Hi Celtica and welcome to Braingle! 
As for the karma, those are the little green ticks you see beside the names of the members who have them. Good karma (green) is earned by being an active, positive member of the site. It isn't any one particular thing you do, but a compilation of things such as reading/solving teasers and quizzes, posting in the forums, and being active on site. I hope you enjoy the site and all it has to offer as well as the great group of people who are all part of the Braingle community/family.
