Yay, lots o' Cat People! My Little BB is 16, she's getting old... but I'm going to wait to get another cat, because this is BB's only time to be the Alpha cat, and it took her so long to adjust after her companion, Tiger, died last year... so Ima wait. Then I may get two cats, maybe a kitten and a young cat.
Life... can be so many things... how can anyone ever think they are RIGHT? HAhahahahahahaha!!!!! |

I noticed in my paper's ads today that there were 3 1/2 columns devoted to people looking to sell/get rid of dogs, and only 4 notices concerning cats. Hmmm
It's not what you know, it's what people think you know. |

We have three boy kitties
One in 5, one is 4 and the other is a few months. We're not really sure exactly how old the youngin' is because that's the one we found after he'd been abandoned and thrown into the creek, and he hasn't really grown much since we got him.

aww, man, no way! Someone threw the poor baby into a creek? I'm so glad you got him! Bless you for taking the little thing in, and whether he grows or not, it's a special thing when you rescue an innocent little baby like that! My BB was abandoned in a box in a parking lot with her three brothers/sisters when she was just a couple months old... BB was alone becasue she crawled out of the box, the rest were found together...

I know, and when we went to the vet to see if he was micro-chipped, the vet recognised him and said he was brought in with broken ribs and cigarette burns. Poor kitty.

My little poochie princess Nina went MISSING today!
Normally, she is desperately wanting to be inside after she finishes dinner...but today all was silent!
So we went to look for her...not on her bed, not under the desk, not under the bed, not out the back, not out the side, not near the chicken...heeey! This is getting serious......
So shoes are put on, car keys got, calling her name into the street...
Mr Snappy says...hang on let's check the garage...so the remote is pressed, up starts the door and OUT SHOOTS THE DOG!
"Oh! OH! WHY did you put me in there? How could you leave me in that daaark place...I had no food, no water for MINUTES! "
and she ran back to the front gate, whimpering and complaining...she was beside herself that she had to face this indignity.
We were so relieved to find her, the silly sausage. She must have followed me in when I was getting stuff out of the garage. She normally scoots straight out with me....oh, I had to console her for half an hour...pat her, scratch her, whisper to her...poor little love...she eventually calmed down...
And we all had a laugh at it later...her response was hilarious!

aww, poor little thing! I'm so glad you found her! At one of my previous apt. buildings, there were a couple times when I had the door open, coming in from somewhere or doing the laundry, and one of the cats went out into the hallway without me knowing. The one time I eventually noticed that she wasn't there and looked in the hall, and she was sitting right next to the door, and was strangely still and cold! It was awful! Another time my neighbor from two doors down knocked and told me my cat was in the hall, and there she was, just sitting there, same as before, just all kind of cold and frozen... not from the cold but from fear!
It happened once with each cat, I think, and after that I never closed the door without being sure that no cats ran out when I wasn't looking!
Alli, don't tell me anymore! You mean that someone burned that kitty with cigs, and then took her back and then threw her in a creek? That person should be found and put in the stocks in the town-square for a week!

What are budgies? And I'm allergic to cats too, but that doesn't stop me. Granted, I also don't have bad allergies to them.

Budgies are parakeets. Love those little birds - so affectionate.

Parakeets remind me of one thing, a chipped tooth:
A friend was visiting someone who had a parakeet and the thing started flying around, causing my friend to react in such a way as to chip his tooth on a beer bottle. Some birds are evil.

Oh I've loved hearing about everyone's pets (especially Shawneeo's BB story - i can't believe someone would leave kittens in a box on the road!! It'd have the opposite problem - not wanting to give them away incase the new owner is mean or treats them in a way that I wouldn't want them treated)
I have 2 puppy dogs, both bitzas (bits a this and bits a that) - one has ridgeback and I think pit bull in him (beautiful doggie named Duke, nicknames are: dukey, duke-adoodle, picklehead, pooh-head, stinky, piddle-bum and wiggle-bum) and the other I couldn't say what she is - I think a bit of staffy, maybe some greyhound (lovely dog called Marnie, who's distinguishing characteristic is her ears - one goes one way (up) the other goes another way (to the side). Its most funny when she's trying to look serious (she looks more like yoda) her nicknames are: furry-pants, mah, marsbah, marmite and fluffy-face).
They are two of my greatest little friends, always happy to see me, and always wanting my attention.
They have a toybox (similar to snappytoms pup), and are very specific about what toy they want to play with. Usually, Marnie hogs a toy that Duke wants, so Duke will go and choose another toy and play with in enthusastically (acting), then when Marnie gets jealous and goes to steal Duke's toy, he'll grab the one he wanted in the first place that Marnie was playing with. Very funny!
They both get walked everyday by my boyfriend, and sometimes go rollerblading with him (to tire them out more, they have to pull him along).

Have really enjoyed reading about everyone's pets. Of course I have followed Shawn's BB and the death of his other one. Poor man and BB were both inconsolable. It's painful when you lose a pet. Since I now live in a rented home my landlord does not allow cats or dogs, which I have always had. So instead I bought a mated pair of parakeets. Then a young girl leaving for college needed a home for her parakeet so I inherited another female which is yellow and blue, very unique and different looking. She fit right in because my male was blue and my female was yellow. But my blue bird was my alarm if something was going on with the girls. I have a room off my kitchen that all windows so it is bright and they love it out there, but they also live in three open cages - they go back and forth as there are different toys in each and different types of treats, etc. The new female kept disappearing and blue bird would come looking for her - flying around all different areas of the house letting out his cheep. Nine times out of ten he would find her and she would follow him back to the cages. Now this usually meant navigating two or three doors. It was cute until one night Snowflake (the new female) disappeared and he could not find her, so I figured she would show up in the morning. Nope? No bird. Then I heard her. And funny as it was blue kept buzzing me as I walked by the washer. Sure enough she had fallen behind the washer. We got her out and she was fine. But last week, somehow or other blue got behind the washer and my grandson heard him, moved the washer and we got him out and his leg was broken and he cheeped and cheeped and was in so much pain. If we tried to let him rest in a cage he would just flap and turn in circles. If he could catch his balance he could fly, but he couldn't bear any weight. I held him up on my shirt and talked to him and petted him and he would just peep. He died in my hands after about two hours. Poor Shorty. Tweety bird is so sad she just sits in the corner and looks out the window.
The sound of the wild, but if there is no one there, does anyone hear their howls? |

Oh poor Shorty...I felt sad when my pet chicken Moniques died...now I am down to one lonesome chook.
We had a quiet funeral for Monique. Even Nina the dalmatian attended. They were friends.
Sorry about your loss, vlerma.
