Star Wars is the best series in my humble opinion... with Back to the Future as #2. I admit, I never got into Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings... maybe someday. I do enjoy the Indiana Jones series too, but it quite a few more points below Back to the Future.
As far as Star Wars, though I am glad they added #1-3... it's 4-6 that I enjoy more.
Back to the Future... I truly loved #2... because of the way they tied #1 in with it and a bit of #3. I enjoyed the logic of the show, though I will be the first to admit that I think they spent too much time in the future version... as those characters were a bit hard to relate to, or even believe. Of course, we are now nearing that time frame of the movie, and I guess I just don't see much of how they perceived the world as it would be today actually happening. In the end though, I suspect it was necessary to make them look like tweeds to get the "You're Fired" Fax.

I always love how in Back to the Future II they have different perspectives on the same scene. I've always loved time travel and that technique is one of my favourites. The second film is my favourite of the series. I like the unrealistic future's technologically unlikely aspect. Realism is great and useful but who doesn't want a hovercar? Not realistic, but certainly fun. And besides, we still have a few years to be entirely sure it won't really be like that.

My friends and I were recently talking about how they should do a remake for Back to the Future using dates from the future since 2015 is so close now and there are still no flying cars ( )
...I just lost the Game |

But that's part of the charm. Nineteen Eighty-Four didn't happen in 1984. 2001 didn't happen in 2001. It's not realistic but it's the dream that matters. Just as in the Fallout series of games the future has a distinctly 1950s style to it, based on ridiculous and improbable from that time, the future as seen in BttF 2 is distinctly from the late 1980s and thus gives it its charm point. It's a fantasy vision never meant to be real and always set off in the horizon until it is achieved.
I do wish the rumours that there was going to be another film done, even in Zemeckis' favourite mocapped CG, was true, though. Though, the recent game was pretty good and actually had Christopher Lloyd.

Some movies are too classic to be remade-Back to the Future and The Princess Bride are good examples. There's a good chance that the remakes wouldn't be nearly as good as the original. That always feels like it ruins the old movies for me too.
