Yeah we started! Hmm. I have no idea who could be boss as of yet so I'll check back later to see what others think. I'll post a safety on froggygg for now.

I know I shouldn't be looking only at times, but, with Limerick not on in two days, that's a clear, isn't it? I have no idea about boss as of yet. I'll put in a safety vote for Shadows at the moment and add that (though clearly meaningless to everyone else) I've never been on a vacation in most of my life, let alone a summer vacation. So boss ain't me. [Well technically I have as a wee lad but I don't really remember so I guess that makes it invalid as it's not "memorable."]
Oh yeah, and forgot to say, glad it's up and it's been a while so yoroshiku onegaishimasu.

I have no idea but did see the question asked specifically about a "summer" vacation and the answer referenced a cold drizzle as well as visitation center and highway. I know we do not have any cold drizzles here in CA during the summer, so I'm not sure what areas do have such weather during the summer.
With that said, I'm tossing out a vote for HABS so as not to be a mandatory.
SMILE and people will wonder what you are up to!

Feel free to vote for me Froggy, but no one could call our summers 'cold' here. In the summer it reaches the mid 30s (celcius) BEFORE the humidty is factored in. With the humidity it often hits the high 30s and even as high as 40 (this translates as anyehre from 86 (30 C) to 104+ (40C) with the humidity). Even now, it is warm enough that most of my friends opened their pools this weekend.
As well, though I am the quiet one, and no one would notice me not talking, my siblings would have noticed a sudden increase in the amount of room in the back seat (I grew up in the 80s - 3 kids shoved into the back seat and the child in the middle seat fighting for somewhere to put their feet). Were this to actually happen to me, I would have likely just gone back inside and sat down with a drink to read until someone came back for me.
Also. given the fact we went on several vacations a year, none is any more memorable than the next. They all sort of blend into one another.
I voted for Stewie. I have not heard the term visitation center before. We have "Service Centres" in Ontario, and as they are right on a major highway (10+ lanes in some places) I don't see anyone running down the highway by one. and I believe most of the ones I have seen in the US were called "Rest Stops".
"Visitation Center" sounds British/European to me. The Americanised spelling could be intentional to throw us off.

Maybe the dog only brings the ball back because he thinks you like throwing it.

I am not sure of the term visitation centre,I thinks if I know I have never used it, I think vacation is more of an European term than anything else. That's just a guess. Oh and center is spelt centre in Europe.(though it could also be a typo or a deliberate ploy by the boss to through us off our game) It's something to think about.
As for the rest of the memo, it just kind or random and it could be anyone who wrote it. . Though living in Ireland my idea of a summer holiday is one where it's warmer and does not rain five days a week(well most of the time). .
I'm just gonna toss out a safety for scrubb for now, until we hear from others..

Stewie, vacation is absolutely a North American term. Most Europe#ns and Brits I know say holiday. We, inCanadaz, use British spellings: re vs er/ s vs z and out vs o.
I apologise, but I forget, are you in Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland?

I live on the Florida panhandle. In summer, a cold drizzle would be welcome. However, when we go on vacations, most here drift north toward the Smokies. There are certain places called visitation centers around the park itself. But if I was ever left behind, I was instructed to always stay put because it would be easiest to find me. While I am not the boss, you might try to find someone in a similar situation because of the visitation center idea. Safety vote for tala for now.

Though I enjoyed ur trips to Florid (and still do on occasion), I never liked driving through the Smokies. I'd get a nosebleed every time.

Can somebody remind me of what a safety vote is?
I read the message, and I can't believe what I am reading here. You can't all be the boss, but I feel like people are talking out of the sides of their mouths.
As a kid, summer vacation is when you were out of school. You did not have to go anywhere. Your family could have been on the highway for a drive to the relatives and not actually on a "vacation". Cold is relative - so when someone says that it was a cold shower - it could happen anywhere. It would just be colder than a normal rain for that time of year.
I grew up in Texas and when I moved to Colorado I learned a lot about what cold really was. I don't believe HABS when she says the rain is not cold in Canada in the summer. Just because there are warm days, it does not mean that there are not cold showers. To me all showers here in Colorado are cold.
I think we should focus on visitation centers? Are those visitor centers? Are they rest areas? We had a lot of rest areas and picnic areas on the sides of highways in Texas. Not many in Colorado. But they are mostly on the Interstates.

