Listen to it here
Sound therapists and Manchester band Marconi Union compiled the song. Scientists played it to 40 women and found it to be more effective at helping them relax than songs by Enya, Mozart and Coldplay.
Weightless works by using specific rhythms, tones, frequencies and intervals to relax the listener. A continuous rhythm of 60 BPM causes the brainwaves and heart rate to synchronise with the rhythm: a process known as 'entrainment'. Low underlying bass tones relax the listener and a low whooshing sound with a trance-like quality takes the listener into an even deeper state of calm.
Dr David Lewis, one of the UK's leading stress specialists said: "'Weightless' induced the greatest relaxation – higher than any of the other music tested. Brain imaging studies have shown that music works at a very deep level within the brain, stimulating not only those regions responsible for processing sound but also ones associated with emotions."
The study - commissioned by bubble bath and shower gel firm Radox Spa - found the song was even more relaxing than a massage, walk or cup of tea. So relaxing is the tune, apparently, that people are being advised against listening to it while driving.
The top 10 most relaxing tunes were: 1. Marconi Union - Weightless 2. Airstream - Electra 3. DJ Shah - Mellomaniac (Chill Out Mix) 4. Enya - Watermark 5. Coldplay - Strawberry Swing 6. Barcelona - Please Don't Go 7. All Saints - Pure Shores 8. AdelevSomeone Like You 9. Mozart - Canzonetta Sull'aria 10. Cafe Del Mar - We Can Fly source
You guys should check it out. It's really good.

Reminds me of the Playstation loading screen. It sounds pretty relaxing, but I'm not sure I could handle that. It's a tad haphazard with the constant shifting tones. I could probably dig it, but I'm not sure if it would be the most relaxing for me. Smooth jazz has been known to put me to sleep, though I wouldn't particularly want to listen to it if I was still alive/awake.
I tried listening to the Coldplay on that list just to see if it was relaxing and thus better music than what I've heard from them. Had to stop it soon after. It's not the most irritating I've ever heard but, still, the singing was enough for me. Ween has some relaxing songs like "Chocolate Town".

Well, I fell asleep at my desk while listening to it, but that was probably due to lack of sleep the previous night. Some of the slightly louder, high-pitched squealing sounds (like that of an alto sax) briefly woke me up, though. I suppose what one considers relaxing is highly subjective; my idea of a relaxing song would be composed entirely of lower notes played on smooth-sounding instruments -- none of those squeals I recall hearing.

Ahh, Pachelbel's Canon, I love it... I always think of this when I listen to it though, which isn't so relaxing

x3 what did you think? It always cheers me up to be honest
And on that note, this is something that both cheers me up and is quite relaxing (in a round about way)... I dreamed a dream; specifically, Susan Boyle's first audition from BGT. www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRiJNS8Oz6E

Those are sweet songs
I've been listening to pearl jam too recently, they're really calming. Acostic and singer/songwriters have that too.
