So this is an attempt at making a game of "Forum Tag." Never tried this before. I thought it might be fun -- pretty much just a simple, novel way to pass the time, but with a few twists to make it more interesting. It will require my using a random number generator, so you will just have to be willing to trust that I am doing things according to the actual random results. This will be run completely honestly and fairly; it would not be fun otherwise. So here's how it works:

- It is played on a 10x10 grid simulating a Park. It is initially empty, aside from four objects (a Tree, a Bush, a Rock, and a Trash Can), but as players join, each will be inserted at a randomly determined space. Players can take turns moving around with just 1 or 2 players, but no game will begin until there are at least 3.

- Players will submit their moves to me privately via PM. Once everyone has submitted their moves (or after 48 hours from when the previous turn was posted -- whichever comes first), I will put together the updated board showing the new positions, and stating the moves that were made. So, all player's moves will be updated at the same time, but they will be made in a chronological order, starting with the player who has "the Arrow," and proceeding down the order and back around to the top if necessary. The Arrow will shift down one position in the order with each round of moves, to be fair.

- Additional players con join in at any time, but they will not be inserted into the Park until the current round is over. A new player will be added at the end of the order.

- Each round, every player receives 3 Moving Points. You can use any number of the points on that turn, and save the rest; however, you can never own more than 6 Moving Points at once. To use the points, just PM me saying, "I want to move Up, Left, Left," or something like that (only up, left, down, and right; no diagonals). I then move you in that manner...but here's the catch: each move is randomized. If you say to go Up, there is a 50% chance that you will actually go directly up one space, a 25% chance that you will go up-and-left, and a 25% chance that you will go up-and-right. This applies symmetrically for all four directions. And this applies to each individual move you make that turn, yet you make your moves all at once, not knowing exactly where you will land. For example, if you say "Up, Left, Left," you might go up, left, left. Or, you might go up-right, left, left-up. There are many possibilities. If any of your moves would potentially put you on a space that is already occupied by an object or another player, that move is cancelled and your next move (unless that is the last one) is executed.

- When the game begins, one of the players is randomly selected to be "It." This player's goal, of course, is to tag another player. To tag a player, the one who is It must move to a space occupied by another player. His moves will continue, if applicable, even after a tag takes place. If a tag takes place, after the round, the tagged player becomes It, and is randomly re-located to any free space in the Park. If a player "runs into" It, the move is blocked, and it does not count as a tag.

- At any time, one (and only one) of the four objects in the Park (Apple Tree, Blackberry Bush, Big Rock, Trash Can) is "Base." Any player touching the Base (diagonal does not count), or touching a player who is touching the Base (again, no diagonals), is Safe. The It player cannot land on any Safe player's space to tag them. Fortunately for It, if more than 50% of the players (including It in the player count) are safe at the end of any round, that Base is deactivated, and one of the other three objects becomes Base. Also, when a player is tagged and becomes It, the Base changes randomly.

- Obviously, one big problem that could crop up is extremely slow play due to inactive players. That is why, after 48 hours from the time one round's results are posted, any player who has not yet PM'ed me his moves forfeits his turn and will remain still for that round, and give up the 3 MP that he received for the round. If a player forfeits three consecutive turns, he is removed from the game, but can re-enter. If a player so removed is currently It, one of the remaining players will be randomly selected as the new It, taking effect in the following round.

Here is the Park:

UPDATE: Here is a list of items and explanations. Some items can only be obtained from the objects in the Park. Others might appear randomly (on a free space) in a Chest at the end of a round. To get a Chest, you will actually move onto the space that the Chest is on. The Chest will disappear and you will get either an Energy Drink, a Snowball, a Teleport 1, or a Base Change.

