This is going to be the most hilarious WTB game EVER, but only if players participate.
I've been thinking; someone really should start a WTB game where you're supposed to post funny and random stuff, pictures included. So, the task I'm presenting you with is to post the funniest thing that you can find, that is still related to the topic.
1) First person to post MUST choose the topic. Make it something common (and awesome), like "Harry Potter" or "nerds". Nothing like "Twilight" or "love"... Those aren't much fun.
2) Be appropriate. If it has naughty words in it, black it out, or something. DO NOT POST IT. If it has anything that CG would not like or approve of, DO NOT POST IT. If SirHar would probably approve of it, DO NOT POST IT.
3) Be funny, active, and kind.
4) Don't test my patients. That means you, JJ.
5) Have fun!
"Proud?" said Harry. "Are you crazy? All those times I could've died, and I didn't manage it? They'll be furious...." |

No, not books, JJ. That's not feasible! This year's topic is transportation infrastructure.
And thank you kitty. I don't think most of the state would hate them if they socialized with us. They hid out in the basement, while everyone else was in the commons area. They don't stand to clap for anyone else but themselves; they have horrible sportsmanship. They're sore losers when they don't win, and arrogant and conceited when they do. Through out the entire state, they have a horrible reputation, and NO ONE likes them.
Sorry. I just had to vent.
In addition to all that complaining up there (^) but I do think something has happened within all the judging. We ended up losing to a case that ran false evidence (that in itself should have DQ'd them) and all they're definitions were wrong. Problem was, we couldn't bring that up because they had just given the last speech. They said that there were 57 billion people in the US, and they would fund the project through deficit spending (which they claimed was people buying shares in the government), and they wouldn't increase taxes, but if they did, it would be less than a dollar per person. This is wrong because:
A) There are only 7-8 billion people on the planet
B) Who would buy shares in the government? Deficit spending is borrowing money from China, basically.
C) Taxes don't increase by less than a dollar.
SO FRUSTRATING.

I think your problem is that you have to go to the full size image to get the URL, then use that. The link has to go directly to the picture, not just a website featuring the picture.

Yeah, sure. And look, if you do this it works too:
You start with 12/21/12
And you take off the ends cuz they're the same - 21
And for obvious reasons you subtract 21 - 0
And if you turn it sideways
You can clearly see
a potato.
Right, you could make up anything and do that. Doesn't prove ANYTHING.
I don't think the world will end. But if it does, I'll be dressed as a zombie anyway - our school is having dress-up days all next week and Friday is "Survivor Day."

9th. And our school is AMAZING. It's an alternative (not THAT kind of alternative) high school where it's all project based, and nothing is weird there, because everything is. You see people carrying around baby dolls and giving other people non-doll hamsters, both of which happened today. And, of course, we dress up like zombies.

*shakes head* Now we have decided to move BACK to NY, because it's not SAFE in an UNFAMILIAR TERRITORY
May our thoughts and prayers be with the 20 children who died today in Newtown, CT, as well as 6 teachers (including the principal) the shooter, and the shooter's mom. *sigh* It's outrage, I mean--SERIOUSLY. The teachers told the kids that a FREAKING ANIMAL had BROKEN LOOSE. Seriously--you can't hide the truth from them FOREVER.

The media disgusted me in their coverage of the tragedy.
1. They first blame a guy who DIDNT EVEN DO IT. After giving his Facebook page out, the poor guy is suffering from some serious libel and slander.
2. They interview the kids! I mean, after surviving some horrible incident like that, why would I want to be swarmed with reporters??? These children are 7 years old. At least wait a few days before badgering them with questions. Ugh.
Either way, I cant imagine what the families must be going through, I hope they don't get forgotten.

It it sad. Some of those kids are only 2 years younger than me. That's scary. I think they should ban guns and you have to get intervewed and checked to get a hunting one. Seriously, this world is sooo messed up.

But thin about this, if they ban guns, how do we defend ourselves when we need to? I say people under 25 should not be able to touch one unless it is a real emergency, and parents who own guns should keep them where kids cannot get to them. I think if we take away guns, other things that are worse than this might happen.

The facts speak for themselves, kmr. Gun restrictions decrease gun violence. Plenty of countries have already proved this. We were in a very different time when the founding fathers gave us the right to bear arms. Time to move on.

