Round: 0  1  2  3  4

The list of target voters with the corresponding effect to Influence Points has already been sent per Player through private message.

May you be reminded with a few things:

Influence Points
1. Everyone starts with 0 I-Points.
2. I-Points are accumulated and carried over to the following rounds.
3. Each Player will be updated with changes to personal I-Points accumulated per round.
4. The target voters are assigned in various random method as determined by the moderator.
5. The target voters and corresponding I-Points may or may not be the equal or similar with other players' depending on the method of randomness used.
6. Similar with typical WTB games, you are not allowed to communicate privately with other current Players during the entire game.

Hiring a Journalist

If a Player wants to ask psych question(s) to the Boss for the following round, the Player may hire a Journalist.
A Player can do so by sending "HIRE JOURNALIST to ASK [psych question to be asked]" to the moderator through private message.
This costs 2 Points per question.

1. The psych question must be of simple construction but must not be answerable by "Yes" or "No".
2. The psych question must also abide by the rules existing in Braingle such as proper use of language.
3. If the psych question is valid, it will be asked to the Boss as it has been written and will not be altered by the moderator other than adding the phrase "A journalist's question:".
4. The request to hire a Journalist may be done during anytime during the active round (Any request to hire a Journalist after the round and during the time the Boss is accomplishing the following round's memo will NOT count as valid.)
5. If the request is valid, a private message will be sent back as proof that the question will be asked on a following round (otherwise, no reply would be sent)
6. If a valid psych question from the Journalist would not make it on the immediate round to follow, then the question will be asked on the round after the next.
7. More than one simple question may be asked. This will cost 2 Points per question. If the Points are not sufficient, only the first valid questions would be asked.
8. If two or more Players request to hire a Journalist, only the first valid Player to ask the question(s) sent will be entertained.

Hiring a Hacker

If a Player wants to know who another Player voted for, the Player may hire a Hacker.
A Player can do so by sending "HIRE HACKER to hack who [Player name] voted for" to the moderator through private message.
This costs 2 Points.

1. The request to hire a Hacker should be done after the round is finished (Any request to hire a Hacker before the round is finished will NOT count as valid.)
2. The request to hire a Hacker can be made even before the update of I-Points (However, in case the request cannot be processed because of insufficient Points, the request will become invalid.)
3. If the request is valid, a private message will be sent back as proof that the request has been sent to the Hacker (otherwise, no reply would be sent).
4. If the Hacker successfully hacks through the network before the following round begins, the result will be revealed through private message only to the Hacker and the Player who hired the Hacker.
5. If the Hackers fails to hack through the network, no deduction from the hiring Player will be made.
6. If two or more Players request to hire a Hacker, only the first valid Player's request will be granted.

And hopefully to help you, I made a draft of flow of how things would happen in this game:

Sweet, it started. As for the memo, first impressions are spider and GA. Throwing out a safety for 30angel100. Now to get those I-Points.

Happy ever after in the marketplace, Desmond lets the children lend a hand. Molly stays at home and does her pretty face, and in the evening she's the singer with the band!

First inclination might be forrestgumpster, or someone else new to WTB and who doesnt yet realize long memos arnt a good idea , generally someone who's spirit hasnt yet been crushed by the assembly line that is WTB.

I apologize, I'm currently in work today (as in this very hour) and so I would not be able to complete the further explanation of rules. However, I have prepared enough for you to start with.

One major reminder:

For emphasis, the target voters list is a list of Players who should vote for you (EDIT: though there may be someone also who should NOT vote for you)! So make them vote for you.

It is to your own discretion how to accomplish that. It is also to your own discretion how to exploit the rules and mechanics of this game.

If I find an exploit to the rules to be destructive to the spirit of the game, I would announce it as early as I can. However, as long as I, the moderator, do not announce it, you may abuse it.

PS: This may go without saying, but I'll mention it anyway.

You are not obliged to let others vote for you. However, should you find it necessary for them to do so, that is where dilemma begins to enter.
Should you increase your points hoping it would help the team on later rounds?
Or clear Players as early as possible?

We could go on and on arguing about this (which is what I actually hope to happen), but this is where your wits come into play and decisions would rely on what to prioritize. Remember, though, the Boss and Rat also could earn those Points.

