I'm going to assume that cab simply didn't look at the voting list or the comments at all last round, considering her comment about MoO when jpost had three votes on him already.

Got it .

EDIT: Wasn't inactive. I was sleeping. And... Why have two people voted for me? Because I forgot to vote last round?

Thrown a random SPV vote.

Tad hasty, is it not? NOTE: I came on during like 20 minutes into night when I realized I didn't vote. >.<

So close to being killed because of it. Whew. Dodged a bullet. Literally.

I sent in my guesses; so I will wait a while, but I am pretty sure that I am too late. As far as my vote I will wait a while to actually vote, I don't blame mathgeek for not voting. It's good no be active, but almost no one provided anything other than a SPV (which I hate by the way).

Anyways, will wait to see if there is a force vote.

They aren't as good as scarf spv... just kidding.

Umm back in my day (old man lecture time), we weren't afraid to vote of people round one. I'll admit there were usually an inactive to vote off, but we didn't start the round with practically everyone having a single vote. I can see the logic in the thought.

I am known for mixing things up, in round one I wanna see who will side with who, what kind of strategy each players will play (especially if there is a wolf's TB)

In my opinion it seems like a waste of a round just to do a "hello this is my vote post" and then never hear from the player from the rest of the round.

[Publisher's Note]

Lol, For some reason, that post makes no sense, but maybe I am just growing tired. I NEED A NAP.

As for the game, I will be back probably after my game (about 3-4 hours from this post). I will check in on my phone, but probably won't post. I am not sure what to think of the jpost killing, I would be happy to see what other people think. Does he have a usual group that he plays with?

This is very true. I'd rather be peachy than preachy. I was just answering a question. Preachy just gets myself killed

If you ask me a question, I am gonna try to answer it truthfully to the best of my abilities. I think this question either came up in my last game or the game before that and it was obvious I was in the minority.

Like I said, the thought behind the vote is reasonable. [Aside] "Changhill Crazy Strategy #45" First Round No Vote as Seer. [/end] But I think we can do better than just a safety vote. I see SPV as kinda of a crutch, it makes the game sorta robotic. Again, just the way I feel... the idea of SPV is still rather new to me (due to my long hiatus) So your view of SPV and mine are seperated by a length of time. After playing more game, I may actually change my views... maybe

UNC, cab, deb, and possibly HP, know me the best. I am always being radical one way or another.

The SPV system is at least as old as I am and the backbone of any reputable game here played in that time. In that time, of which Chang has played in a handful to say the least, he's never made any kind of splash against the SPV system and he certainly isnt new to it. MY honest guess, is his boy from a bygone era (UNC) is back, and he wants to show some solidarity against these new fangled SPV crutches

The seer is our only advantage as humans. By forgetting or refusing to vote, you help expose the seer since the seer must vote to get a divination The wolves will have a smaller pool to eat from and will be more likely to eat the seer since they'll only eat someone who votes (if they're smart)

should everyone get a vote in to protect the seer? absolutely. but too many people just use it as a crutch, like chang said, to avoid stepping on people's toes, and in the end, not much info is gleaned. what i think chang is trying to say is that people should be bolder with their votes, and not worry about offending anyone with them. upset feelings and controversy give us lots of information to work with, and it causes wolves to make mistakes.

that being said, i will follow this advice and switch my vote to mathgeek, who hurt us by not getting a vote in last round

I have no problems with a mathgeek vote, and quite frankly his talk is digging himself deeper this round. Deb claimed recently how she plays WWG as honestly as possible, Ive seen several other people take that a step further and say they "NEVER LIE! If I tell you Im human I'm human" It saddens me that no one challenges those people by the most logical method, ask them to tell you they're human. Either they will change their methods or they will be gone very quickly as a wolf.

