We could have world peace, theoretically, without relying on any higher power. I know this wouldnt be practical, or even realistic, but it is possible. Think of it on a small scale. There is a group of 5 people who would never even think of hurting each other. Now, the next generation comes, and 10 people would never think of hurting each other. If we have that mentality across the globe, and if no one is taught that fighting is even an option, world peace can be achieved. The answer is not in the authority or the religion, its in the attitude of the individuals.

I think they mean peace in this world, not the biblical New one.
If what I've learned and interpreted from Revelation is true, there will be world peace one day, under the antichrist.
Until then, it will be impossible, I'm afraid.

World peace will never be possible. As long as people have anything approaching "free will" there will be those that breach peace for their own personal gain, and obviously any attempts to stifle such tendencies would not constitute peace either.
