Sure, no worries JQ. One thing I remember about WTB is we need to eliminate possible suspects to win the game. We need majority to vote for one person yes?
I've just voted for asteroid, but happy to change to another if the group decides on a different strategy.
PS Coolmaths is not the boss, been offline during the memo the whole time.

Jervis, there are two ways to clear people. One is with a majority (which is needed to actually fire the boss) and the other is a MoO vote and then looking at who gets fired. You can't be fired if you voted for the boss, so if person x states a vote for person y and person x gets fired, than we know person y is not the boss.

I was going to vote Jervis, but I'd like to stay clear of an early majority vote for now. I'm going to vote Limerick for now.

I am willing to enter a majority if people would like to go that rout, there is plenty of time to change my vote if that is what we decide we want.

All right, anybody who has played me knows that strategy for this game elusive for me, so the best I can do is just go with a popular vote to clear somebody and hope I don't get fired for being a lemming. It hasn't helped so far, but I got nothing else. so voting for Jarvis to clear.

Edit: I mean, Jervis.

Good to see coolmaths is back! I don't know if anyone else can confirm my statement. But coolmaths, you need to stay clear of voting in a majority, that way you won't get fired and it will be easier to figure out who the boss is later in the game.

@mocha - MoO? OMG LOL!

Posted: 01:11PM May 8, 2013

Jervis, that is absolutely correct that Coolmaths needs to stay out of majorities until we have someone we really think is the boss and need him to form a strong majority.

@Jervis: MoO stands for Majority of One, meaning, there is no double votes and the boss gets to choose whomever they would like to fire. No one person is in any more risk of being fired than anyone else, and sometimes the boss makes mistakes and clears more than one person.

However, now that I think of it, since we have a cleared player, we really want to protect them, so MoO votes are not such a good idea since it opens up them to being fired. As such, I'd be glad to enter a majority for Jervis as well, he is someone I wouldn't mind having cleared in this game. In order to guarentee we have a rat/boss proof majority, we need at least four people, which we are close to having. If we only have four people voting, those people are almost guarenteed to be on the firing list, thus protecting everyone else from being fired (with the exception of mandi's). The exception to this, of course, is that if jervis is the boss, none of the majority will be fired, instead the non majority people would be on the firing list. The other possibility is if someone lies about their vote and doesn't actually vote with the majority. I'd like to emphasize to those people who are less familiar with the rules: The only people who benifit from people lying about their votes are the Boss and Rat. If you want to protect yourself, vote outside the majority. But please don't lie about it!

If only three people vote in the majority, it is possible we can clear jervis if those people are fired. If they are not fired, we know that either jervis is the boss or the majority included both the rat and the boss (and one innocent). This would also give us good information as well.

So, again, I am changing my vote to Jervis to form a 3 person majority for him.

I took a look at the clearing clue, and this is the list of the actors that played in those roles. It is possible some are wrong because there have been several versions of the same movie, or several movies by the same name, but I think I got the most popular versions.

In order that were listed above:
Michael Biehn
Annabella Sciorra
Zachary Charles
Don Franklin
Carlos Gomez
Michael Weatherly
Jensen Daggett
Anne-Marie Johnson
Frank McRae
Denis Arndt
Gerry Becker
[missing: Jimmy from Beverly Hillbillies]
Anthony Zerbe
Christopher Murphy

If you take the first initial of each: MAZDCMJAFDG?AC
If you take the last initial of each: BSCFGWDJMAB?ZM

I don't see any ideas in either of these.

Coolmaths had been offline since the day he signed up through when jervis posted that this morning. That means there is no way he could be the boss since the boss had to come on and write the memo.

Yes and the memo was posted and the game started before cool maths came back online. Therefore cannot be boss.

MoO, mocha or anyone, will this work if we have everyone pair up for votes? But cool maths stays single vote. Then we should have 2+2+2+2+1+1 ( i don't mind who protects themself being the other single. This protects cool maths, and guarantees max of 4 fired. The rat and boss may pretend vote together, which leaves 3 pairs or if they separate, it still leaves 2 pairs. Any good?

If all vote majority for me, then the boss can fire the maximum without worry. Pairs should limit the ability of boss and rat sabotaging the vote, maybe?

That might work. As well as MoO votes work. But it is harder to convince that many people to join in doubles... I'm willing to change, especially since I don't remember, Jervis, if you have any siblings. (it wouldn't surprise me, but I can't recall). What do other people think about this route? I've never seen it done before, would be interesting.

Speaking of siblings, I do have a younger brother, and I also have a dog.

I noticed the boss specifically did not say if they had a pet.

I have two younger sisters and don't have any pets.

