Welcome to Braingle, amber! You'll probably find something you like here. I recommend you head on over to the Games section and play a game of Werewolf or Who's the Boss. It's a good way to make friends and get involved in our little community here. Hope you enjoy Braingle as much as we do!

I'll agree with Shadows, get involved with the community, either through games or the forums. There are lots of friendly people here.

Hi Amber and welcome to Braingle. Like Shadows and jaycr said, there are many things here that may interest you, so just look around. If you like to test your knowledge of trivia, I also recommend the individual Talk Box 1 vs 100. Good bunch of people who have fun while challenging themselves and each other and in the process may even learn a thing or two. Just click on the Talk Boxes tab, then click on Browse Talk Boxes both tabs can be found at the top of the screen. Request membership and that's it. While you are there, if any of the other Talk Box topics are of interest to you, request membership to them as well.

In the Public Forums, there are many different topics that may interest you as well. I suggest you start by going into the General Discussion topic and the Braingle Family Room 46.

If you have any specific questions, please feel free to send a Personal Message to me or Shadows or any one of the other Mods. If we can't answer your question, we will sure find someone who can.

how do i add a picture thats saved on my computer? it ask for an http: to post a picture.

Are you looking to use it as your avatar? If so follow these directions:

First click on "my account" at the top of the page. Then click on "Edit Personal Information".

You will need to upload your avatar to Braingle using this form. To do this, you must have your avatar as an image somewhere on your computer. If have a url for your avatar, you must download it to your computer first, and then upload it to Braingle.

Once you change your avatar, you may need to refresh your web browser or empty your browsers cache to see your new avatar.

Amber, if you want to link (for example you want to show an article from another web site) here are some instructions I was given a long time ago that helped me:

#1. Go to the site that you want to link to on Briangle
#2. Copy the WHOLE URL all the way from the http:// to the last word/letter/number
#3. Go back to the page you want to post the link and In the "Allowed Formatting:" area under the smileys, click the word link
#4. Paste the URL in the allowed block
#5. Press Ok
#6. Name the link WHATEVER you want
#7. Click Ok
#8. Voila, you will have a link posted. You DON'T have to do anything else other then just hit Post Reply.

You should see your named link underlined when you post it. If you have any problems, or don't understand what I'm saying, let me know. I'll go over it again

And if you just want to post a picture (an image) you right click on the picture you want to post and select copy image location, then go to the topic you want to post it on and click on image (at the bottom of the post under the smileys) and paste the image URL in the blank space in the box that appears and hit okay. Picture will then be posted when you hit post reply.

I want to post a picture here where the text is showing up. I have many funny and inspirational picture i want to shre, but they have been saved on my computer for a while in a folder on my desk top. Is there a way to post them here for everyone to enjoy?

When you right click on the picture you want to post you will get 7 options: click on the option that says "copy image location." Then go back to Braingle to the topic you want to post the picture and click on Post Reply. Make sure your cursor is in the Post Reply box. Go to the bottom of the Post Reply Box and underneath the smiley faces there are 7 underlined allowed formatting options. Click on the one that says "image" That's where you will see the box that starts: http: Just right click and find the option that says paste, click on the paste option and the URL will automatically be filled in the blank line. It's what you copied for the image location from the picture you wanted to post.Click OK. Your picture URL will appear and if you click Post Reply you will see your picture. I hope this is understandable, I know it can be confusing at first, but if you keep at it I'm sure you will get it.

Edit: If you are talking about a personal picture you have on your computer, then you probably need to transfer the picture to Photobucket. Then you can use the URL that you get from them. Do you have a Photobucket account? If not, it would be a good idea for you to open one, it's free and it helps with posting personal pictures.

You can also try imgur which you don't need an account for. Just drag the picture files onto the page, and hit upload. Then they'll give you a link that you can use.