Just FYI scrubb, a safety vote is just a random vote in case someone cannot make it back on before the round ends or forgets to confirm their vote, because unlike WWG's if you do not confirm your vote and it does not count in WTB, you are automatically fired.
A safety vote prevents you from making that mistake.
I already touched on the possibility that the boss could be intentionally trying to throw us off. Still sounds American to me, visitation centres are not a term I am familiar with.
But I am tired and I am going to call it a night. I will check back in the morning to read more into it.

You cannot really generalize about Canada any more than you can about the US. Canada has a vast array of weather. For instance it "never" snows in Vancouver, BC but they get snowfalls of 3-4 feet on a regular basis in NFLD.
I live in SW Ontario, which is south of 14 states (including Colorado) and as I stated it gets sickeningly hot here in the summer.
We went away every summer (at leat once, and sometimes twice depending on my brother's baseball schedule). Getting left behind on the highway would not be on my list of memorable occurrences. Having my big toe chomped on by a chipmunk while walking around barefoot at a cabin wold make the list as would getting flipped out of a tube being dragged behind the boat and hitting the water so hard I couldn't breath properly for about 10 minutes.
Another memorable occurrence was when a few friends and I decided to ride our bikes the 85KM (52 miles) to hang out at a friend's cottage for the day and having no problem doing so. Then the sudden realization that after spending 7 hours playing and laying in the sun, we had to ride home. This prospect was even more painful to me, who, as a pasty red head, had a sunburn from Hell to contend with. There is no way to describe our relief when his older brother came in the door and said he was heading home and did we want to toss our bikes into the bed of his truck.
The best laid plans of teens .....
BTW Scrubb, EVERYONE I know who has a pool opened it this past weekend and was swimming. Camping season also opened this pat weekend (the 2-4 is the "unofficial" kick-off to the summer season here).
I am actually not looking forward to the warmer weather - I hate it. The heat and humidity make me sick to my stomach and as I said I'm a pasty red-head, the sun and I do NOT get along.

hi! im guessing ill go with HABS just a random vote :-)
I love playing with you HABS. I did not mean to say you were the boss. I was just saying that I imagine the rain is cold in Canada in the summer time, especially when you compare to rain in Texas or southern California or Florida. Or really anywhere in the southern US.
While I love the winter and ski season, winter lingers too long here in Denver. I can't wait for the summer warm weather. We have had maybe two days in the 80s all year. Pools may be open here, but only the indoor ones are warm enough for my liking. One time I was in NY city for a training in July. I hit the pool, and left just like a cat surprised it was water. In, then surprise, and I flew out the far side.
I should be on in the morning, but just in case I am not I will cast a safety vote for jpost.

As for the international incident, I agree that the term "visitation center" is an unfamiliar one, but it seems to be the case for many of us here. That could easily just be boss using unfamiliar wording in order to throw us off. Looking it up, the phrase is used for many different parts of the U.S. Though, even given the memo, I have no idea what the context is. It's a location where the family goes to and leaves. That doesn't seem very nation-specific to me, though, since I have almost no experience with travel perhaps it tells us more than I could see. Either way, I'll not assign a nationality yet.
Why didn't the Libertarian cross the road?

I'd consider just getting off more like a summer break than a vacation. But, true, the word applies for both and, had I been boss, that little work-around would be more than useful in answering. Still, even going on the freeway to visit relatives was a rare event. It would be nice to hear from shadows.
I tried doing research on the memo but came up with noting of any significance though the term highway is a term for American, A term used in America(Mostly) England, Scotland and Wales.
Again, I'm sure we are all experienced enough to know that if any of us were the boss we would be extra careful with what we say in the memo, that being said, I am leaning more towards the boss being American. Though that does not really narrow it down much witj eight out of the ten of us playing are American.
It's the first round so it mostly just speculation for now, I'm leaving my vote as is, unless something drastic happens within the next seven hours. Hopefully the next round will reveal more.

7 Americans actually. Shadows is Canadian.

With being off for three days, it's likely Limerick will be fired for inactivity, possibly as well as Shadows. Hopefully we'll get more clues next round as to our boss as I feel like the nationality doesn't really give us much.
