Jess-ey from Ohio is also celebrating a birthday today. Since I figure she is the younger of today's celebrants I have posted the Historical things on Panter91's birthday wishes and have put the celebrities here on Jess-ey's. Today HScott13 a lady pharmacist from Cornwall is celebrating her birthday. Hmmm Cornwall, I have to admit I'm not sure where that is in England, but I wonder if she knows Freddy Pharkas from Yorkshire as he was also a pharmacist, if I remember correctly?

Hi Vlerma!!

I was and still am a pharmacist. I doubt she'd know me as Cornwall is about 5 hours drive from here. I was there on holiday/vacation earlier in the year though. Plus Freddy Pharkas is a pseudonym I took from a 90s computer game, Freddy Pharkas, Frontier Pharmacist so I'd be really shocked if she recognised me from that!!!

Happy birthday to all in September (including me!) and belatedly to my fellow pharmacist HScott13 for last month.

How did Darth Vader know what Luke Skywalker had got for his birthday? He had felt his presents! Oldie but ..... mouldy

Oh My Gosh! Freddy, how the heck are you? Have missed you here on Braingle. How ironic, last night I was working on a Crossword puzzle and the clue was, "What was Darth Vader's real name?" Well now I know he was Skywalker's dad, but Skywalker did not fit in the spaces - so I guess I will have to try mouldy (English version) of moldy to see if that works. LOL You know Freddy, I still think your avatar is one of the most interesting. You have had it forever and a day. Will make sure I get you along with the other September birthdays and thanks for extending your wishes. Hugs.

(And just a note from Grayma V, my computer is acting up and I have put up the celebrities who share your birthday now 4 times and for some reason it is wiping that part of my greeting to you out before I can get it all transferred to the community area. I have been trying since yesterday afternoon and today is your birthday so I am putting out what I have and hope you will forgive me. Maybe I can get it working later and I will do a PS to your birthday wish. LOL Sorry.)

Trisha Yearwood. 50, country singer who is a member of the Grand Ole Opry and who released "She's In Love With The Boy" in 1991. It was her first #1 single, but not her last high-profile track. She is Mrs. Garth Brooks.

FreddyPharkas, a pharmacist in Yorkshire, UK, is one of my oldest, not eldest, friends on Braingle - since 2006 - 8 years. Freddy believes that if you give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to use a rod, and he will sit in a boat and drink liquid all day. Teach him to use the net and he will sit at his computer on Braingle all day.

His birthday was yesterday, September 22, 2014, and due to a stupid thing I did I had to keep a wounded leg up all day, which meant very little computer. I thought I had the birthdays all caught up, but I was wrong. Just checked though and Freddy hasn't logged on for several days, too busy again so please forgive me, Sir. HAPPY BIRTHDAY FREDDYPHARKAS!!!

What happened in History on September 22?

In special honor of my British friend's birthday I have included a bit of British trivia:

September 22, 1896 Queen Victoria surpasses her grandfather King George III as the longest reigning monarch in British history.
1910 The Duke of York's Cinema opened in Brighton. It is still operating today, making it the oldest continually operating cinema in Britain.
1914 German U-Boat, the U-9, sunk three British cruisers in the North Sea.
1934 An explosion takes place at Gresford Colliery in Wales, leading to the deaths of 266 miners and rescuers.
1955 Commercial TV begins in England
1955 In Britain, the television channel ITV goes live for the first time.
1966 Number one hit on UK music charts - Jim Reeves - Distant Drums
1973 Number one hit on UK music charts - Wizzard - Angel Fingers
1979 Number one hit on UK music charts - Gary Numan - Cars
1980 John & Yoko sign a recording contract with Geffen Records
2003 David Hempleman-Adams becomes the first person to cross the Atlantic Ocean in an open-air, wicker-basket hot air balloon.

OK, the 10 years left out I have picked up this bit of news from else where.

1927 Famous ""Long count"" fight (Dempsey loses boxing title to Tunney)
1949 USSR detonates its first atomic bomb.
1959 In Chicago, air raid sirens are sounded at 10:30 PM for five minutes, causing many residents to fear the start of a nuclear war. The Chicago White Sox had just won the American League pennant, their first pennant in 40 years, and city officials had ordered the sounding in celebration.
1991 "The Dead Sea Scrolls" are made available to the public for the first time, by the Huntington Library.

Here is a list of celebrities who also celebrated their birthdays on the 22nd. See Freddy, you are in pretty good company!