I hope you'd enjoy. Be posting in a while.

This is all so complex.

I don't really recognise any writing style. I highly doubt Spider is the boss, considering he says chumps, not chaps, and I don't think he'd go to the effort to put chaps in there since it is reasonably similar and could draw attention to him, and if he was playing the reverse psychology card, why not just say chumps? Anyway, so I am thinking not Dan (Spider, I always call him Dan and I will forget to change it every post, so just get used to the fact Dan = Spider).

I will put in a vote for someone I am more unfamiliar with at the moment... Werdna it is.

Yeah its not me, but it would be pretty stupid of me to use Chumps, being as you and possibly koin are the only people really familiar with me here. I'll worry about the influence angle tommorow morning....not sure how to balance swaying votes while also trying to get majority for a clear

Its started! I was wondering when we would kick-off. Not getting a great deal from the memo,m apart from it being long. Not seeing anyone in it yet just going to put a safety in for koin.

Whoop. Work done.

To all Players, I hope you would understand it when, once in a while, I give emphasis to rules and hint on particular strategies that you could use. There are situations that I would like to witness in this trial game. So I hope you would not find harmful what I may be revealing to the group. Thank you.

That was actually my exact thought (well, aside from the crushed spirits bit). I put in a safety for Forrest before posting; sorry for the mini-majority.

I don't have time to read all of the posts thoroughly right now, so I'll come back on my lunch break.

Edited the first post to explain how to hire a Hacker. Basically, the numbered rules there are included in case you want more clarification with rules. If you want the simple version, just read the first part of it.

Aaaaaaand...

If you want to increase those I-Points but can't figure out a way how, you don't need to plan too much.
You can simply just announce it in the game.
There are no rules prohibiting you to reveal your list and the amount of I-Points you have. Yes, that may be done.
However, posting screenshot of the private message is strictly prohibited.
Hence, it is up to you whether you would believe the claims of the other Players and it is up to them whether they should believe your claims.

Enjoy.

PS (unrelated note): I don't like how the smiley looks like in this posts. It seems like its smirking or plotting something evil from the looks of it.

Yummy - lunch time!

I reread the Psych answer. Wow, what a well-spoken Boss we have. I would not have thought of that much detail (stock portfolio??). I always appreciate the Boss playing along with the theme, though, so that's cool.

Edit to add: I only noticed now, 2 hrs later, that my post got cut off. Sorry about that! I can't remember exactly what I'd said. I did suggest that, if there are no rules about not sharing our I-Points voting lists, why don't we swap votes with each other? Then we'd have a few points to start using on Journalists and Hackers. Plus we could also gain some information based on the firings; MoO votes aren't 100% accurate, but they're somewhat helpful.

Sad for me to say, but that is actually a wonderful inquiry. But I am safe-to-say that I am not the Boss. You may think this all you choose to think, but when the time comes that I do get my spirit crushed, you sh'all see that I am not this monster-boss that you might think I am. Yet now that I read this over again and I see the new comments posted, you can see that The_Spider, in fact, has been inquiring that I am the boss an awfully lot of times. Could this mean something? I don't know, it is up to us to find out. My mind is telling me that he could be the rat, getting the attention to go to someone else in the crowd, other than the boss. Last time I checked, isn't this the job of the rat? Now we will see what decisions get made, and who gets out the first round. Good luck to all, and may the saying, "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what may be inside." go in your favor (meaning that you won't get fired). Good night to you all, and I will check out what is happening later today.

-Gumpy

P.S. Not to brag, but I think this teenager would make one good lawyer

I commented twice, one to post my suspicoun and second to suggest we get clear (which considering the inactives, is pretty ideal move right now)

You're trying too hard to solve the game too early haha

I'd be up for a Forrest majority.

From his posts: "inquiry", rare contractions, "sh'all", long post for round 1...

From the memo/psych: "chaps", "bright" (with this definition), "stock portfolio", "disdainful", "fruition"...

Also, if you don't want to join the majority, would 30angel and Izzie mind voting for me?

I can back a Forrest vote, so changing my vote to him.

I am my own target vote. So me voting Forrest is ruling out one of my two options. And koin doesn't seem to be keen on voting me anymore.