My only problem with Chang is he is misrepresenting himself, and I think it has something to do with your reappearance. Suddenly out of nowhere he is going to show us the error and lead us to the light? SPV is just a way to get started, people who are going to use it as a crutch are not going to be much help anyway...though I will agree with you there, a person (who I guess Ill leave nameless ) laughed at me when I called him inactive "I posted and voted, what more do you want " Those types of players are gonna be useless SPV or not

This is a roleplaying game not the church

I agree people should be confrontational, but I think the only people who hide behind SPVs aren't really going to be aggressive or provide anything useful anyway. At least spving makes them somewhat useful in being wolf bait
But beyond that, you should note that spvs are not random as people claim them to be...I've discerned humans from wolves many times just by looking at the pattern of their SPV. The only hard ones to read are good wolves, but the average human overthinks the vote and often it helps expose them.

SPVs were a great 'invention.' It used to be that some plain humans would refrain from voting every round just so that the wolves would be more likely to leave them alone at night. Not only a selfish tactic, but lousy logic since the seer would be more exposed.

I'm going to join the vote for mathgeek. Non-SPVers be gone!

I am back, I've read the posts (and I will add more in a bit).

**Changhill's Life Update**

Well we won our first game 15-2. The other team was new and half of our players were walked. I was walked once and got on base with a lucky hit. I play third base; I caught two fly balls and made two throws two second for outs. Overall a good game for me. I am definitely not the athletic type and this is my second season, so I am happy...

I did flub a bit, I was on second and no one on first. The ball was hit to third and I ran . It was my fault I was paying attention and was tagged out... O well, learn from your mistakes.

***

I am gonna rehydrate and be back with actual game commentary.

Post-rehydration

I'm back! Umm just so I can make a valid argument against spider's claims. (If you want to investigate my past) Game #2721 is when I am unfamiliar with the concept of SPV. And Game #2780 is where I make a critical response to the SPV. As of now I do not protest a mathgeek vote. People that are currently on the back burner of my suspicion list are spider and unc, I am looking at HP and (well that's about it) still wait for people to join on into the convo.

I am also assuming that I didn't win the trivia as I never got a response to my entry, o well better timing next time

I am holding my vote.

Fair enough, however, to be clear...SPV does not prevent anything from happening. A round can become exciting or heated or whatever after SPVs have been established so blaming SPV is not appropriate. A major reason round one starts with an MoO is there are usually 2-3 inactives. It makes little sense to go 5 votes or so on an active player for little reason when some non-voters are in the mix, which is usually why majorities are restricted to 2 or 3 tops early on. Anyway, this group doesnt like MoO anyway, we shot an inactive in Jpost, thats what logically should have been done, so its weird to try to look into that imo.

Anyway, I'll have to believe you now...switching my vote to a random nobody just as a gesture

anyway, blaming SPV is like trying to cure a cold by not coughing. What do you think would happen if we banned SPV, all the sudden all the inactives and semi actives would rally and post meaningful content at a feverish pace? SPV is a simple useful tool, a foundation, nothing more, it neither causes, nor fosters any of the problems you have with the game, which incidently is the problem most of us have anyway..nothing new, nothing different, and certainly not SPV to blame

I'm a good wingman but taking a bullet so you can get the girl is a little extreme.

And yes there is 100% no question that SPVs are a good thing, nobody has ever said that an SPV has to override any thoughts you may have about legitimately good votes with a random choice, and nobody here thinks MoOs are a good idea. If people weren't prompted to vote each round by the "everyone must SPV" mantra we wouldn't have a glut of well thought out votes, we'd simply have very few votes (and a very exposed seer).

SPVing for now like a good sausage.

If everybody is jumping on the bandwagon, then you can be pretty sure I'm not a wolf. If you shoot too many humans, remember, the game is over. Save humans to continue the game to run. You have to shoot WOLVES to win, guys!

Swap votes ASAP, please! Gonna try to make myself another majority.

Please, please work.