How exactly did you decide that it's safer in the US than Canada JJ?
I'm glad the teachers told the KINDERGARDENERS that someone was just hammering. You can't just walk into a classroom and say "Hey kids! There's a guy out there shooting at your classmates! He's trying to kill us!" The teacher that took her students and locked themselves in the bathroom probably saved their lives.
And no gun ban or restriction is going to prevent something like this from happening again. Look at the movie theatre massacre. He was insane, but he still got the weapons. Mentally disturbed people who are looking for blood won't be stopped by the law, seeing as their overall goal defies more still.
And koin, you can't just "rewrite" the constitution. Those are our basic rights as American citizens, and the government can't take them away because of one person. It's unconstitutional.
Slam, you do have to get interviewed to get a gun license. You have to have registration for each gun you have.

Well, part of being a psychopath is not knowing you're mentally unstable. Besides, if you plan to kill a bunch of people, you not right in the head to start with, now were you? Who's going to turn themselves in because they think they're insane? No one, especially if they're about to buy a bunch of weapons!

You're totally right CG. You should have a chat with Defense.
a) The intercom was on and was playing shots and screams. That gave everyone else time to hide.
b) A custodian ran down the hall shouting "A gunman is loose! A gunman is lose!" (Paul Revere-esque)
c) A child "Grabbed his friends a nd ran out the door".
d) A teacher jumped out the rescue window after her class O.o they all survived.
e) 3 guns were found--a Glock and a Sig Sauer. Another machine gun was found in his car.
f) Now I'm just spouting random facts o.O
g) 27 were found dead at the school: 20 5-10 year olds, 6 teachers (including the principal) and the shooter who committed suicide. Talk about psychopath
h) His mother was found dead at the house.

I did a lot of research on the effectiveness of firearm restrictions. Short version: Denmark has a lot more regulations and restrictions, leading to over 10x less gun murders each year. They have had 0 mass murders in the last 20 years, we have had 7 this year. If anyone wants me to post the full thing, I'd be glad to.

My point is this- take Thailand for instance, they are not allowed to own guns in Thailand. Therefore, the people have no way to protect themselves. Like you guys said, no guns means no gun violence, and that is true with Thailand, but people still no how to get them. Sad to say that there is still alot of crime in Thailand. And do you remember what happened with Germany? Adolf Hitler disarmed the people, and therefore, he was able to do whatever he wanted.

Kitty is right: People will steal guns anyway. I completely agree, but if someone REALLY wants to go on a mass killing spree, laws aren't going to stop them.

The second amendment states we have the right to bear arms. It's in the Bill of Rights. You can't just "rewrite" it. It can be added to, but to remove that right would be unconstitutional. In 200 years the Constitution has stayed to same. The Bill of Rights has been added too, but never had rights taken from it. The founding fathers gave us those rights as Americans, and they can't be taken away because of a few messed up people, it's just not right.

kitty: I agree with that; it was very insightful.
koin: No, you need to have licenses and registration in every state.
JJ: No the Constitution is the same. They've added to the Bill of Rights, which is the other part of the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Ever heard the term? They may have changed some things, like putting a term limit on a President's time in office, but the general ideas remain the same. Changing the second amendment, however, is a completely different story.

In my opinion, what Freeman said here is rhetoric, and nothing more.
I agree that the shooter wanted to be remembered as a beast rather than be forgotten as a loser. However, that's about the only thing with which I agree.
While I hate Western media in general, I don't think they should be blamed for getting the shooter remembered. If you commit a shocking crime like this, it's unlikely you'll ever be forgotten - you don't need the media for that. It's like saying, hey, let's forget Jeffrey Dahmer, L. Ron Hubbard, Adolf Hitler, etc., and instead, let's try to put the names of their victims in history books.
The part about gun control was simply absurd. It seems that all he's trying to do in that little last paragraph is to characterise those who condemn the shooter as jerks, and to say that donating money to psychological research will somehow stop these crazy mass murders from coming. Well, while it's a nice thought, it's nearly as plausible as saying that if the whole world mourns for the victims, they will come back to life. OK, maybe not as implausible as THAT, but you get the idea. I do agree that curing psychological illness may prevent some of these massacres, but it takes time to do this and it will likely be impossible to wipe out mental illnesses completely. Not to mention that there are other motives for these murders. Gun control, however, can solve the problem immediately, or as we prefer to say in Chinese, stand a rod on the ground and see the shadow immediately.

