

Oh no, oh no, not another age debate!
(Though Swaff's right...)
And even if people use their Braingle passwords, Roger would never know whether it is or not, unless they put in the comments underneath "that was my braingle password." So is it really that big of a deal?
I also signed up, with a totally new password, cause I'm 18 and can read directions...

I will add my 2 cents to the Google Docs, password saga. As a Mod in 1 vs 100, we use Google Docs for sign ups and answers. We also explain that the password to be furnished is not to be their Braingle password. To the best of my knowledge no one has ever given their Braingle password, but even if they did, we wouldn't know that. All we look at is if when they submit an answer, that the password they use is the same one they gave in sign ups.

Well gee BigSWAFF, I do realize that the youth of today is very observant and well, I suppose they have always been. I was basically referring to the very young here on braingle. I've seen kids as young as 9. In the past, I have even seen a youngster, without thinking, post their full name, address and phone number in the public forums. Just an incident where a very young kid didn't realize what they had done. I wasn't, in no way shape or form talking the kids here down. I was looking out for the very youngest here. If you knew me better, you'd know that I'd not carelessly or purposely offend the kids here. I do have much respect for them - I got 3 of my own, and they are amazingly responsible individuals.

I saw no instructions for signing up so here is my post saying that I would like to be involved with this fiasco.
Well then. |

Well, fiasco's a lovely word, but thanks for the interest. I'm not sure whether you seriously couldn't find the registration link or are merely saying so as a satirical stand against the sentiment that younger Brainglers don't read instructions, but either way I'm going to need you to give me a unique password and please fill out the registration form found below:
I believe, as long as everyone who is on board stays on board, that makes 8.

Google Documents is basically an online system where one can create and share documents. You can also make forms, which is why I'm using it. I will have links that direct you to the form. Fill out the form and then press "submit" at the bottom to send the form in.
Beetle and IFB, if you could both please register here: Registration Forms Have Never Felt So Good
Thanks.
