How do I create a Talk Box?

To create a Talk Box, you must first be a registered user of Braingle. After you sign in and go to the Talk Box section you will see a link at the bottom of the page which will let you create a Talk Box.

Give your Talk Box a name and a description and decide if you want it to be hidden or not. If you have a hidden Talk Box, the only way people can gain access to it is via an invitation from you. If your Talk Box is not hidden, then people will be able to read your title and description and request to become a member. You get to chose which invitations to accept and reject.

How do I get people into my Talk Box?

Once you have created a Talk Box you will see a link next to it that will let you manage your members. From this page you can perform several different actions.

1. You can invite new people to your Talk Box by typing in their username and clicking the "Invite" button.

2. You can approve or reject membership requests. These are people who see your Talk Box and want to become a member. Click the "approve" or "reject" links to process each request.

3. You can kick people out of your Talk Box by clicking on the "Kick Out" link.

4. You can ban people from requesting to become a member by entering their username and clicking the "Ban" button. A banned member will be able to see that they have been banned. This should be used as a last resort against abusive members.

How are forum moderators selected?

When it is felt that additional moderators are needed due to an increase in the posts in the forums or by any of the current moderators leaving the site or choosing not to moderate, the current moderators will vote to select one from those who've applied to serve as one. If you are interested in becoming a moderator, there is now a link at the bottom of the main forum page that will allow you to submit an application.

There are no real requirements except to be an active member of the site, a positive influence as evidenced by at least two positive karma arrows, and being on site long enough to be acquainted with all that it has to offer. Those who are moderators have shown a high degree of positive participation in the forums as well as other areas of the site.
