The series is the number 10 written first in Base 2 (binary), then in Base 3, then in Base 4, and so on. 10 in Base 7 is 13, and 10 in Base 8 is 12.

Fun! Thanks. :D Actually, your Hint put me off - I had 1010 as 10 in Base 2, but then thinking about the title and clue my mind got locked into Base 3 ... and stuck! A clever idea.
