ROUND 1!

Just like last time, I'll give you all a chance for discussion on an alternate psych question. Feel free to answer it or ignore it. The choice is YOURS!

What is you favorite food to cook (or make or prepare or whatever)?

Woohoo, round 1!

Ah, beans on toast. I learned of that meal from an English friend of mine. I thought it sounded extremely weird, but I made it to try - not too bad! (Not a fan of soggy bread, though...)

Going to vote Skybet as a safety - his flag is from the United Kingdom, and as I understand it beans on toast is a comfort meal over there. (Well, at least for my friend it is. )

I enjoy cooking, and would have a hard time picking my favourite meal to cook. Tonight I'm making one of my favourite meals - stir-fried peppers and shiitake mushrooms with tarragon and feta cheese on a bed of quinoa (cooked with vegetable bouillon and Greek seasoning), with slices of deli turkey. Yum!

LMAO I remember the first time I Tried Beans On Toast - I taped it actually & you can see it here if you're interested (Elios is the sister I talk about in the video, FYI)

Yeah... I'm not sure if Beans on Toast is really eaten anywhere other than England, so I'll vote Skybet, too. Might as well get a majority started the first round, right?

I don't really cook anything too fancy. Gizzer puts me to shame! I do enjoy preparing meals for my loved ones, but I don't actually like cooking so it's usually easy stuff for me. I mostly make Stir Fry & Stuffed Peppers (Sans Peppers LOL) although I do enjoy the occasional "fancy" meal but again, it's not the DISH I enjoy preparing, it's the reason behind it

I spy a few lemmings!

I like beans on toast, and it most probably was the first thing I learned to cook! I had no idea it was a British thing, do you not have baked beans in the states?? Not sure of any other Brits in this game but safety for PYTHON this round.

EDIT My favorite thing to cook has to be the almighty Thai Green Curry. I have my own special recipe and tastes amazing. Thai ingredients are so fresh and delicious

Sure, the US has baked beans. Boston is famous for them. They are just not typically served on toast.

I'm not really much of a cook myself. I do like to make a fairly simple stir fry with chicken (or pork), peppers (green, red, and maybe orange), water chestnuts, broccoli, and maybe carrots,

I also found a good recipe for a chicken tortilla soup and Amaertto is fun to make as well!

Yuffie, I just watched your video, and I had to laugh when I realized that I have those same plates!

Edit: My pepper dish is really easy to make. The hardest part, which isn't hard at all, is chopping up the peppers. It sounds fancy schmancy, but it's really easy! I baked a strawberry/rhubarb pie while I cooked and ate dinner, so we had a yummy dessert too! My neighbour's kid had a school fundraiser selling frozen pies - just pop in the oven and bake. Easy peasy!

Oh wow! I love those plates - My mother gave them to me when my parents got new plates; I decorated my whole kitchen in that English Garden theme, but sadly I lost all of my decorations (pot holders, apron etc) in my move when they were accidentally thrown out =(

Gizzer wrote:

My thoughts exactly. We have a LOT of different beans - they go great with Hot Dogs on the 4th of July etc - but Beans On Toast isn't a dish we commonly enjoy. In fact, most of the people I talk to here have no idea what that is, which is funny once you realize it's exactly what it sounds like

It could be possible someone's parents taught the Boss this easy European dish, but my bet is that it's part of their culture normally, like um... I dunno, hamburgers are to Americans or something Keeping my vote on Skybet we probably won't get a majority, but hopefully next round's memo will give us more insight!

Edit: ooh! Or like onigiri(Rice Balls) for Japan - Most American's haven't eaten Rice wrapped in seaweed, but if anime is to be believed, it's a very common snack in japan

Yeah it seems likely to be Skybet, there again, perhaps that is too obvious. Going to safety on my old friend Blondie.

Thanks python. Sorry about our other game.

Think we need to clear players -- need a majority on them (minus 2 .... Rat & Boss) in order to get people we can trust. Hmmm. What does everyone think ?

Players can be cleared by other means than majority votes. I consider Yuffie and Elios cleared, for example. Yuffie has shared a video that was posted on-line 2 years ago, documenting her first experience with beans on toast. I find it difficult to believe she never learned to cook anything else prior to making that video.

Skybet admits that beans on toast was likely the first dish he learned to make. As far as I'm concerned, that alone is reason enough to vote for him. Is it "too obvious" as has been suggested? Considering Skybet seems surprised that beans on toast is not eaten everywhere, he may have thought it was a safe answer.

Beyond that, I'm not going to over-analyze and second-guess myself into a case of paranoia. If Skybet isn't the Boss, then I could be fired. That's fine. Life will go on.

Well I don't know ... does ramen count? (Sorry - big sister couldn't pass up the opportunity. )

I can't really recall the first thing I learned to make. I guess as something that is actually a meal (and not, say, an hors d'oeuvres or side-dish) it would have been lasagna. Then when I moved out for college, I learned Shake-and-Bake chicken.

My favorite meal to cook...? I do like making sushi for my family. It's a lot of work, so I don't make it for myself very often. Two years ago, I made my first Thanksgiving meal - complete with turkey! It came out perfectly, if I do say so myself. So perhaps I'll soon have a favorite meal to make. ^^

Wow, those were my thoughts exactly. There are some meals that are so ubiquitous in one place that we may have no idea that other places haven't heard of it. For example, I had an online friend from Wales that had no idea what Peanut Butter & Jelly was (it was trying to explain how jelly was different from jam that was difficult). Perhaps that was just him, but the idea is the same.

And also like Gizzer, I don't mind being fired if it helps the Employee Team find the boss in the end. I'd rather that than be caught up in a repeating vote loop.

Just popping in to say that I COMPLETELY agree with Gizzer and Elios on this - sometimes the most obvious answer is the correct answer. Isn't it better to clear someone than avoid being a lemming because it's "too easy"? If I'm fired, I'll be bummed but I'll join another game.

Hey! I had already been living on my own at the time of that video & I only ate fast food during Finals so I had to have been making something! (Spaghetti mostly, but I also cooked Salmon and & Shake & Bake Chicken )

Looks like 4wheels missed the vote, and MrsBlondie didn't say who she was voting for, if indeed, she voted.
