Who's The Boss
Game #3004: Back to School
This private game is moderated by mocha613. Please read the rules and contact the moderator with any questions or concerns about this game.
This game finished in 3 rounds.
Several people submitted answers to the last homework assignment. All got the first two problems correct, but only 4demo and Giz got the bonus question correct. Congratulations to them! The answer to the bonus was that there would be infinitely many lines that a reflection would result in a distance of 4.
Now, can someone please call Randy in from recess so we can start our history lesson? Today we are talking about World War II. As you all know, Hitler rose to power as the Chancellor of Germany in 1933. Your homework today is to answer the following questions.

I found this article, which mentions a teacher named Beverly Turner who taught a foods class: http://www.journalreview.com/news/ It seems like the school she taught at is in Indiana.
Given that the Boss knew the teacher recently retired (she retired in May 2013, so end of the very last school year), I think the Boss is probably relatively young. It's possible that the Boss has a child, neighbor, etc. who attends the same school, but I also think that an older player would be less likely to give such specific details. Also, to the Boss, I would recommend being careful about giving away details like school names; this game aside, it's a good idea to be careful what information you share online about your school and location.
Edit: oops, forgot about the actual voting. The only player who I think could match this profile of the Boss (especially location) is Camilleee. Her profile doesn't say much about where she's from, but nobody else in this game appears to be from Indiana, so I'll vote for Camilleee for now.

Good hit 4demo... in the article, they also talk about Dollars for Scholars. Not quite ready to jump on a vote for someone, but it does seem to point to someone from a specific area.
And hey teach... I thought recess was for not thinking about class so we could be rested! Ok, maybe I was supposed to obey the bell and come back in, but I am now thnking about class again! Don't we go home in 2 1/2 hours?
Edit... (after 4demo's post below) just so I am not a mandi... I safety voted for Tan. I will look at this better in the morning and I could easily see myself changing the vote to someone who may fit this one single clue better.
BTW 4demo... you are right, too specific an answer. Either the boss did not realize the power of the internet; or there is another foods teacher who fits the bill and it was missed in the process. Turner is not an uncommon name... but I actually do think the boss did not realize that "their" Turner was already covered by a story.
And I already have turned in my homework assignment for this round. History is my second favorite subject... so there!

I tried to search Dollars for Scholars, but it seemed to be a nationwide program. It's very possible there's a specific, more local program that the Boss was referring to, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to be limited to one city or state.

I think the only thing we have to be careful about with the Mrs. Turner that seems to fit the bill... she was a teacher for a LONG time. She may have retired as a Food teacher... but it could be a play on words. The boss may have known her in an earlier time. The area she taught may be an very important point... maybe not just the year. Thinking out loud

Wow, that seems to help a lot... But she started teaching 54 years ago, which mean that the oldest bunch of people that she had taught might be around 60++ years old... Indiana seems to be our safest bet for now...
I just going to put in a safety vote for iamsam for now...
what is sense??and if i am not making sense, then why i say it?? I SAY IT COZ IT MAKE SENSE TO ME BUT WHY IT DON'T MAKE SENSE TO YOU????????? sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good morning!
Got called to work today, so I'll be back later.
Got called to work today, so I'll be back later.
I would just like to say that I never took a "Foods" class, we don't have that over here
I'm a bit confused about last round's results in that I thought someone else and I both voted for buu41 so surely he was the Candidate? Can anyone clear this up for me, I haven't played in an age.
I'll cast a safety vote for Stewie Griffin but I definitely think the Indiana connection is worth following up! Good research!

Good catch demo. I'm putting a vote for nicats. On her user page she lists she is from Indiana, so that's what I'm basing my vote on.
I also have to go to work soon, so I'll check back in later when I get home.
Edit: Vote confirmed for nicats

Also, I haven't had a class in ages...
I'm voting for Gizzer

I'm going to change my vote to nicats in order to try and start a small majority, if froggygg don't mind... However, I won't be able to come back and check my vote till after the round ends...

Even though it's really early in the game, I don't mind being in a majority since it will help everyone in the game if I'm right or if I'm wrong. Well, everyone but the Boss if I am right!

Good catch on noticing nicats having Indiana on her profile, froggy!
That said, I would be surprised if nicats was the Boss though. I feel like a more experienced player (and nicats has played over 60 WTB games) wouldn't be likely to divulge so many specific details. For example, if I were the Boss and answering the same question, I would have said something a little more vague like "My favorite teacher was my foods teacher, who was such a good teacher that she won a teaching award..." that doesn't give away names or anything. I don't want to make assumptions, but I think generally speaking, this would be generally true for most other players.

