Ive caught quite a bit of it this year so far and it has been fun. Four years ago I would have been paying special attention to the 1500m run (my signature event in college ) but Ive been watching quite a bit of boxing and volleyball.

Can you imagine what I would do if I could do all I can - Sun Tzu

My main goal was to watch swimming with my daughter, no luck so far. She is typically off with her swimmer friends.
Synchronized diving was pretty cool, and water polo... cripes those guys are treading water the whole time.
The Olympics make me feel so out of shape.

The opening ceremonies got mixed reviews, what did you guys think?

Do any of you guys think the Chinese swimmer is using drugs to enhance her performance?

I thought the opening ceremony was, for the most part, really good... most of the reviews I've seen from around the world have been generally positive, though I imagine there were a few (little) references and bits that wouldn't make sense to many outside of the UK. (I also saw somewhere that some Americans thought Isambard was meant to be Lincoln, the shame.) I was oddly proud that, even on one of the largest platforms to show the world what we want about our country and culture, we still didn't take it too seriously.

i'm glad those accusations got cleared. wow a girl swam faster than ryan lochte must be using drugs!!! if she was a white boy there wouldn't even be a discussion.

favourite moment so far was chad le clos beating michael phelps in the 200m butterfly. plus ruta meilutyte getting a gold, gabby douglas winning the women's all around (!!!) and marcel nguyen coming away with two silver medals. (and every time lochte and phelps were onscreen ok im not going 2 lie)

now swimming and gymnastics are over i'm not watching as much?? trying to get into field hockey but its so boring w/o the ice wow.

Yeah, it's strange how John Leonard didn't also describe Ledecky's win as being "disturbing".

I haven't watched as much Olympics as I'd like to... just not the time.

Some of my favs are pole vault, long jump, and synchronized diving.

Having been bedridden for the last week I would have gone crazy had I not been watching the Olympics. What will I do without them, as I refuse to start watching Soap Operas again. Guess I will have to get busy on the baby blanket I am crocheting for my soon arriving great granddaughter. Zebra stripes on a neon green background. Wish me luck.

The sound of the wild, but if there is no one there, does anyone hear their howls?

I say NBC (the USA network that broadcast the games) screwed up big time. All night long during the closing ceremonies they kept teasing us with, "Still to come, The Who." After 2 1/2 hours of Olympic coverage, they decided to air a new comedy, then go to local news. The Who coverage was shown an hour later.
Boo hiss NBC, shame on you.