Even so, gun control really doesn't do that much. Don't take that the wrong way or anything, I mean, it does help a lot. Just not for this specific problem, because like I mentioned before, people steal guns. Somebody who has no license, isn't old enough, or has a psychological problem, who's planning on killing people, won't be stopped by laws. Let me repeat that: They're planning on KILLING PEOPLE anyway. Laws don't stop murderers; they're already planning on breaking about half of them. Yes, if there are stricter gun control laws, there will be less guns laying around for people to take. But they can still find one, if they're really determined. I wrote 50,000 words in a month, because I was really determined to. If someone had that same level of determination to go and shoot up a school, for whatever reason, they're going to find a way to do it. So yes, gun control does help. But for this particular situation, people will find a way around the laws.

Hey! I was going to join this game since it just needed 2 more players & seemed fun, but I really wanna try the Family Feud game, so I'm going to Harry Putter, too sorry! But thanks for adding me, CG! I hope to catch your next game!
Just wanna leave you with a thought: If you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns. Hard drugs like cocaine are illegal, yet plenty of people still buy/sell it underground. Making it illegal really only just takes the Government & law out of it - those who would pass those tests listed above and use guns responsibly will no longer have them.
Not to mention the whole "guns don't kill people, people kill people" - Around the same time as this tragedy, a dude in China stabbed multiple children to death; there was no gun involved but still a madman killed innocent children.
instead of controlling the guns specifically, we need to focus on providing better mental health care - try to stop bullying and treat depression in youngsters seriously. If your child kills animals, you need to get them help b/c 9 times out of 10 serial killers or these crazy shooters tortured animals before they moved on to humans.
ANYWAY, just my two cents If this game is still open after HarryPutter's, I'll definitely be coming back!

I like HP's idea, but not the survey, so I'm stayin'. Have fun guys.
kitty, you managed NaNoWriMo not just because of your determination (which I, as someone who gave up after a couple thousand, think is superhuman), but also because you had easy access to the resources for it. You didn't have to beg, borrow or steal for them - OK, maybe you had to borrow, but certainly not beg or steal. If guns were banned, it would be much harder to find the necessary resources. Besides, it's much riskier to buy underground than from a normal store. That would discourage the madmen from getting guns. Yeah - that means they'll use knives instead. I do think there should be more restrictions on knives (such as restricting them to kitchens and the number of knives per household), but at least it's easier to kill a guy with a knife than a guy with a gun. It will still be horrible to lose innocent lives, but at least fewer will hopefully be lost without guns.

That's what we thought last time. Also, over half the players, plus the mod, have not logged on in at least 2 days. Going to jarmihis game, active store is always fun.

Remaining players
-TanCW (active)
-kmr (active)
-Me (active)
-Casey (active)
-max (7 days)
-DP (5 days)
-BJ (8 days)
JJ and koin had not left the game when koin said 'Also, over half the players, plus the mod, have not logged on in at least 2 days.'. Therefore, I conclude that koin was wrong.
Please don't abandon the game, CG. We have the most awesome round 0 in WTB history.

I googled it. It either means
You
Only
Live
Once
or
You
Obviously
Lack
Originality.
However, I'm 99% sure this came from a game that JJ proposed, where YOLO stands for:
Your
One
Liners are
Outstanding.
It's funny, though. Before all of this research, I thought it meant
Yellow
Octopi
Live in
Oceania.
(Oceania, by the way, is the area around Australia.)

CG, I was just being sarcastic about Thekid's post. Some guy on the Internet wrote that 'LOL' stood for 'Lucifer, Our Lord', 'BRB' stands for 'Beelzebub Rules Below' and some other nonsense, and told Christians not to use them. Some people are too obsessed with thinking up alternative meanings for abbreviations.

JJ might have had the idea also, but I guarantee this game is all my own. I kept forgetting about it, otherwise I would have started earlier. Where have YOU been? Since you haven't posted since December 12th, I forbid you to pick on the inactive players. Only active players can do that, otherwise you render yourself hypocritical.
And even if they are, I will deal with it accordingly. Haven't you people learned to trust me yet?
