Well, this is a good start. (It started, didn't it? ) Looks like the boss is either ridiculously formal and grammar-loving, or pretending to be that way. There were a couple of errors though, but we'll see. Whoever the boss is, HA. I cracked up. Really going above and beyond the (company) requirements there.
Edit: Random safety vote for reggie for now.

Well, we can clear a few from the fact many hates maths, like me for example!
reggie is cleared, so I suggest not voting her, kitty-cat.
EDIT: I think the boss might be American, because they say "math" and not "maths" which we say in NZ or Australia. Voting talanpoe for now.

I don't clear too many because of a spelling difference between countries anymore... too many of become wise to that trick... though I never heard math called maths - so some words could slip by. I am going to safety vote for kitty cat right now... just because I am here and now I am gone for a bit.

Math has never been my favorite subject, and probably never will be. Although my teacher this year is pretty cool, right now I would probably say Virtual Business is. Ironic, considering this game is supposedly a "virtual (online) business (company)." Joining your vote for talanpoe for now as well.

Holy Cow, this game has started!! I was getting ready to call it a night, but just had to check Braingle one last time before shutting things down. Glad I did. Now, I need to see who is playing, be right back.
Okay then, as anyone who has played in the 1 vs 100 Games will tell you, I hate math. I stink at math. If it can't be figured out by counting my fingers and toes, or on my trusty calculator, it just doesn't need to be figured out as far as I'm concerned.
And yes, verbose and talanpoe do have a lot in common, but for some reason I don't think the memo sounds like him at all. So, will safely vote for Gizzer, not that I think it sounds like her either, but I don't want to become a mandatory.
Edit: vote locked in.

Hey guys, I don't really know who most of you are, or much about the game, so you will have to bear with me. The 'Math' spelling does indicate more someone from the states and there are one or two here who work with figures for a living. I will probably join a majority at this stage and see how things pan out. Though perhaps I should cast a 'safety' vote for someone.. I'll 'safety' vote for Rhythmic.

Yes but for all we know it's just a smart boss I've known players in the past to play around with australian to american spelling with maths or canadian to american spelling with colour/color or favourite/favorite. Even if the spelling is honestly representing the person's homeland, the majority of the people here are american.
The only people it could 'clear' would be Gizzer and myself (canadian) and greenapples (NZ.. or australia? I don't know the flag lol). Even then I wouldn't trust it, especially considering Gizzer, GA and I have all played before. Any one of us could potentially be like "rawr I shall mispell but not mispell to through these suckers off MWAHAHAHA"

I'll change my vote too. Anyone here really like logic puzzles? It has the same kind of black-and-white thing as math, and this is a brainteaser site...So the boss could like those too.
Edit: Oh, and as the Boss says "You expect me to remember my days in school," I'm assuming that he/she is out of school. That rules out the younger players, unless it was just to throw us off.

There's a few on here(Elios, Gizzer, GreenApples27, jpost, ppjones, PYTHON, RGW4, Rhythmic, talanpoe, JamFish), myself included, who have the Sudoku puzzle award. Not sure if that counts for anything..?
@Kitty, the boss said "You expect me to not only like something in school, but to remember it as well?", that almost makes it look like they're TRYING to make us think it's someone older :/ because they say "remember IT" it makes me wonder if it's just clever wording for someone who doesn't pay attention in class and can't remember a subject they like in school because of that?
I think the boss might be some one who's younger, either than or an older person who's trying to be too obvious in an attempt to use reverse psychology? ... Not sure anymore. xD but I wouldn't count out the younger players quite yet.

I concur JamFish on that reasoning of school. Played in a game where the boss was about a 25 year old and said pretty much the same thing.
I had two years of spanish in the 7th & 8th grade... and by the time I started the 9th grade, I pretty much forgot everything I was taught during those two years. I didn't really want to take the class, but it was mandatory. Now, some 40 years later, I wish I had applied myself, it would have helped me with some of the contractors I work with. And note, as I explained this, I referred to spanish as "it", so your reasoning can easily apply to any single class. However, the boss did say his/her favorite class was math, so it must have been something he/she remembers.

