Round 5 Challenge
An Ode-ious Challenge
Every so often, out of the blue/blue
I get the urge to write a haiku!
Tell me who this one's about
And you will earn the right to vote!
Viewed on many screens
Silver panes 'neath flaming red
Emblematic name
Hint #1: heartache/heartache
Hint #2: ICU bed
Hint #3: Here's one little chair for one of you, and a bigger chair for two to curl up in, and for someone who likes to rock, a rocking chair in the middle.
Boss Toss: N/A
The randomly selected Scapegoat for this round is tukuwakatiki.
Tuku, please cast your vote for yourself now. If you earn - or are extended - the right to vote, you may change it.
Other players are not allowed to vote for tuku until/unless she is able to change his vote!
Reveal: Shadows was human. Two wolves and the seer remain in the game.

Wow, this is going to be difficult to figure out. For those who have the chance to vote need to vote KM as she is our 3rd wolf.

Deb the photo identification quiz is in the trivia section.
So I wonder if shadows was the sacrificial lamb or did the wolves earn the right to vote.
Also gizzer stated last round that 3 people got the right to vote but only 2 voted (not counting the scapegoat vote) so it looks like maybe a wolf earned the right to vote but did not extend to their team and didn't vote during the day so no one knew.

Two wolves left, so, there is no way both earned the right to vote unless you think KRUGER is a wolf since Shadows clearly wasn't :p But in any case, no, I am nearly certain that none of the three who earned the right to vote was a wolf. I do think kmr is the way to go next though and then buu. As for the clue though? No idea. Searches lead me to think the silver pane may be the screen of a gameboy, but, honestly, that is likely a red herring... Not even really sure where to begin... The strangest part of the haiku is the "Emblematic name" which I think is where we need to start.
well km is a wolf

I haven't really had anything to contribute, but don't worry, I'm here and working on the puzzles, just... more on my own. I don't like brainstorming here so much... my thoughts are too incomplete and I'll get overwhelmed solving the puzzles here.
And I have only had the right to vote twice and the second time i didnt have time to review everything that happened and vote properly before the round ended.
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

I agree that the wolves did not earn the right to vote, it is unfortunate that Shadows was the sacrificial lamb. The three people who earned the RTV were all from team Alpha, and since there are only three people on that team left, that makes sense. We know Alpha is wolf-less, and last night confirmed that.
We need to make sure a group earns the right to vote so we don't end up just shooting the scapegoat. I think KM this round? And then next round we can start going through my group. I almost wish a human in team Bazinga ends up the sacrifical lamb tonight so there is one less possibility to choose from to find a wolf (since all other humans will be known at that point).
Giz, two questions. A) Can a wolf end up as the sacrificial lamb? B) Can I volunteer to be the sacrificial lamb?

So basically, if we don't solve the clues, the wolves will win by default? That actually sounds more fair. That would mean that it's in the wolves best interest to see that the groups fail to solve clues. I'm actually warming up to this game format gizzer

Okay so, I'm just going to go line by line.
The first stanza just explains the the challenge: Gizzer felt like being poetic & for us to be able to vote we have to figure out who the next stanza is referring to.
Viewed on many screens - Could be Movie Theatre, Home Television, Computer Screen. It could also be those privacy screens (shoji).
Silver panes 'neath flaming red - Panes remind me of window panes; the "flaming red" is illustrative of Hell. "Silver pane" is also apparently a metal (or at least something relating to jewelry) - perhaps the "Flaming Red" is hair and the silver panes are earrings?
Emblematic name - the name is symbolic for something.
As for the title of the challenge - An Ode is a lyrical stanza dedicated to someone/thing and Odious means "Extremely unpleasant". This makes me think it's an "Evil Redhead"
I briefly considered the fact that it's a haiku & that Shoji fits with the "screens", that it could have something to do with Japanese folklore but I can't get a demon/deity to fit.
That's all I got
Edit: Lance slipped in a post while I was writing up my homework but he reiterates my thoughts - it's more important for us to earn the right to vote than it is to keep one wolf from voting. We do have some very clever players and 40hrs left in the game, but still; I don't see why we can't work together on this now.

Yuffie, Round 3 was on Braingle, it was this word search, we just found the answer a different way. I think it is a good idea to look on Braingle. We have used teasers for round 2, word search for round 3, and photo ID for round 4. What other places might Giz use? I tried Literaure-poetry quizzes, but no. Mentalrobics? The Forums?

Also, Gizzer, there's no use telling us who's been eaten, since we know only humans can be eaten.

Sonic, that is not true. Telling us who is eaten lets us know if the seer is still in the game.
KM, we know that there is a wolf in your team, and it is either you or wittykitty. Most of us are more suspicious of you, but if you turn out to be a human, she will be the next shot. This all happened about mid way through last round if you want to see the details.

If you are a human, kmr, why don't you accept the plan? It's a good idea to sacrifice a human to get a wolf. Plus, that sounds very wolfish.

EDIT AGAIN: Just found this quiz about types of poems but not much about who this one's referring to.

Well, looks like KRUGER got it - she just needs to pass voting rights to the rest of her team or Team Bravo & we'll be guaranteed to shoot KM.
Actually, it takes 7 votes to end the round - there should be enough members in team Alpha & Bravo to all vote KM and end the round early (so that the last wolf may not have time to figure out the clue).

Round 5 Challenge
An Ode-ious Challenge
Viewed on many screens
Silver panes 'neath flaming red
Emblematic name
Solution
Let's start with the hints.
Hint #1: heartache/heartache
If this were written on two lines, it would be easier to see that it is a rebus, that should be read as "heartache on heartache". This is a lyric from the old Bobby Vinton song Blue on Blue. I later added white text to the opening stanza so there would be a "blue on blue" as well, just so there would be a clue there for sonic to find. "Blue on blue" describes the colour scheme of the top and left-hand borders of all Braingle pages, if you use "Normal" theme.
Hint #2: ICU bed
This is another rebus. If you disregard the space and capitalization, it reads simply icubed.
As you can see, the "i" in the Braingle logo is "dotted" with a cube. (I've always assumed it's meant to be a Rubik's cube.)
Hint #3: This line comes from the old Canadian children's show The Friendly Giant. After he arranges the chairs for his guests, he always says, "Look up. Look w-a-a-y up." Way up in the top left corner of every Braingle screen, you'll find
His name is Neslo.
Of the remaining players, 6 earned or were extended the right to vote.
Reveal: kmrutledge was a wolf.
Round 6 Challenge
Black or White
At daybreak, all remaining players will be blindfolded and have hats placed upon their heads. The hats will be either black or white.
Each player will be selected, one at a time. That player's blindfold will be removed so that he can see all the other hats. Using just this information, he will attempt to guess the colour of his own hat. He may only say "black" or "white". If the player successfully guesses the colour of his hat, he will earn the right to vote. If he is incorrect, he will not earn the right to vote, and will be shot! Then, the next player will have his turn to guess.
You have the night to discuss your strategy.
Obviously, there are only two possible answers, so each player will have only one chance to answer correctly. Also, all players must submit their guesses before I will respond or announce who has earned the right to vote.