Energy Drink (limit 3)
Player receives 3 free Moving Points. Does not take effect until after that turn is over. In other words, the player's Moving Points will be maxed out to 6 for the next turn.
Teleport 1 (limit 1 - if a second is obtained, they combine to a Teleport 2 – limit 0 if a Teleport 2 is already owned)
Player is moved to a random free space in the Park, with all player-occupied spaces counting as not free, in all cases. Can be used at any time before, after, or between moves, and does not use any Moving Points. So, a player can say "Up, Teleport, Righ,t" or "Up, Right, Teleport," etc., if he wants to use two points.
Teleport 2 (limit 1)
Player is moved to any free space of his choosing, with all player-occupied spaces counting as not free, in all cases. Warning: If the chosen space is no longer free when the player's move occurs, it will default to a random teleport. So use carefully, or the advantage could be wasted. Make sure to specify which row and which column you want to be teleported to. Can be used before, after, or between moves.
Snowball (limit 1 - if a second is obtained, they combine to an Ice Block – limit 0 if an Ice Block is already owned) – overrides player order, but is overridden by Trash Can Lid
Freezes any player of choice for the round – that is, no moving, no using items. If used in a round, it applies before the order even begins, so it doesn't matter whether you mention it before or after your moves.
Ice Block (limit 1) – overrides player order, but is overridden by Trash Can Lid
Freezes any player of choice until that player is tagged by one of the non-It players. This "Tag" must be executed in the same way as an It-tag (i.e., moving "onto" the same space as the player, not just beside him), but the tagging player will not move to the space, and the tagged player will not be relocated. If used on "It," only has a one-round effect, so the extra advantage is wasted.
New Base (limit 1)
When used, changes which object in the Park is base. A player may choose the very same object that is currently base. Does not take effect until the user's turn in the order, but takes effect at the start of his turn.
Apple (limit 1)
Small possibility of being acquired each time a player "tags" the Apple tree. Can be thrown in any of the four directions. This can be inserted before, after, or anywhere in the middle of the moves, but does not use any Moving Points. So, if a player has 3 Moving Points, he can say "Up, left, throw Apple left, up." When the Apple is thrown, it continues in a straight line until it reaches a space occupied by a player. It then knocks the player out for his next move – that is, no moving, no items. If the Apple hits the player before his spot in the order, he is knocked out for the current round only; if it hits him after his spot in the order, he is knocked out for the following round only.
Trash Can Lid (limit 1) – overrides player order
Small possibility of being acquired each time a player "tags" the Trash Can. Can be used as a shield, on oneself, or on any chosen player. Chosen player is safe for the round that the Trash Can Lid is used. Also, any item used against the player in the round is nullified and wasted (overrides anything, regardless of the order of turns). Base cannot be transferred through this player though; it gives safety only to him.
Compass (limit 1)
Small possibility of being acquired each time a player "tags" the Big Rock. Turns out, the rock is a lodestone, and a chunk can be used to rig a makeshift a compass. The player's moves are guaranteed for the round in which a Compass is used. Diagonal moves are allowed in this case, because the player is essentially choosing a direction, plus which of the 3 random possibilities he wants for that direction. So, for example, a player can say "Use Compass. Down-left, left, Down-left," if he wants to use 3 moves, and these moves will be made with no uncertainty (as long as the spaces are free, of course).
Blackberries (limit 1)
Small possibility of being acquired each time a player "tags" the Blackberry Bush. Can be used to make a Sticky Trap that can be hidden in the grass. It may be set on the user's current space, before, after, or between moves, but will be invisible. The "Blackberries" will remain in the inventory after the trap is set until someone becomes stuck in it by stepping on that space, so that no one knows when it was used (but of course, the player can only use it once, and cannot acquire another until after someone becomes stuck). When the player becomes stuck, it will be made known to everyone at that time, and the player may not move or use items until tagged by another player. "It" is immune to Sticky Traps, but the trap will remain hidden there until it catches someone.

So just post a request to join in, and what color you want to be, and you will be randomly put into the Park You're It.

I'd like to join as blue.

1. extremeblueness, 3 move(s), [n/a]
2. pyro, 0 move(s), [n/a]

EDIT: Also I think I will keep the assigned colors and records (but not the order number or other data) for each player even if they become inactive and get removed.

And also, there will be some secrets and surprises...so yeah...that's all you get to know for now.

I am not sure how well this will work due to the random nature of the moves, but i will try it.

Make me orange.

Shouldn't we all move at the same time? say all 4 players put their moves in privately then the moves are carried out.

Well, whether they are all carried out at once or one-by-one, each player's move would pretty much have to be made in succession. Because otherwise, it would be hard to say whether a tag is made, and there would be some occasions where it would be uncertain whether two players "collided" and were blocked from moving. I was considering having the moves submitted privately though, but they would still be made in an orderly succession, when made. We can do it that way. It does make more sense I guess, especially for making it go more quickly. Thanks for the suggestion. Only thing is that it's a little unfair to people who are later in the order. If you are #1 in the order, you know your move is going to take place with everyone else staying where they are right then. But if you're last in the order, you don't know where ANYONE is going to be exactly by the time your move happens.

So actually, everyone can PM me their moves. Remember, you each have 3 moves (up, down, left, or right).

EDIT: How about this: The player with the first move shifts down 1 place in the order with each new turn. So this turn, it will go "blue, pyro, kitty, max," but next turn, it will go "pyro, kitty, max, blue," and so on.

I will work on updating the rules post soon. Sorry for the last-minute changes but max has a good point.

Ok cool, I think we're on the same page now; this probably is a lot better. Sure sonic. The rule is that you wouldn't normally be inserted into the board until NEXT turn, but I'll go ahead and put you in since we're just beginning.

Just letting you guys know, I updated the rules post. And since this is the first round, I will give plenty of time for everyone to get their moves in. 72 hours from right now is the deadline, just because people like blueness and pyro might not be expecting it to have even started yet.

Good question. It means none of you are holding any items. (Yes, there will be items at some point...still working on it, so I'm not listing or implementing that stuff yet...but soon).

Completely agree xD In fact, 3 out of the 5 dots so far are blue. But obviously I know which 2 you are talking about. kittygirl19, if you would be so kind, maybe you would agree to change? Maybe a little bit darker? Or anything more discernible? If not, maybe extremeblueness will agree to change a little. From now on I will reject colors that are too close to already existing colors.
