The Unknown Message

The Seekers of Knowledge found themselves on another quest. This time they had to enter the great wizard tower of Vanya. She was to be caught and brought back to the city of Raptin for justice to be served.

Within the tower, the group had encountered many deadly traps and a few roaming monsters. These monsters had been altered using alchemy and were no longer natural. The group had taken many injuries and was having a hard time reaching Vanya.

They had entered a room that had a wooden chest in the right corner. It was a fancy chest with engravings and pictures on it. On the top of the wooden chest was some writing. Unfortunately, some of the letters were worn smooth and the message was unreadable.

Sid, being one of the smartest, realized it was a clue as to where they might find Vanya. The group secured the room and began to work on the clue message.

Can you help find the missing letters indicated by the *'s to complete the message and help the group find Vanya?

The wooden chest had the following written on the lid:

*h**e *o*r *e*r* i*, t***e i* yo** tr*a*u*e, w**re **ur *re*s*r* *s, t*e*e *s *o*r **ar*.

Missing Letters:

A lot of fun, but why "mystery" and not "language"?

Posted by Sunrose12/31/05
It was recommended mystery by the editors. :D

Great teaser, sunrose!! Once I had figured out the spacing between words.... I worked it out without using the letters given. Fun!! :D :D

If the letters were missing because they were worn smooth, where did they come up with the letters to replace the missing ones? I'm confused. . .

I liked this riddle a lot. Not too hard, not too easy. Took me a while to figure out, but I got it right. Once I realised the first word isn't there and was where, I got it.

I found this very easy to solve, partly because of all the repetition. I didn't find it necessary to refer to the list of missing letters. What I found unsatisfying here was that -- after all this atmosphere of mystery and fantasy had been created -- the resolution of the quest is wrapped up in the briefest, most perfunctory way.

nice one, easy too! 8)

easy one, quite fun though :)

very clever, a bit easy

i can never figure out hardly any of these, but i got a pen and paper out and actually tried and worked ten minutes into it, had half of it done, and got aggrivated and looked at the answer...lol

SaturnCat08 Jan 01, 2006 Wow, I got it correct. Very fun, true, and very creative.I really loved it. Great Job Sunrose! A+ I Agree with Saturn...I also thought I t was very creative and fun. :D

Rather than try to "solve" the message, if you just look at it for a bit, you can pick up most of it. I had to work on the last word, heart, but the rest just sort of came to me. I guess it's like when you stare at optical illusions with your eyes out of focus. Anyway, off track here... I enjoyed your teaser! :)

Good One. Still, as with other teasers, this doesn't sound like a mystery teaser :P But, for the actual atmosphere and storytelling, it has a mystery air... 8) Will

Posted by sharmainsan11/25/06
very nice......only that i misunderstood the message.i thought you meant that the heart is in the CHEST(part of the body), and the treasure is nin the CHEST(the one they found)......doesnt it make sense?.....

Posted by McBobby121203/02/07
the teser only gives us 1 "o" to work with and there are like 4 or 5 "o"s. it also would have helped if there were spaces.

mystery teaser?

Posted by Hummingbird105/25/07
I liked it and didn't find it too difficult or too easy. Just right. Good job! :)

Posted by kmaarshh109/20/07
Haa, this was verrrry trickky. But, someehow i figuredd it out.

Posted by Viper04/27/09
I found it impossible, cause the answer has 2 W's, While the letter selection only has 1.

Great teaser, Sunrose! :)
