Just looked up Big Boy online. IT appears that they do not exist outside the USA, and even then there are not too many areas that have them. The nearest one to where I live is in Port Gratiot, MI which though just across the border is an hour away. I have never been there.

No Big Boys here in my area. I have heard of the chain, but I don't recall ever eating at one even on trips /vacations out of the area. Nearest seems to be either Rochester, NY or Cleveland Ohio, both more than 2 hours away.

There's def no Big Boys in my area, at least not anymore. @pottercrazy, it is similar to Denny's in a way if you have ever heard of that. It used to be a big chain, almost as big as McDonald's. Guess I am voting 4wheels due to the MI connection.

I would say that this does not clear you then. As the boss is discussing something that they remember as a child, you could have been there when you were younger.
However, since we need a clear, I'd suggest 4wheels. That is where my vote is going. Perhaps the boss did not realise how limited an area Big Boy really services.

The memo is someone older. 30+ I would say.
The sound of the way they expressed the memory is definatly not teen sounding.
Bradon or 4 wheels would be my top pick.

Unless....the boss was raised in US and moved to another country.....however HABS is a back burner. If parents wanted to make special an hour drive is nothing, espically with sleepy children. Boss also said "wake US up". Boss has siblings.

While it is true that an hour drive to do something special would be nothing, at that late hour say take the boss's earlier estimate of 10 ,that would mean we wouldn't have got there until 11, an hour there (or so), an hour home, not home until 1am, then the boss said they got to swim or an hour or so - that would make it 2am There is no way in hell my parents would have let us stay up until 2am! Given that my mother was a nurse and my father was a real estate agent and both worked very long hours I doubt either of them would have wanted to stay up that ate either!
Besides my parents' idea of "fun" was to throw us in the car then drive for 8-10 hrs to take us to an amusement park, timed so we got there by 7 or 8 in the evening.

I f you're looking at people that are not in the US but could make a "special" trip there. Putter lists his location as Toronto. He is only about 90 minutes away from both Buffalo and Niagara Falls NY.
However my guess is the boss is American.

We never had a swimming pool. Back in the dark ages when I was young, backyard pools were unheard of except for the the very wealthy who had in ground pools. We all went to the municipal pool to swim, and it was not open at night. My Dad worked at the Post Office, delivered mail, we were not wealthy!
I'll join the 4wheels vote, I'm pretty sure she has siblings as well as lives in Michigan, but she isn't much past teens if even that.

I had no clue what Big Boys was till I looked it up a couple of seconds ago...
Well, its a place to eat...
I have never heard of it before. I haven't played with many of you before so for now I will go with the majority, 4wheels. I will wait to see more people come on, and see what they have to say. Vote may possibly change, depending on how the round turns to be.

That is sort of what I am thinking too. Though the drive to the border is only an hour - you can sometimes be tied up at customs for hours as well. No telling how long that trip would take. Can't see my parents telling the customs agent "yes we are taking 6-10 year old children across the border at midnight to get ice cream".

i guess the memo does narrow down the voting list neatly. i logged a safety on krugergirl for now. if you guys are close to a majority on 4w, i don't mind changing over even if i become a lemming. just get a voting list ready, and i'll see if 4w can get a clear or not. no point becoming a lemming unless we can confirm the clear.

I am going to join in on the vote for 4wheels.
The voting list seemed to have narrowed down to Americans, but I'm still keeping an eye out for others - For all we know, the Boss could have moved away from America. Keep in mind as well, that the Boss may have moved to a location no where near Big Boys anymore.

Well given that the boss is likely to be American, I will stay out of the majority this round as I'm sure only non-USA players will be fired from the Lemming list if 4Wheels isn't the Boss.

We do have a LOT of big boy restraunts around here. The food they serve is pretty nasty though....
I'm on Braingle far too long, I stay on the computer from dusk to dawn. Playing games and chatting with friends, the novelity of it never ends. |

Of the three who have not voted, only one has not expressed the idea of voting for someone other than 4wheels. As such, I will leave my vote where it is to get the clear. I am willing to risk it.

haha Bobbi, I posted a list just after you did, so I deleted mine, but . . .
We now have 8 out of 10 stated votes for 4wheels. Even if both of the non-voters come on and vote for someone other than 4wheels, that will still give us 8/12 which is enough for a clear (even accounting for the boss/rat), so we should be good this round.

There is only an hour and 45 minutes left in the round, and neither Fleetwood of Pottercrazy have stated a vote. Fleetwood has not been on in 2 days so will likely be a mandatory fire, Pottercrazy has been on this round, hopefully he voted when he posted at the beginning of the round and just didn't say who. We don't need two more mandies.
