Just a point on Countries Hidden in the Dark Continent. I would recommend not to use "Dark Continent" to refer to Africa, as it is a 19th-century term with slightly pejorative connotations (see wikipedia, for example). It immediately rang an alarm bell, as I have done a postgraduate on Post-colonialism and there were all sort of snickering remarks about how Africa is only dark and unknown for us Westerners and that they found it a very bright country indeed, thank you very much. I know this must be absolutely unintended by the author, but still I thought I'd mention it.

This is being discussed, but I don't think it's really an issue. Then, as is now, Dark Continent was meant to notate that most of the country was an unknown and thus the map was 'dark'.

One could argue far and wide about the negative connotations of the word dark, apart from meaning unmapped; and the arrogance of Western invaders who dared name a whole continent after a single word, and that one which only added to the "otherness" and differenciation from us -who must be bright in contrast. I do grant you that this is not crucially important -I know everyone means well here, and editors do a mightily fine job. If anyone is interested in postcolonial issues, I'd like to recommend a great book: Orientalism by Edward Said, a study of how the West has constructed an image of the East to suit its own agenda. I'll shut up about this now, and sorry for the rant!

On I Can Help You, I Can Kill You, the answer is rather vague, as it could also include almost any kind of medicine.

A Walk in the Forrest is a dupe of #448

Made your bed, now lay in it....But you can always add a bedside table, change the sheets, take out the trash...it doesn't have to stay the same unless you want it to.

Iron is very close to teaser #750. It might be a dupe.

The String Museum answer may be a bit controversial. It's true that pianos have strings, and some consider it a string instument. However, many more people consider it a percussion instrument, because the sound is made by the performer striking the keys and then by the hammers of the piano striking the piano's strings.

I think you can make a case either way, but there will likely be complaints and corrections submitted by several musicians who are used to thinking of the piano as a percussion instrument.

Careful with Peace. This is a Current Events teaser, and future countries dropping out of the UN, could make this invalid as written. Also, it may be better in Trivia.

Not sure if this is a rule violation on teaser: Military Fun 3. It is refering to another teaser on the site. What will happen if for some reason, the original teaser is removed, etc.

Additionally, please do not refer to Braingle.com or any other website in your teasers. This information is likely to change frequently, which would make the brain teaser invalid.

I remember reading the problem in Mrs. Smith in a book as a kid. I think, but I'm not entirely sure, that it was in one of the Two-Minute Mysteries series, although it was possible that it was in an Enclyclopedia Brown book. I tend to lean towards the former. Irregardless, this is not an original mystery.
