k) So you wouldn't take a bullet for me?
I'd sooner defuse the situation before it got to that point, thus saving me a bullet wound and you from having to explain to police why someone wanted to shoot you.
Or, saving you a bullet wound and me having to explain why I didn't jump in front of it. Either way, my solution works best.

l) What's your favourite Jim Carrey movie that isn't Ace Ventura?
Liar, Liar.

m) What is your beverage of choice?
Hot tea, because that's something I'm always in the mood for.

n) What do you think is the most underrated characteristic in a good person?
Discretion.

o) What is your best childhood memory?
I'm going to have to come back to this one. I'm having a difficult time coming up with something worth mentioning.

1) So you say you're a very honest person. What would you do if somebody told you a secret and said not to tell anyone about it or even hint that you know a secret, but then someone else asks if you know a secret and what it is... what would you do?
I would tell the person that I know many secrets, but that I'm not at liberty to tell them to anyone else.

2) What type of job do you have?
Currently, I work in health insurance. It definitely isn't my cup of tea; in fact, it's downright boring, but it pays the bills for the time being. I don't intend to stay forever.

3) Describe your typical day routine.
I wake up at 6, get ready for work, go to work, work, come home from work, make something to eat, then I'll usually try and drag Smithy into the chat room before he heads off for the night. (We're pretty good friends.) After that, I'll watch one of the shows that I have pirated from the internet. Once I finish Two and a Half Men, I'm moving on to the Original Star Trek. Never watched it, but I absolutely loved the movie that just came out, so I want to see how the series is/was. Might play Mario-something in between episodes, and I hit the hay around 11-midnight. Rinse, repeat.

4) What made you want to join the military?
A total lack of direction, for one. That was the main thing. I also wanted to do something that I could be proud of, and I still am, despite having only stayed in for four years. Nothing will ever match the experience I gained, and some of the places I visited.

5) Any religious beliefs?
No, I don't follow any religion, nor do I place my belief in a god. I'm not convinced one way or the other that someone is or isn't out there. Basically, I'm taking the frowned upon approach of "We'll see what happens". I personally feel that far too many people waste their one life preparing to die.

p) How highly do you value education, in general; not just for yourself but for the world at large?
Using its actual definition, I would rate it very highly. (I don't want to say "a lot", it sounds flippant.) I don't know if I need to go into this one; its value should be self-evident.

q) What's the one thing you wish you could change about the world?
I wouldn't bother. Whatever I do would displease someone, somewhere, and I wouldn't want to be responsible for it.

r) How many people do you consider to be truly close friends?
Three.

s) You mentioned King's Island. How are you with roller coasters? The broader question directly related is are you a thrill-seeker in any way?
It took me until age 15 to finally muster the courage to ride one. Now I enjoy them, but I am by no measure a thrill-seeker. I'm actually pretty low key. I don't party, I never got in trouble as a kid, though I secretly envied those who had fun stories to tell about it.

t) If you could slap upside the head any one person in the world, who would you choose?
Kim Kardashian. My alternate would be whoever came up with the idea to take famous couples and call them by one name. i.e. "Kimye", "Brangelina", etc.

1) What is the funniest thing that has ever happened to you?
Here's one that ought to bring a smile to your face: A couple of years ago, I applied for a job with UPS. I showed up for the interview and while I was looking for a place to park, someone else began pulling out right in front of me while I was turning. So, I backed up slowly, having to turn as I did so, and it was at this moment that my brakes decided they weren't going to do what they were supposed to. So, I kept on going backward... and ran into one of the UPS trucks. Scraped up my car something fierce, but caused no actual damage to either vehicle, though it left a little scratch on their bumper. No one saw, and I went inside and aced the interview. This is one of those times when my penchant for honesty got the better of me. At the very end, when victory was all but assured, the interviewer asked, "So, do you have anything else for me?" And me being of a sarcastic nature gestured behind me with my thumb and said very nonchalantly, "Yeah. I kind of hit your truck." Oddly enough, she valued my honesty enough that I still would've gotten the job, but the district manager, who was new, didn't see it that way. So, I didn't get it. Thing is, I wasn't even applying for a driver position.

2) You won the lottery, what would you do?
I'd get myself a nice car. Nothing too fancy; I don't want one so expensive that I'm afraid to have someone breathe on it wrong. And I would go travelling. Off-hand, I only know of a couple of places I'd like to visit. Hawaii, Tokyo, and Germany. Beyond that, I have absolutely no idea what I would do with that kind of money.

