LR, I can only speak for myself. I know I have been doing a lot of reading on Braingle lately... but though I am finding some witty comments, nothing is offensive. A lot of it doesn't make sense, but as long as it's not offensive does it really matter what we have been doing?

You wouldn't consider it spam? :/ Spam isn't necessarily offensive but it also lacks the constructiveness of other topics and topics can be locked for being such. Thus, I'd warrant offensiveness isn't the only deciding factor here. You can argue that needless philosophical self-gratification is wonderful and, somehow, on topic, but at the very least, if you think it is a legitimate topic, then I have the right to remark at how tedious it all is.
Fault Wyse for his silly binary topics all you want, at least what he was speaking on had more meat than purposeless philosophical rhetoric clearly constrained to whatever subject is at hand or on mind. I'd rather discuss cliched questions of "are boys or girls better" than the equally overindulged questions of politics and false dichotomies. Honestly, I hate when people read too far into something. It's one thing to critically examine a work and provide evidence for a new or controversial argument, but it's another to fail to take notice of the person's own intentions and only propose high-flying assumptions instead. I know this is a joke and clearly you fail to take notice of the original intentions - quite too often, I'd say - for comic effect, but really, it's a pet peeve of mine to overanalyse something in the hopes of sounding smart. And when overdone, it's doubly bad.

My sentiments are similar to the above quote. I'm tired of clever rhetoric. Can't we just talk about meaningless things without talking about nothing at all?

If you know my point then you'd know I'm not criticising you, just what's being done. And you can chalk that up to different comic tastes. I don't like it and while I can easily just watch this topic get bumped with nonsense silently, I felt like I didn't want to this time. Nothing much really and, no, not personal.
