A Different Kind of Forum Tag? (Brainstorming Thread)

Hey, if you find my Forum Tag thread interesting, what about this... a different Forum Tag game in which the game does not start until there are a certain number of players (like 10), and then EVERYONE tries to tag ANYONE. When you get tagged you are removed. Whoever is last standing is the winner. And there would be no power-ups/items. And the moves would NOT be randomized. And you could not save moves. Just 3 moves every turn. And in this one, the moves would go one-by-one. In other words, let's say Player 1 has the Arrow. First, Player 1's first of three moves would be made. Then Player 2's first move. And so on, through Player 10's first move. Then Player 1's second move, all the way through Player 10's second move. And then, of course, through the same order with the third moves. This seems like it might be more interesting in some ways. Like I said, there would not be items (the items in the Forum Tag were to add more interest and advantages/strategy...but I think this game would have more strategy to begin with), but possibly randomly placed walls to make unique maps for each new game.

Bounce some new ideas off me. Or tell me why some of the things I just mentioned should be done differently. Any input at all.

I wonder, might it prove too difficult to make tags, since moving away from someone would be so easy to do? Especially when it gets down to just 3 or 2 players left. What could make this better...?

And what methods could be used to prevent a group of two or three mischievous players from deciding to block the game up by never trying to tag each other after they become the only remaining players? Random eliminations if no tags are made for x turns? That seems too arbitrary and unfair... I dunno.

I like the new map idea! However, I think you should have more than 3 MP. Maybe Six?

More MP is an interesting idea. It would make the game go faster, and might make tags "easier"...or at least, harder to not be tagged, since there would be a lot of movement and a lot of mystery.

Even though you can't save the MP for the future, would choosing to stand still be allowed? Or would you be forced to move 6 times?

I think you should be able to stand stil, or make one to five moves and then stand still. The consequence is that you wasted some moves.

i think that if someone stands still it would make it too easy for the others to tag him or her.

Take my Dark Tower quiz. Please!

But what if they actually want to? Having the option can never be a disadvantage. Besides, the other players don't know if you're going to move or not, so they likely wouldn't go after the space you're actually on (unless they're right next to you, and before you in the turn order), because you're probably going to move.

Oh, should diagonal moves be allowed? Or would a diagonal move require two straight moves? Allowing diagonal moves, a player could even move between two blocked spaces, like so:

Diagonal, I guess should be 1 MP and allowed. This would add more strategy.

no diagonlos should be 1 then 2 ten 1 then 2. Mainly beacuse that whaat math shows as true.

Are you saying that each time you move diagonally should alternate whether it requires 2 MP or 1 MP? How does math show that? Euclidean distance would dictate that it takes the square root of 2. But either way, I think it should be the same amount of MP each time, just as a convention.

I am saying the 1 MP the 1st move and 2 mP the second time you move diagonally.

Right, I think we're saying the same thing. As an example, this would fit the rules you are suggesting:
Left (1 MP)
Up (1 MP)
Up-Right (1 MP)
Up (1 MP)
Up-Right (2 MP)
Down-Right (1 MP)

The first is the only to ever have been the only.