Carley Stenson, 32, English singer and actress who played the role of Steph Cunningham and the role of Princess Fiona in Shrek: The Musical.
Harry Kewell, 36, Australian hockey player who received a chance to try out for the English leagues at 14 and was able to take up their offer to play because his father was part-British and played alongside Steven Gerrard on Liverpool from 2003 to 2008.
Toni Basil, 71, musician whose No. 1 1981 hit Mickey was an international sensation.
David Coverdale, 63, former lead singer of the band Deep Purple and who also performed with the hard rock band Whitesnake. He is a dual citizen of the US and the UK.
Shari Belafonte, 60, actress, singer, and daughter of calypso man Harry Belafonte. She began her career as a model and was featured on many covers and commercials for Calvin Klein.
Ruth Jones, 48, award-winning actress and writer who starred in the UK series Gavin & Stacey. She was named the Best Female Comedy Newcomer by the British Comedy Awards in 2007.
Billie Piper, 32. She became known for her role as Rose Tyler on BBC's Doctor Who and was nominated for the Olivier Award for Best Actress for her role as Connie in The Effect in 2012.
Joan Jett, 56, rose to fame as the lead singer of The Blackhearts and became considered the Queen of Rock 'n' Roll for hits such as "I Love Rock 'N' Roll." She toured with Steven Tyler during Aerosmith's 2007 World Tour.
Debby Boone, 58, singer whose single "You Light Up My Life" was a #1 hit. She began touring with her parents at the age of fourteen, she is the daughter of Pat Boone.
Andrea Bocelli, 56, Operatic tenor who became blind at the age of twelve and who won the Newcomers Sanremo Music Festival in 1994. His duet with Celine Dion for the animated film The Quest for Camelot won them both a Golden Globe. Bocelli and Ray Charles are both celebrated singers who lost their vision due to glaucoma.

And I usually have half a dozen or so people who have had the same birthdate as our celebrant, but have passed, however, not today, only one, and as I have tried to bring out the British in this particular set of wishes, I have been given a leading British scientist, Michael Faraday, September 22, 1791 - Aug 25, 1867 (age 75) Leading British scientist in Electromagnetism and Elctrochemistry. He invented an early form of the Bunsen burner and the system of oxidation numbers and he was one of the first scientist to discover benzene. He was the first to discover the Magnetic Field, along with Diamagnetism and Electrolysis.

All that being said, Freddy Pharkas, I am sending you Big Grayma Hugs, and I am sure the whole Braingle bunch are hoping you had a glorious birthday. Maybe you even got off work early for a change?

Aww thanks. Although it'a day late, happy birthday as well to Zonahobo. Maybe someday I'll do something with the stories I wrote up for those Who's the Boss games. I've definitely had it under consideration for a while.

I will now resume lurking silently.

Today, 9/27, is the day Jayo from Dublin celebrates his birthday, and again I am running late. You see I am battling the birthday man in a Werewolf Game - last round, I'm human and two other players, well you get the idea. Under the circumstances Jayo's bi line is very applicable:
"Life is short, enjoy it, the big party doesn't happen until afterwards." Here is wishing you a very Happy Birthday, celebrating with family, friends, and other loved ones with lots of cake and many, many presents, and the blessings of the Irish.

Things that happened in history on your birthdate:

September 27, 1903 "Wreck of the Old 97, a train crash made famous by the song of the same name."
1916 Iyasu is proclaimed deposed as ruler of Ethiopia in a palace coup in favor of his aunt Zauditu
1922 "King Constantine I of Greece abdicates his throne in favor of his eldest son, King George II."
1937 Last Balinese Tiger killed.
1938 Ocean liner Queen Elizabeth launched at Glasgow
1942 Glenn Miller and his Orchestra perform for the last time before Miller enters the US Army.
1954 "The Tonight Show, starring Steve Allen, debuts on NBC-TV."
1964 "The Warren Commission releases its report, concluding that Lee Harvey Oswald, acting alone, assassinated President John F. Kennedy."
1968 "The stage musical Hair opened at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London, where it played 1,998 performances until its closure was forced by the roof's collapsing in July 1973."
1973 Soyuz 12 carries 2 cosmonauts into Earth orbit (2 days)
1986 Cliff Burton of Metallica dies an a bus accident in Sweden.
1998 Google is established.
1999 Detroit's Tiger Stadium closes after 87 years of hosting baseball and other sporting contests.
2003 Smart 1 satellite is launched.

OK, so that was some historical things. Now let us see who the celebrities are who share your birthdate, Jayo. Sorry if it seems I am running mostly US celebrities, but unfortunately my source doesn't seem to list much of any where else. But hopefully I will be able to find someone you will know.

Well I guess it is about time to go look at the Werewolf Game and see if the birthday man won the game getting a nice birthday present or if he lost along with the other human. Brainglers everywhere, step up and wish Jayo a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Thanks Radioguy. Always appreciated. And Zonahobo's birthday was on the 27th too, and I always appreciated his visits. However Zona hasn't been around on Braingle for quite a while now. When I saw you wished him Happy Birthday I thought Gee, how could I have missed Zona? Fact is a couple years ago I made a special birthday card for him, sort of like I did yours, Only he was fishing on a bank. I still have him on my friend's list, but for some reason I missed him on my birthday list. He has been gone for over a year, but Zonahobo, if you do stop by know that I and Brainglers all wish you a very Happy Birthday. Hugs.
