I juat got home, so I'm sorry it's about 20 mintes after 7 EST.

Anyway, welcome to Round 1!

Alt Psych Question:
What is your favorite way to travel short distances?

Feel free to answer the alt question - or not! It is purely to add some discussion and has no effect on the outcome.

My favorite way to travel any distance (or at least those that are reasonably drivable) is private vehicle. My parents just bought a 40' motorhome and are going down home in the summer. I may join them as it would be a pretty comfortable way to go. The 8-10 hr ferry crossing may not be as much fun, but the ride would be nice. I won't take a highway coach anywhere but don't mind the train, but I usually spring for 1st class if I have to take it. The free food and drinks alone make it worth the extra $.

I'm glad we have started!
I hate driving long distances-anything trip over fours hours long (at @ 80 mph) should be flown in an airplane.
Update: Voted for 21k.

I like traveling short distances by songtaew. Which is like a $.50 taxi in Thailand.

EDIT: I voted for dcf525.

The boss is being really sporting with their memo

Doesn't really get us anywhere. But I guess that's the point. Try a one word memo next round boss!

Safety vote for Jayo.

For short distances, I don't think you can really beat trains. Especially in London, I think you can get a train pretty much everywhere and you never have to wait long. For even shorter distances, I always walk when I can.

My favourite way of travel in short distances would be good ol' feet.

Not much given by the Boss. Could either mean nothing, or could mean that the Boss' play-style is short and sweet.

For short distances, I will generally just walk it. For me it is generally the least amount of hassle and the cheapest. If the weather is bad enough, if I'm in a hurry, or if I am with people that don't want to walk, I will drive. I like public transportation, but the closest thing I have is the bus which stops about a mile from my house. Additionally, then I have to be on its schedule which can be painful.

Waking is good too. Didn't think of that as for some reason I was thinking traveling short distances out of town or whatever. I do tend to walk a lot as I don't have a license or vehicle anymore. The little girl I babysit loves to walk and will walk up to 3 or 4 km (that is 2- 2.5 miles for the Yanks) with me without complaint, pretty sad that at 4 she will happily walk further than most adults would ever consider. I will admit my perception of what is close enough to walk has changed greatly since I no longer have a car. I used to drive less than a KM (~1/2 mile), and will now walk over 10 KM(6 miles).

Voting for Lillypad, it is SO obviously with that detailed memo who the Boss is

If we are going to clear someone this round, we have 10 hours to get our act together, mandies may even cover us, any ideas who to clear?

Short distances, I like walking and if I get the DART to work in the mornings, my work is a 40 minute walk from there...which is great when the sun is shinning but not so much when it is lashing rain!

Long trips, such as they are in a country as small as Ireland, yeah the train is great

lol Jayo, I think you could be through your entire country in less time than it would take me to get out of my province.

I suppose I should find someone to vote for, guess I will go with Jayo since I haven't been able to vote for him in WWG in a while and I am responding to his post.

For short trips like into town I would have to be in a car. I live in city limits but every place I would need to go is 5 though 10 miles away so I couldn't walk it.

Hoverboards!!!! YES!!!!!

I think the boss' answer could be summed up by most people here. Who likes to take a bus?

I hated it when I lived in London and I would be out late, the subways would be closed and I had to take the night bus. Worst was if you had just missed it cause then you had to wait another 45 minutes or so for another one.
Safety for Jayo. Might as well try to get a clear this round, espically with only 10 players

You make a valid point Jayo, but there are still 6 hours left in the round. That is plenty of time for the "no shows" to put in an appearance.

Sorry I'm so late! It's been a hectic day.

I will gladly join the Jayo majority since I have no clue who else to vote for. LOL

I like to be self-sufficient, so walking is nice. Unfortunately, I can't walk anywhere where I live; it's either too far or too dangerous. I did like the bus system in Athens (GA) where I went to college (I wouldn't trust the one here in Atlanta though). I'd have to say for short trips, then, it's my car.

For long trips, I do prefer to fly. But then it has to be a VERY long trip. The 300 miles down to my parents' house is always driven as the cost of a plane ticket just isn't worth it. So, for those, too, it's likely my car. I've never taken a bus for a long trip, and I've only ridden a train once for a school trip. I'd try it again as I don't recall it being too bad.

Edit to add: Vote confirmed. Everyone please double-check that your votes saved. That was a huge problem in the last game I played!

Looks like a Rat proof majority, good stuff

By the way, I am NOT the Rat in this game, easy to say I know but we should have a genuine clear for next round