I'll follow another mini-maj and vote Smithy.

sorry HTML is terrible on this site/computer combo so its very hard to color things etc

Thinking about a switch to UNC, odd that for the issues with SPV thats pretty all he's given of this round, but I'd like to see him down the line when things get interesting......very tough round to decide on here

Id also like to see something more from Evi too

I will likely get just one quick chance to pop back in and vote later and theres a lot of ways this ball can roll baby so here's what Im thinking

People Id vote for

Mathgeek
UNC
Evi

maybe Cab
maybe Softball
maybe Deb..but I sort of feel like I owe her not voting her this round

People I wont vote

Harry
Smithy
Chang..probably

That said Im swithching to Evi and heading out. Quiet, with her only comments being about the SPV rather than the game, a safe topic for a wolf to post on...anyway, Ill be back to make a final decision

EDIT

and you read it wrong Har, hilariously wrong, Daffy was like the first vote on MG and like the first or second vote posted overall

I'm about to head out and won't be back before the end of the round, not sure what my best move is here, unc has mostly talked in generalities rather than specifics but being round 2 there aren't many specifics to talk about yet. Geek's lack of SPV is more dopey than suspicious but his talk as if it's a completely ridiculous reason to vote for him is grating. I think I'll keep my vote on cab though, her vote for me may have just been carelessness or tiredness but given she had earlier said about voting for non-SPVers and we still had a couple left to choose from at that point it's a bit suspect, and I don't want to carry on letting people off for doing suspicious things because that's how they often are (coughHarcough).

And maybe Deb is "a little off" because she had to lie about her role? To be fair, she isn't normally reluctant to say she's human.

oki, mathgeek is a very unlikely seer which makes him a "safe" shot in that we won't accidentally hit the seer, besides that the wolves won't have one seer candidate less and he is a bit wolfish but a lot of people are willing to shoot him and it's kinda early (i think) to bus a fellow wolf so i dunno

i think cab is acting weird

i dunno what about unc makes me feel like voting him but something does and his inactive so no big loss, besides, no need to end then round early when everybody hasn't gotten a vote in yet

i wanna keep votes away from Harry, Spider, and Smithy cause i know they're good so i'd rather shoot them later than sooner, besides, none of them has done anything funny (yet)

that thoughts i have for now, sorry i'm not as good at this game as you Spider ^.^

edit: oh and i'll switch to mathgeek if somebody tie smithy up with him o.o

morning

weird huh, well it was just a cheap shot to ask me so early in the game ( and yes i might be teaching dan a lesson by (censored by WHO)

so i am going to make a list

the list:

caberet - back burner, i think life is interrupting her play
changhill - mayhem - not feeling it yet
debc1 - thanks dan
dfamina - no read - quiet
Evita - leaning human
HarryPutter - don't know
Longhorn_fan - haven't formed an opinion yet
Mathgeek007 - i forgot to vote 1 game and got hammered
SirHar - hasn't gone dark yet...will see but thinking human
Smithy - what a talkative chap this game
The_Spider - we will see
unctarheel - back from a long hiatus - will wait
xxsoftballxx13x - not feeling it

i am happy with my vote for now

Will have to vote fairly soon, I dont really think MAthgeek has aquitted himself at all, and to be honest I dont think the pile on indicates he is human, its just as possible wolves jumped on him too.....still SOME time for me to decide though so hang tight

also as Evi alluded to, as a wolf it is always a nice bonus when the human let a non-voter survive, one more seer off the check list which can make a big diff

I agree that he didn't really acquit himself (at least not to the best of his ability), but he had admitted he had all but given up [sorta]. I don't think that he was fairly voted against. So, for the time being I am at least willing to put him into a tie and give him a small fighting chance that I think he deserves.

My vote will stand unless someone is willing to offer another alternative. My vote is partially on suspicion but mostly based on activity and contribution.

Geek isn't necessarily cleared of being seer he'd just have 1 less divination to offer as help

True, but that makes him an unspeakably bad one

Im curious about a softball/mathgeek connection, and have to vote pretty soon, unless one of you cares to sell me on someone else (or even sells me on maintaining the status quo) and I think I'll vote Geek

Gotta go, sorry Geek

For chang's benefit (and perhaps my own), I just want to let something be known. While I haven't said anything since my post near the beginning of the round, I've been checking the game every hour or so, and keeping myself up to date on what's been taking place. Truth is, even though Math was just my SPV, I haven't really felt the need to change my vote, and I still don't.

