I thought I had a cake that said November HAPPY BIRTHDAYS but discovered it was October so I will use this one instead. November started off kind of rough for the things I do in here. We had two birthdays, one who had not logged on for quite some time - Zinovia a lady from the US whose birthday was actually on the 5th and a young man Cutebug, who listed the US as his home, but did not give a date in November for his birthday. So I didn't get in any hurry to put these two birthdays up. Sorry about that.

And now it appears there are not very many birthdays yet to celebrate - several later in the month.

Just wanted Zinovia to know we do know she had a birthday on the 5th should she happen back in to Braingle,, and if Cutebug would give me a PM with the day of his birthday I would be happy to wish him Happy Birthday again on the proper date. In the mean time, Brainglelanders, help me wish these two members the best birthdays ever with family, friends and other loved ones

November 20, I have changed up my format just a bit. You see today is my daughter's birthday ICUB42 or as she likes to be called, ICU. You see I (backward's playing) I was there the night she was born. I gave her up for adoption so she could have the love of two parents because I did not have the emotional support of her father. Twenty six years went by with me wondering if my child would try to find me. It was not an open adoption like they have today so I had no idea where my baby was. The good Lord did want us together as she was raised only 17 miles from me and when she started looking for me and she found me within three weeks. She has a good mother so I may never be her mother, but I will always be her best friend. I am so very proud of who she is and her children she has had, all four of them. Life is good. Happy Birthday Baby Girl. I love you.

Who Else was born on November 20?

Mike Diamond, 50, drummer and vocalist with the hip hop group The Beastie Boys.
Bo Derek,59, 1980's sex symbol who played Jane in Tarzan, the Ape Man (1981). She popularized the cornrow hairstyle in the 1979 movie 10.
Rodger Bumpass, 64, voice of Squidward on SpongeBob Squarepants.
Dierks Bentley, 40, country singer known for his many hit singles, including "What Was I Thinkin".
Joe Biden 73, the 47th Vice President of the United States, who served two terms under President Barack Obama.
Robert F. Kennedy, 11/20/25 to 6/6/68 (age 42) U.S. Senator from New York and Attorney General under his brother John's administration who was assassinated in 1968 while he was running for President.
Richard Dawson, November 20, 1932 to Jun 2, 2012 (age 79) comic actor who was the original host of the game show, Family Feud.
Edwin Hubble, November 20, 1889 to Sep 28, 1953 (age 63) American astronomer who played a crucial role in establishing the field of extragalactic astronomy and for whom the space telescope was named.

It was Sunday, under the sign of Scorpio. The US president was Dwight D. Eisenhower (Republican). In that special week of November people in US were listening to Georgia On My Mind by Ray Charles. In UK It's Now Or Never by Elvis Presley was in the top 5 hits. The Virgin Spring, directed by Ingmar Bergman, was one of the most viewed movies released in 1960 while Advise And Consent by Allen Drury was one of the best selling books.

And what about the music in l980 since it seems to run in this entire family's blood?

Which were the top hits in that special week of November 1960 ?

Top #5 songs in the USA
1. The Drifters - Save The Last Dance For Me
2. I Want To Be Wanted (Per Tutta La Vita) - Brenda Lee
3. Maurice Williams & The Zodiacs - Stay
4. Ray Charles - Georgia On My Mind
5. Floyd Cramer - Last Date

Top #5 songs in the UK
1. Elvis Presley - It's Now Or Never
2. Shirley Bassey - As Long As He Needs Me
3. Roy Orbison - Only The Lonely
4. Johnny & The Hurricanes - Rocking Goose
5. Johnny Burnette - Dreamin'

Which were the important events of Sunday, 20 November 1960 ?

Holidays
Church of England - Edmund the Martyr
Brazil - Zumbi Day (since 197
United Kingdom - wedding day of Queen Elizabeth II (1947), official flag day
Mexico - Anniversary of the Revolution (1910)
UNICEF - Universal Children's Day
Vietnam - Teacher's Day
Transgender Day of Remembrance (since 1999)

And now that we know all that, here is one last thing:

How Much things cost in 1960
Yearly Inflation Rate USA 1.46%
Yearly Inflation Rate UK 1.1%
Average Cost of new house $12,700.00 Average Monthly Rent $98.00 Cost of a gallon of Gas 25 cents 23 inch Television $219.95 Average Cost of a new car $2,600.00 Piaggio / Vespa Scooter $319.95 Can of Beef Ravioli 30 cents Loaf of Bread 20 cents Mens Electric Shaver $20.30 Polaroid Land Camera, looking back it seems quite expensive but this was the only way to see your photo nearly instantly Polaroid Camera $93.45 The latest in Danish contemporary furniture for the 60's home Danish Contemporary Living Room Furniture $350.00

Aren't you glad to survived through all of that? But it is fun to look back once in a while. I hope you have had a good day and that some of you wishes have been fulfilled. I know I am looking forward to many more birthdays with you. Big Birthday Hugs.