3) Name an animal that describes you.
I actually went and took one of those little tests for this one. Turns out, I'm very much like a cat. I got the following description that describes me in terms of being a cat, except for the closet daredevil bit: They are naturally quiet and analytic, often drawn to the field of engineering or trying to figure out how boxes work. But they are also explorers who can easily become bored with a single routine. ISTPs are often closet daredevils drawn to racing, bungee jumping, or jumping off of high countertops. They are "live and let live" types who are not particularly concerned with rules or regulations and would prefer that others not concern themselves with their behavior either.

4) Favorite type of weather?
Snow. I don't fancy the cold so much, but I absolutely love the snow. Everything's so quiet when covered in a frozen white blanket.

5) How are you?
A little groggy, as I've just napped.

Ok, boo, these are some deal breakers:

1) What are your top 5 favorite classic authors?
2) Greek or Roman mythology and your 5 favorite gods/goddesses of the one you choose.
3) What does your dream home look like?
4) What are the 7 superheroes (or sidekicks) you want on our wedding cake?
5) Who is your favorite Disney princess and why?

I hoped you'd enjoy that one.

1) Is there anyone you look up to?
Honestly, no, not particularly. Though I have to give my mother her due credit. For raising three children on a very tight budget, and for being a bigger person than the two men she married.

2) You've been here a long time, what makes you come back to braingle for so many years?
Definitely the people. This is the one site I've been to where you can still talk to the same people you knew 5 years ago.

3) Any siblings?
A younger brother and an older sister.

4) Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I was wrong earlier, this might be the one question I dread more than being asked about my weaknesses. Because this one is asked in every job interview, and I can never answer. But I suppose I just want to end up doing something I really love for a living. Nothing's worse than living an empty life, always dreading the next day because it brings nothing but disappointment.

5) I'm a genie, you just happen to rub my lamp. What three wishes do you want me to grant?
Get me out of this cave, make me look better in hats (I like hats), and take me to Tokyo. My desires are simple, and I prefer to do the big stuff for myself.

tuku, I don't want to be unfair to you and answer these without giving them the proper attention; I can't readily answer any of these, save for #3. I might even go so far as to say that they don't apply to me for various reasons, which I will list below.

1. I tend to favor books individually, as I read them, and not necessarily the author who wrote them. Though I'm becoming a fan of Stephen King, the more I read of him.
2. I have never studied mythology of any kind, and cannot answer this without doing a fair bit of research.
3. This one, I can answer. It looks a lot like a bachelor pad. I have no desire whatsoever to have a big house with anything fancy in it.
4. I don't have an affinity toward superheroes.
5. I haven't seen all of the Disney classics, nor any of them at all in the last 15 years. Thus, an informed decision would be impossible to make.

u) How aggressive a driver are you?
Not at all, but I do have my rules.
1. If I am on the interstate going 80, do NOT pull in front of me and go 65.
2. Also, when on the interstate, use your bloody blinkers. You have them for a reason.
3. Most of us drive to get somewhere. Keep that in mind.

v) Who in the world gets the most respect from you?
My brother. I won't divulge details, as it isn't my place, but he's gone through a lot these past few years, and never gave up. I'm not sure that I could've done the same.

w) How often do you use ketchup?
On a hamburger or a hot dog. That's about it.

x) You said before you highly rate the concept of "live and let live". Do you, then, believe in the eradication of capital punishment?
I suppose I should've worded that one better, because I certainly do believe in capital punishment. I guess what I really meant was (generally speaking) folks shouldn't concern themselves with what someone else is doing. Obviously, however, if what they're doing directly affects you, you should take some sort of action. Of course, there are scenarios to consider, but I can't cover them all here.

y) Does altruism exist?
I do, because I happen to know a couple who I believe to be altruistic. They'll help those who need it, and yet they won't cripple someone by helping them too much, and that part especially gains my respect. Now, if you're one of those who might argue that their feeling of satisfaction for helping someone negates the concept of altruism, then we might take that to the debate forum.

1) Any famous person you wish you knew?
Not necessarily, but I think Johnny Depp would be really interesting to talk to. I'd like a peek or two into his mind.

