The objective of Hearts is to avoid taking tricks containing a heart or the queen of spades because these cards award points to the winner of the trick. At the end of the game, the player with the fewest points is the winner.
During each round, the player who won the previous trick plays a card. Everyone else must then play a card in the same suit (or another suit if they are void in the played suit). The person who played the highest card in the suit wins the trick.