The Psych question read: Who was your favorite teacher and what quality did they have that made them your favorite?
The question seems to be quite specific, and the boss can't lie, so unless I'm reading it wrong, Mrs. Turner was the boss's favorite teacher. And from the final part of the answer I'd be more inclined to believe that the boss isn't one of our younger members, but not an old timer either (like me) Even if the teacher had been teaching for 50 years and didn't think kids should hold hands in school, I'd think she would have updated her reaction to such things. I'm pretty sure no one even looks at kids holding hands anymore.
Will join the nicats vote, since she is from Indiana.
Froggygg, you used to live in Ohio or was it Indiana?

I have read all the posts and I can't believe the Boss would lead us straight to them in Round 2.
Nicats seems a tad obvious so I'm not joining that majority.
Voting Bobbi.
Losing the Rat so early is a bit of a blow for the Boss.

I'm back after a long day - with another long day tomorrow.
I agree with testing whether or not nicats is the Boss, and I will join the vote for her.
I suppose it's possible that 4demo found the wrong "Mrs Turner", or that the Boss lived in Indiana during high school but has since relocated, or even that Mrs Turner started out somewhere else and then moved to Indiana.
I can't see the Boss deciding to frame nicats by picking a teacher from Indiana, especially since this round's answer matches last round's answer.
I can see (and sympathize with) someone working 12 hour shifts being too tired/busy to check whether the information provided in the answer would allow someone to find the name of a specific school.
So, I'm voting nicats.
Edit: vote confirmed

Dollars for Scholars appears to be an American thing which would eliminate the following for being the Boss
Gizzer - Canada
Hadleigh - Australia
nidhogg - UK
StewieGriffin - Ireland
TanCW - Singapore
I'm not too sure where 4demo is from.

I would be glad to be cleared, so feel free to vote for me.
I agree it may be a tad obvious, but I'm basing my vote on the Psych answer. It has to be truthful, so where is there any wiggle room for the boss to frame nicats? Unless Froggy was from Indiana originally, Also based on the truthfulness of the Boss, I think we can rule out those who aren't American, leaving 4demo, froggy, iamsam, nicats,RGW4 and me. I just think the boss never dreamed anyone would come up with a newspaper article about the very person who was her favorite teacher.
FYI, I was born in the town I live in, and have lived here my entire life, except for 3 years when I was first married when my husband was based in Ohio thanks to the US Air Force. My entire school career was in my hometown in New York State, so I never had Mrs. Turner as a Home Ec (or Foods as it is now called) teacher.

I don't like to reveal too much personal information, but I can honestly say that of the five states that I have lived and attended school in, Indiana is not one of them. I also have never taken a Foods class (nor can I cook anything that requires more than a microwave, sadly) or had a teacher named Mrs. Turner (and even if I had, I would not provide specific names). That said, I realize you could believe I'm an honest employee or a lying Boss.
Edit:
I loved all my Home Ec classes. Took 3 years of Foods in HS and 1 year in college.

Good find demo! As far as where I'm from originally, it is not Indiana and I know I've mentioned it on site in lots of places - I'm originally from the Buckeye State - Ohio!
It would sure be something if we managed to get the Boss this early in the game. I don't think I've ever played in a game where the Boss was caught in the second round.
SMILE and people will wonder what you are up to!

I drove through Indiana once... my only real claim to the US... I have been in every state at least once! I believe it was in West Virginia that on a family outing I had to stop by one of the state signs and have my picture taken. My kids... both in their teens asked me why we had to stop... and I told them quite frankly... to be able to say you visited every state in the union... it is sort of special.
However, I never lived in Indiana.
Nicats, we go back a long way... I have to join the vote on you. I have to agree with 4demo that you may have slipped up, or the boss has done a great job of disquising themself. My vote is for Nicats!
Edit... just to be sure... vote confirmed... Nicats
MOD EDIT: We appear to have broken the game. Which one of you hooligans was playing with the wires behind the teacher computer again?!?!
Congrats to the students on finding the hooligan. Nicats, poor luck with your teacher, who'd have known she was so famous?
I have made version two of this game. Feel free to stop by just to discuss the end of the game since we can't do it here, or stay and we can all play again.