2) Was there ever a defining moment in your life where you realized you went from being a boy to a man?
Yes, and it would have to be when I got off the bus after arriving at basic training at 12:30am on a Wednesday morning, and proceeded to be yelled at by grown men I'd never met before, who told us "Do this" and "Don't do that, and shut up while not doing it." At that moment, I thought, "This is it. I'm here, and there's no going back." And there wasn't.

3) Most exciting moment of your life?
Graduating basic training and seeing the pride on my mother's face. I don't think anything will ever compare to that moment.

4) Can you dance or sing?
Not in such a way that I'd do either in front of someone.

5) Do you have a cool talent?
Yes, and it's totally nerdy. It may not sound like much of a talent to some, but I'm able to quickly add/subtract/multiply/divide numbers in my head. I don't care for decimals much, but I've been able to, on some occasions, figure the exact price after tax before they finished ringing the items up, having started when the cashier did.

I apologize for taking so long to get to these. I'm not usually active in the public forums, so I tend to forget that I'm here. It might be time to give over once I decide on a candidate.

1) Do you speak any foreign languages, and if so, which ones and how well?
Fluently, none. Though if I were pressed to choose another language that I knew at all, it would be Spanish. As for how well... I know what I learned in high school and at the fast food jobs I had. So basically, every dirty word, a few colorful insults, and how to conjugate verbs.

2) What is your favorite place you have traveled? Why?
South Korea. I was there for a year, and that was when I began to open up a bit and become somewhat social, so I actually had a lot of fun. Got a couple of drunken stories out of it, too.

3) What is your least favorite place you have traveled? Why?
Idaho. I was stationed in Mountain Home, and the terrain was about as boring and flat as one could imagine. I didn't care much for the weather; it's nearly always windy, and winter lasted roughly from October until April/May. I'm a big fan of snow as I mentioned, but I don't want to see it any time after March. I actually saw it snow on May 3rd one year.

4) What is the strangest place you have traveled? Why?
I haven't been anywhere that I would really consider to be strange. Aside from my time in the service, I haven't done much traveling.

5) If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?
Japan. I've always been fascinated with Asian culture, though I couldn't explain why.

1) Is there any topic you find your viewpoints and/or morals flipping back and forth on, what?
Once I figure out where I stand on an issue, I tend to keep that viewpoint throughout. If the word "static" can be used to describe a person, I would use it for myself. Things about me tend to remain the same. That's not to say that new information can't change the way I see things, but I don't flip-flop on a whim.

2) Is there an issue you support enough to keep fighting despite serious consequences, what?
One comes to mind, and that's same sex marriage. It seems to me - and correct me if I'm mistaken - that our laws against it are based entirely on religion. Religion is a choice, not a mandate, so why are we using it to enforce laws? If I'm wrong about that, then I'll accept it, but I can't think of any other reason we (as a country) would be against it aside from the fact that people think it's wrong. Why, because that's not how things have always been? Divorce rates are unbelievably high, and the "sanctity of marriage" is all but a joke now, but here we have a group of people who are willing to fight and withstand public abuse for the right to be together. And if I may take a small jab here, they're also a group of people who are guaranteed never to have an abortion. (I'm not about to get into that subject, just thought I'd point that out.) I could say more, but I believe my stance is clear: I support it. Let them do as they want. They aren't hurting you.

3) What holds the most value in your life?
The art of silence. I have often regretted the things I've said, but I have never regretted my silence. I read somewhere that wisdom comes in two parts:
Having a lot to say.
And not saying it.

There are a hundred other cute little quotes that make the same point, but you get the idea.

4) If you were to be a spy, which country would hold your loyalty? Could you be turned/ how easily?
I just know that it would not be America. I live here, and trust nothing about our government. Perhaps Japan, since I'm so fond of it. But whichever country earned my loyalty would have it for life; I don't squander my trust, as so few have it to begin with.

5) How often and to what degree do you find yourself lying?
I do my best to be honest about everything, but we've all told our little fibs. "I'm 'sick' today, I can't come to work." "No, Sir, it's supposed to look like that." "No, Officer, I don't know how fast I was going."
But in truth, I'm a terrible liar. Most of the time, lying doesn't cross my mind at all; telling things as they are comes naturally. I don't consider myself noble for it, though. I'm not fighting and overcoming any instinct to lie. I just don't have the instinct to begin with.