I think it will only work if we can get 3 pairs... Kaipper, I don't know how the double strategy will work with clearing people. I suppose whoever was fired and who they voted for is who gets cleared, so it will be completely random. Anyway, we have another 24hrs to decide. Asteroid, Limerick, JQ, jpost, Stewie, Longhorn, what do you all think?

Thinking out loud...
If we have anyone who doesn't vote, they get fired automatically.
If we do 3 pairs, then at least 1 pair is valid and they get fired. We've cleared one person maybe 2. (Just found a flaw. If the valid pair pick the boss, then we'll have a very complicated scenario...)
If we do 4 pairs, then at least 2 pairs are valid and any of the 4 will get fired, only 1 pair could pick the boss, so it will definitely clear one person, maybe 2.

@Thekid4 - Did you mean Jethro in Beverly Hillbillies instead of Jimmy? Or did you mean Jim Vader who played Jed in the movie?

Nice work, Jervis!

Two cleared in round 1, this is better than normal for a boss game!

Edit: Jervis, you might want to think twice about voting for someone voting for you. IF we get multiple pairs and the boss can fire from both, they can fire you and JQ and essentially take out two cleared players. Less likely with voting pairs, I would think, but just be careful.

Okay, let me see if I get the logic here. Two are cleared, leaving eight suspects for boss. With ten voters (including the fake votes of the boss and the rat), we can double up on five suspects, and then from the evidence of whoever gets fired, we will be able to at least clear some more and narrow down the boss. So, obviously I need to move my vote from jervis unless you want me to be one of the two voting for him. I am open for suggestions and we still have 18+ hours to go.

Since everybody is sharing their family dynamics to try to clear themselves, I will say that my only sibling is an older sister.

So, what Stewie is pointing to in his link is his interview where he says:
1) Yes, I have two older brothers and one older sister. Whom I never mentioned here till just now. Now you all know.

As a general habit, I don't trust people in their responses to the psych questions in game because in game they can lie (however in the psych answer they have to tell the truth) (unless, like Stewie, they answered the same question elsewhere on Braingle), or obfuscate their answer (Like, say "I have an older sister" and omit the fact that they also have a younger brother). But, I thought it would be interesting to see what people have said all in one place:

Has a younger brother:
mocha613
Limerick

Does not have a younger brother:
jervis
StewieGriffin
jpost
Kaipper

No response:
JQPublic
asteroidbelt
Longhorn_fan
coolmaths

Green means cleared
Well then, it looks like I'm the prime candidate so far.

So, to keep with the plan, Longhorn and Limerick should vote together for someone not already being voted for and NOT astroid or coolmaths. (Of course, in the end, it is completely up to you where you decide to go)

Astroid and Coolmaths, we really need you to log a vote so you are not fired. The worst thing is to lose a cleared player as a mandi! To protect yourself, you need to vote for someone that no one else has voted for, and preferably not each other. This would give us the best information.

Lol, yes mocha and I are terrible at maths!
I found your clue very difficult to be honest. I tried deciphering the letters as mocha showed without success. Then I decided to double check that mocha had not been sly and switched a few names;)
I went to imdb too and after checking most of the movies, I had a thought to scan a few of the actors pages to look for identical birthdays or hometowns or something. It took 3 actors to notice asteroid popped up more than once. Funny it didnt even twig that we had a player asteroidbelt at the time. I was still thinking of dates and places. I clicked the movie and voila!!

Stewie, thanks for the read. Quite interesting - in your sibling response you mention your older brothers and sister, but the next response about telling the whole truth, you answered no! Also, and I don't know if it still applies, but you said you live with your parents and brother. Sounds like a single brother. So I'm not 100% sure I can rule you out.

Hmm, as far as the game...

I feel content for the moment sitting immune, three small majorities to choose from, even if one is right, should give plenty of firing choice but also not too much as to reveal nothing. Mostly, I am still afraid we will get all mandies this round, possibly even Asteroid :/

@coolmaths - have you voted and locked it in?
It is totally up to you who to vote for, so if you want to vote for Limerick, go ahead. As long as you are not in a majority. (If you are in a majority and you didn't vote for the boss, the boss can and will fire you because we already know you aren't the boss.)
Also, I think I googles avatars to find mine. what do you really enjoy?
Round 0 was just us having fun. The only way to work out possible non-boss is whether anyone does'nt log on for a few days. Thankfully you logged back in after the start and we have an automatic cleared player!

It does look like we are going to lose asteroidbelt what a waste of a clearing clue!

We will soon know at least 1 of JQPublic, Kaipper or jervis is not the boss, depending on who gets fired. I can't remember if 2 or 3 can get fired in Round 1. If asteroid does not vote then they he will be mandatory fired. Which allows only 1 or 2 more...

Limerick, Longhorn_fan and coolmaths are safe as they haven't voted in a majority.
