Stess so much stress!

Hey so need bit of advice.

I have ocd and depression and my parents constantly stress me out. It sets my ocd and depression into overdrive and I've constantly told them to stop but they never listen to a word I say.

I'm trying to get an apprenticeship at the moment, I should hopefully get one soon, and I'm doing volunteer work, courses, looking for jobs all while I'm constantly struggling because of my mental health and seeing a psychologist.

I work so hard at everything but my mum and dad don't care. I do music technology and learnt piano and how to read music all within about 5-6months. I went on princes trust course where I worked really hard, do volunteer work in a shop and constantly looking for jobs. But my parent couldn't care less.

My ocd gets bad and they moan constantly at me for it. I've told them I'm already stressed as it is and them yelling all the time at me for it. I done a stress questionnaire on a mental health course I was on and I got 18 out of 20 which is sky high and is actually dangerous and my parents just add to that stress even though I've tried explaining to them and still continue.

(sorry couldn't continue last post for some reason )

Two nights ago I got pushed too far and walked out at about 9:30pm. I was in town and my town is very dodgy and only reason I went back home is because my boyfriend pleaded me to go home for my own safety. I got home at 10:30pm and my dad let me in, didn't say a word then sat back down cus he didn't want to miss his tv programme. Didn't even care how stressed and depressed I was. My parents also try telling me I'm not even trying to stop my ocd, although it's slowly getting better. Do they really think I'm doing these things for fun?

I'm actually getting more support from my boyfriend and his family, the guys who run my music technology course and my younger brother. And no support from my parents.

I know this is very long to read though so I appreciate you reading it. I'll be talking to my psychologist about this and see if he'll talk to them because I can't cope anymore. I know braingles not really the place for this but I've got nowhere else to turn to so some advice will be appreciated

I don't have the wisdom or experience to offer you any advice, other than to keep on fighting your battles, but I just wanted you to know that I did read everything you wrote and that we Brainglers do care about you (I'm sure I can speak for the crowd on that one). I hope your situation will improve; if you ever need to just talk to someone, feel free to PM me or continue using the forums.

Thanks really good to know I've got the braingle community, things are so stressful at home at the moment and it's really having a bad effect on me, I'll talk to my psychologist today and tell him what's going on and see if there's anything he can suggest or do

Honestly, I don't think there's anything you can do for your stress other than just talking about it - and you're already doing that, both here and to your psychologist. From your description, the other thing that could help - getting people to understand, you're already doing everything you can towards that. In explanation of your parents "not caring" about your leaving, they probably figured that you were just gone for an hour or so. After all, you were only gone for an hour. Note that I'm not getting on to you, or excusing their behavior (especially their inattention to your efforts), just offering a probable explanation.

"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." -Romans 12:2

Like Shady, I also do not have any experience enabling me to give you advice although I do know how much stress can interfere with one's life in all sorts of ways. It is good that you are talking to your psychologist who should be able to help you get through this difficult time. Just remember that no one is perfect and we all have our stress/conflicts to deal with in one way or another so you are not alone at all.

It is also good that you have your own little support group in your boyfriend, his family, your brother, and your friends in your music group. Just keep hanging in there and eventually things will work out. As Shady said, your Braingle family is here to listen when you need to talk...

Take care.

SMILE and people will wonder what you are up to!