All right, makes sense. Let's overanalyze some other things. The Boss sounded like he/she was trying really hard (just, trying hard in general) in the memo/pysch answer, but they made a grammar error. "it's" instead of "its." Don't know what this has to do with anything, though.

It is hard to tell if that would be a grammar error or a typo. I know when I write longer posts, I'll miss something simple like that. They might have just missed the apostrophe.

@RGW4, that's another thing about the boss's answer. It's saying "if I MUST" choose.. it almost sounds as if the boss doesn't have a favourite class? Maybe we're dealing with a jack of all trades or something also looking back they mention "you expect me to not only like something in school.." .. so they could dislike school altogether?
As for the "its", not sure if it might be a typo or further proof that the boss may be younger?
over-analyzing ftw
P.S I haven't said it but kudos and thanks to the boss for getting so into character it's making this a lot of fun.. albeit my brain is killing me now.. so..many.. possibilities.

The boss isn't sure why math would be important to his office as boss. Math is more than just playing with numbers. It is basis for helping in logical thinking, something a boss should need. (as well as the employees, if we are ever going to figure out who he is). It involves using given facts and arriving at a logical conclusion. I'm not sure I want to work for a boss who cannot see the use for mathematics in the workplace; it displays narrow-minded thinking.
That being said, I have no logical course to take at this point, so I will go with Rhythmic to ensure a majority.

There goes your job, jpost. Never call the boss narrow-minded. The boss wasn't talking about math not being important, just that he/she didn't see how the question in general 'reflected on his/her ability to run this company.' But arguing over trifles won't get us any closer to an answer. We don't have much to go on now, so I guess it doesn't matter. Sigh. I hate waiting for the end of the round.

@jpost, I agree with kitty-cat, I think they're trying to say that the question on which subject is their favourite doesn't reflect their abilities as a boss.

Well, it looks like only one mandatory, we will see. If Rhythmic is the boss and the rat voted for the boss (which sort of seems odd for round 1)... you still have 7 good votes of 13 possible... seems like Rhythmic is cleared beings the game is not over.
Edit - at the time of my post here, I only followed the voting pattern Jamfish had up this point and there were only 8 votes for Rhythmic at the time of this post. PPJ came in after Jamfish had the previous update and I did not have his vote as part of my statement. So - there should be no mandatories. There are still only 13 active votes... 9 for Rhythmic, so he absolutely NOT the boss.

In a nutshell, the math (yes, I love math too) works out to having a rat-proof majority if you have 1/2 the total player count rounded up to the next whole number.
We have 15 players, so 15/2=7.5 rounded up to 8 is rat-proof. I count 9 votes for Rhythmic so I think we have a cleared person.

ok kitty, it is a play on words... the rat does not vote, yet the rat does state a vote - and that is the factor we are deciphering(?).
And there are a few of you who say that the boss could be in on the vote tally for Rhythmic - which I have to laugh on. If the boss stated a vote on Rhythmic (which is highly likely now that we know Rhythmic is not the boss)... that to me really does clear Rhythmic. Rhythmic did not vote for Rhythmic, so if the boss stated a vote for Rhythmic - then Rhythmic can not be the boss (and that creates a double take - )
To me, only one vote should be removed from the conspiracy tally... if you remove two, you already removed the boss as being the culprit you are evaluating! Just trying to help...

Ya, Reggie was gone for I think it was 7 or 8 days when the round started. Only just came on when the game started.
If we ARE waiting for the boss (no guarantee here) I'd say we can safely assume it's HIGHLY UNLIKELY that Kitty-Cat, Gizzer and RGW4 are the boss. Now as for the rat who knows. And Rhythmic is clear so no point posting him. Unless they're being clever? Thankfully they're all active players, so they're in maybe safe in my books for a while unless someone finds something directly posting to one of them.
Also, the logged in list:
Elios

PYTHON,

I'd suggest voting one of these four next round, depending on who comes on line in time for the round to start. or cccgirl if the round starts within the next couple of hours. (providing our mod is online)
