Speaking of grandsons, the old, and wise, if I must say so myself, did my best to keep my daughter from having a stroke from the remark my youngest g.son came home with from pre-school. Mom had asked him if he had learned anything in school today. I don't know why mothers all do that, but we do. After about five times asking him to repeat what he was saying, and mom getting redder by the minute and me trying to make suggestions to help him, he finally said Today in school we learned to "clap", raising his hands indicating just what he meant. And then I laughed until I about had a heart attack. Only problem being Joel's "L's" sound just like "R's". Memory serves me right that I had a son with that same speech impediment. Gotta love him, he's the baby.

The sound of the wild, but if there is no one there, does anyone hear their howls?

Just finished up moving into a condo and this is the first day we didn't have to go back to the old house to pack and move things in.

SMILE and people will wonder what you are up to!

I didn't know how sweet persimmons are. I was expecting a vegetable like a tomato, but they're quite good.

My neighbor has a persimmon tree that has branches that comes over the block wall into my yard... so legally, I can pick all the persimmons on my side as mine. For years I just picked them off the ground and threw them away.

My son in law's best friend was over about 5 years ago during "harvest time" and went wild... plucking a few off the tree. He shared one with us, slicing it up into bite size pieces. I now know to watch for the time of the year (now) when harvest can occur. They are indeed quite good! And they will continue to rippen after they are removed from the tree... as I learned after my neighbors plucked every one of them off the tree about 3 years ago and I missed my chance (and they plucked them to toss them before they made a mess on the ground). So if I wanted any, I had to pluck them before they were 100% ripe. Last year, with new owners, the tree remains, and I "hmmm - sadly (cough) have to take care of all the persimmons on my side of the fence now. Nice tree - nice crop.

By the way, they are technically known as an Asian Apple... according to my wife. I guess I should follow that up with a google search to see if she is right... but after 35 years of marriage - I guess I should trust her on something as simple as this... even if she is wrong!

http://www.seedarea.com/product.php?id_product=38 -- It might be an Asian Persimmon (which is supposed to taste like an apple) -- which means YOUR WIFE IS 110% CORRECT! Quit trying to look things up on the internet just to prove she's always right...

I may not have 35 years of marriage yet, but I'm closing in on the 20 year marker myself: I know when something is close enough to right to be completely right.

Asian Persimmon which tastes like Apple == Asian Apple! And only a young foolish honeymooner would think any differently.......

And you are right on that Steve. I did not look it up on the internet to try to prove her wrong, and yes, she even called it a Persimmon (which of course you looked up on the internet to give a reference! lol)... I did look it up so I could be better informed. At 58, I don't mind learning things and not sounding like I know everything in the world. I would NEVER try out for Jeopardy... I know I wouldn't pass the first round of auditions!

Make your 20th special... it is definately a milestone!
