I truly believe we need to NOT go with a party line, but what the person says he can do. Ok, this only works with the low class and middle class people, because everyone above us thinks it has to be party line, party line, party line. And party line thinking gets us in trouble with partisan voting. Screw that... what happened to what is best for the PEOPLE? I know I have less than a minority thinking like me, but I really would like to see the entire party line abolished and let us, in America.. just vote as an American. Oh, the shame in that!

Yeah we get that in Australia too.
We are just being fed mush!
When unemployment goes down...oh they say, it is because we are doing such a good job. We are not influenced by outside forces. We have a strong economy.
Today, a bank raised its interest and put off 1000 people [jobs have gone to India] This bank makes MILLIONS in profit....then the politican clown comes on and says "Well, you know the global situation isn't that good..."
They are like pin balls in a pinball machine...they just bounce around according to where they are pinged
Oh and the top guy in the bank said he'd forego his yearly bonus. Well that is sooo big of him. Especially considering his bonus is the size of the GDP of a small African country....some 9 million dollars!!!!!

I agree RGW, I know people that would vote for Ron Paul even though they don't agree with a lot of his ideas. Why would they do this? Because they will vote for the Republican nominee. Pro-life, pro-choice, adulterous, isolationist, it doesn't seem to matter. Do you suppose that people vote a certain way so they can say "their side" won? I hope not, that seems kinda childish...
EDIT: In order to stay "on topic" ..... Is there anything Obama has disappointed you with? Yes.

I think many people are quite disappointed in Obama. It's not really all his fault, it's just that we get so worked up at election time, and we expect the President to come in a be able to make all those promises he made come true... and then he can't, because he's not the King.
And because Obama is so brilliant at speech-making, I think that when he actually became Pres., many of us were even MORE disappointed by the contrast between his promises and our hopes and the reality.
But it's really hard to imagine any of the Republicans winning over Obama.
Anyway, the whole system is corrupt. Until we have government financed campaigns, we won't even be able to START getting money out of our government... That's what I'm thinking lately.
Life... can be so many things... how can anyone ever think they are RIGHT? HAhahahahahahaha!!!!! |

OK guys!
I'm interested in your thoughts and opinions.
In his term of office, what has Obama done that changed your way of life? Has he imporved anything for your community or America? What have his 3 years in office done which is beneficial to the US and, indeed, the world?

Promised to never ever EVER shoot for an individual mandate because that would be illegal... Hilary would do it, why you shouldn't vote for her, but I never will.
Individual Mandate now before the SC.
Promised equality for the LGBT Community IF I get elected.
Once elected it was evolving, ask me later, oh look a terrorist...
Course here we are at election time again and the same lines are being used. IF you elect me (again) then I will...
Nope can't say as I'm all that impressed with his promises or his total inability to keep his word. I like to know what a person will do In My Name BEFORE I give them power to act in my name. This guy? He may go north, he may go south, he may put it on the back burner, he may steamroll it through... just no CLUE what he will do.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. If he's voted in again, and yet again doesn't keep his word (why should he, no reelection at risk) it will be our own fault. I want no part of that TYVM.

i am betting you have been fooled more than once by a lot of politicians in the past, because you bleve in the tooth fairy and santa clause. if you would stop believing in these myths, then the rest of the statements made by politicians (all of them, ron paul included) wouldn't phase you.
shall we pull out the claims made by every other candidate along the way that were physically impossible, but promised anyway?? or is this just your platform to bash obama like the rest of the right wing?
say something positive for a change.
tell us a promise the republican nominee has made he can, in fact, keep? get rid of obamacare on day two in office?
how stupid that statement is!
name one that is actually true, or even has real potential of being true, and see if you can do it without lowering yourself to republican right wing standards of bashing the opposition. climb above the slime that is on the advertisements every day, please.
snappy, without the Alaska drama queen in office, all is massively better, it goes without even saying.

LOL - Alaska drama Queen . . . . . is that bashing, name calling or . . . um, just a lefty with a loosey lip. lol
Politicians are basically all the same, as they 1) state all the things they would "like" to do once in office, and 2) state all or some of the things they know their side wants to hear. It's all fair in love and politics. I think most stress their desires for this country, and for the most part, are hoping to be able to do what they state. . . . . but it's unrealistic to believe they can actually do these things, especially when they have to work with a congress. Not downing the system, we certainly don't need a President who answers to no one, and does as they please, even if it pleases 1/3 of the country. He/she has to answer to congress, and most importantly, ALL of us, and yea, I mean us right wing nut jobs, you left loose out of the nut house and those others. . . . . . who call themselves libertarians and/or independents. The President represents us all, that's why we don't have a dictatorship at hand.
I would only wish those running for this honored place in office be realistic when asking for our votes. If they would like to do something once elected, say so. But don't say - I will do ____________ and then cannot deliver. At least be real enough to say you would like to do this, and this and this . . . . . and I'll try to do this and this and this. . . . . . .
I'm not crazy about Mitt, I'm not in favor of socialism/communism so I do not care for Obama. . . . RP, I think would be ok, but he'll never be elected. . . . . because he's not taken seriously enough. I like Santorum, but he's said some things that I don't agree with - so he "kinda" makes me wonder. .Geesh, I really liked Cain, but that fell through. So it is without a doubt, our job to vote for who "we" as individuals feel is the lesser of the 2 or 3 evils. And I wouldn't want Newt in either.

I wonder how many people are thinking the same thing? So here's my question: are you going to vote for a candidate you are "not crazy about", or cast a vote for who you think would be the best person for the job? I don't expect you to answer that, but it's something to think about.
BTW I copied this to this forum as it seemed we were getting off topic of Obama's first year.
I hope you don't mind.

I agree, this topic is way off course, and since Obama's first year has long been gone, this topic should really be locked.
As for your q Jay. . . . will answer in a topic that suites the question, I suppose. lol

I will lock this topic beings it is no longer a current event and if you wish to discuss the 2012 Presidential runners go to an existing topic called "Presidential Election"! Thanks... Mod RGW4