Aw thank you vlerma! I enjoy the games on here too!

You missed one bit of "history" on my date. I share a birthday with Doctor Who!! It's one reason my user name is what it is - plus I grew up watching the show in the late 70s and early 80s.

Well as of 120 tonight November will be over and we can start celebrating he December birthdays. I don't think I have ever seen such a slow birthday month as what November has been. Skipping from the last October birthday clear up to the 20th of November. But I have come back in here on the last day of the month to wish Happy Birthday to anyone I missed or forgot. I am so sorry and please let me know if it was you. I would truly appreciate a private message letting me know so I can get you added to my lists. Thank you so much.

I hope everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving with your loved ones. Also hope you aren't getting tired of turkey sandwiches, yet. I sit at home while everyone else either works or goes to school, so I have gotten the job and finding recipes for left over turkey. Some are really quite inventive.

Today, December 4, 2015, is whoviandeb's Birthday. She is a lady from the United States whose userline reads like this: "Welcome to the page of someone who kinda likes Doctor Who." She plays Werewollf and Who's the Boss games and has a high score in PacMan on Braingle. So please join me all you Braingleland members out there in wishing WHOVIANDEB a very royal HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

These folks also are celebrating their birthdays today:

Deanna Durbin 1921
Wink Martindale 1934
Max Baer Jr. 1937
Freddy "Boom Boom" Cannon 1940
Dennis Wilson (Beach Boys) 1944
Jeff Bridges 1949
Gary Rossington 1951 Musician (Lynyrd Skynyrd)
Cassandra Wilson 1955
Brian Prout 1955 - Musician (Diamond Rio)
Marisa Tomei 1964 - Actress
Jay-Z (Shawn Corey Carter) 1969

Happenings in the Music World on this date:

1956 - Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash recorded together (the Million Dollar Quartet). The session would not be released for 25 years. 1961 - Gene Chandler's "Duke of Earl" was released. 1976 - Tommy Bolin of Deep Purple died of a drug overdose at the age of 25. 1980 - Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones made the announcement of their decision not to re-form Led Zeppelin in the wake of the death of drummer John "Bonzo" Bonham. 1987 - Madonna filed for divorce from actor Sean Penn. She changed her mind, but would file again in January 1988. 1987 - Metallica released the "Cliff 'Em All" video collection. The bootleg and unprofessional recordings had been shot during 1982-1986 when Cliff Burton was still with the band. 1988 - Roy Orbison gave his final concert in Akron, OH. He died two days later. 1989 - The U.S. Supreme Court upheld a ruling that said that Prince did not steal the song, "U Got The Look" from his half-sister. Lorna Nelson claimed the lyrics were similar to ones she had written. 1991 - Van Halen performed a free concert in Dallas. Sammy Hagar had promised the show because he had lost his voice during a show in Dallas 3 1/2 years earlier. 1995 - Michael Jackson appeared with legendary mime Marcel Marceau at New York news conference promoting a Jackson special airing on HBO. 2001 - Gene Simmons' book "Kiss and Make-Up" was released.

Most of the notable news for this date in the past seemed to simply be sort of like reading our current daily newspapers so I decided to bypass it for this date. And my sympathy for the deaths and injuries at San Bernardino. It was a sad day.

But for you, whoviandeb, I hope you have had a glorious birthday with family, friends and other loved ones, and lots and lots of cake and blessings.

Gene Chandlers, "Duke of Earl"...

My daughter got married in 2003, and during the reception I had the DJ play that song... and I asked her to play it just loud enough for the music to be heard. I sang a variation of that song to my daughter... one I had sung to her for years and years before... same tune, different words. I nick named her, "Puka Face" when she was real young. The shell of a beautiful woman...

My siblings were all there, and my oldest brother, who actually performed the wedding said to me afterwards... "So this was what you were not sure you were going to do?"

Yep... nothing like putting yourself out there for all family and friends to hear you sing. In case you wondered, there were quite a few tears of joy with my little show; though it wouldn't have surprised me to find a couple who cried because it was so bad. But it was something I had promised myself to do at her wedding when she was about 7 or 8... and frankly, I don't think my voice is too bad; it can hold a note.

Thanks for the memory...
