To be honest, I think you're putting Braingle in too glorious a light if you really think Braingle teasers are free from plagiarism.
Personally I wouldn't have a problem with another site using my teasers, though I doubt that will ever happen. I made them mostly for my own enjoyment, and the two or three people who actually enjoy doing them, so would be happy and perhaps slightly proud if my work was spread like that. Credit or a reference to Braingle would be nice, though... I can see why it would be irksome to have someone else personally claim credit for your work, but I don't think that's really the case in most of these other sites. (The "icy" matter is a different issue, though.)

Two things you have to consider Math, if someone is not directly profiting financially, they are doing nothing wrong. Second, you really cannot speak out on behalf of braingle.com. Someone may take it that you are part owner of this site, and call your messages harassment. Be careful, you may also get yourself in trouble with Jake.

How I interpret the terms and conditions...

The terms didn't really say non-commercial = good. 'This web site authorizes you to view, download, and distribute a single copy of the material on this web site solely for your personal, non-commercial use.' You must only use it for personal use (and so must not display it!) and you must not make >1 copy.

I don't think he was speaking on behalf of Braingle. 'This website does not claim ownership to anything submitted to this website... The copyright owner retains full ownership of any work submitted to this site.' Accusing someone of stealing teasers from Braingle is not accusing someone of infringing Braingle's rights.

Plagiarism doesn't mean illegal. If you copied from Mozart, that's plagiarism, but it's not illegal because Mozart's works are no longer copyrighted.

I checked some of my more popular ones. Then I remembered I took the basic ideas from other sources for most of them.

Hey, EMB, is this the book you're talking about?
Everything Brain Strain book
A couple of the reviews point out what I think has been said.

Technically, our teasers are Braingle "property". So, if someone steals them, they are infringing on the Braingle copyright.

No, some of the site members did, myself included.

What I meant is, Jake 'wrote' that book or published it or whatever, so that isn't an infringement of copyright because by submitting teasers we give Braingle the right to publish them like this.

That contract was separate from the site.
