I dont understand him either! I read Derren Brown's Trick Of The Mind book, (absolutely LOVE this bloke!) and it got me thibki.g about a few things. He talks about how mediums "talking" to the dead, and explains how these mediums just throw out random information that can be related to by everyone. People just make the information fit exactly how they want and its basically mediums making money out of vulnerable people which is disgusting. I cant really explain it so itd be best to just look this up 
also he says about religion, lying and how language can manipulate someone. Its changed my mind about mediums and ghosts and reinforced my beliefs about the Bible (i was Christian but im now atheist). Its a very good book, very entertaining, funny and thought provoking, its a really good read