Math hasn't formed any sort of defense beyond "I just forgot to vote!" and the fact that he isn't trying tells me he's just as well off shot. I don't know why, but we seem to always have one player who's active but doesn't try and defend themselves when staring down the barrel of whatever sort of gun we're firing.

Spider argued the SPV point better than I could have, and I didn't want to make a post that simply said "Not changing my vote. Just thought you'd all like to know." I haven't had a good reason to suspect anyone just yet, but I'll posting whatever opinions I have next round, for what they're worth.

And that's my two cents.

If I had the chance to log on earlier, I might have changed my vote from math (I didn't really expect a bandwagon thing). However, now it doesn't really matter and would be pointless to change my vote. I think the part that bugs me the most about him (especially now) is his lack of defense. He has logged on, posted, but hasn't really provided us with a reason not to shoot him. I guess the forgetting to vote thing in the first round could be excused, but this irks me more...

I have to go to work, so... *fingers crossed*

In a desperate attempt...

I mean really. Why attack one person because he is forgetful. You are all being ridiculous and refuse to play the game for what it's worth You don't vote off people because they're forgetful, you vote them off because you THINK they're wolves. If you continue with this bullshaft strategy, the wolves will tear through you before you know it. Please, vote for dfamina and spare me, a scared 6-year old in a dark corner begging his captors for forgiveness...

Oh, and if a SINGLE person who is voting for me switches to my vote, we have a tie and I could dodge another bullet. Please!

I guess to DF (if that's an appropriate nickname) I wasn't expecting a strong argument, just an argument. Now that he's better articulated his defence, he's right. Forgetting to vote should not be punishable by death. I am not trying to save his life, but he shouls at least get the chance to fight for it.

As far as activity, people have different levels of activity. I am glad to hear that you're keeping up with the post (and no more SPV discussion was necessary after spider called for a cease and desist ) , and I think your vote is valid and warranted. But activity includes talking. Even a simple list like deb, where you have a small out line of your thoughts are helpful.

I haven't looked at the final vote list, but only like 30 mins to go.

I'm not really certain why I'm in a second majority, though I can't fault the "trying to keep things interesting" argument. However, I don't wish to die, and I'm quite sure I don't have any fur, so I'm going to keep my vote where it is and hope that no one else switches to me.

I'm generally pretty quiet in these games compared to others unless I'm actually involved in a conversation. And I was more talkative last game because the Mario Party theme gave us more to talk about.

My defense is simply this: I'm here, I'm voting, and though I'm not saying much, I'm definitely keeping track.

Only second round, hard to say. I don't exactly trust you, HP.

And DF, if you're human and to be shot, I am sorry. You were sorta placed in a bad situation, and you can rightfully blame myself. I kept an open mind to other possible tie votes, but none appeared. While you were not screaming "wolf," you were my highest suspect.

***EDIT TO ADD**

I mean that's what early rounds are for, allow for mistakes so that you can get a feel. I feel like I have learned from the situation and more about unfamiliar players. So I will call the a good round.

It's likely a human tie cause thats the most probable result. Youd be hard pressed to trust 8-9 out of 13 people in any regard.

and lets not mince words cause its getting a bit annoying. Mathgeek is not being shot solely because he didnt vote, he's being shot because he's Mathgeek and he didnt vote. If it was someone who in the past has shown a strong willingness to contribute, a missed vtoe could be overlooked, but Mathgeek has so such credentials to his benefit, so missing a vote is a much bigger deal

you shot another human

and it looks like both a wolf and a human got the brain teasers right

im not allowing them to take credit for getting the answers

and they both chose the mystery box, when they decide to activate the effects then i will let you guys know then
