So on what day do you think Jesus was crucified and on what day did He rise? In Mark 15:42 it states that it was the Preparation Day as evening approached that Joseph of Arimathea went to PIlate to ask for Jesus' boday. Verser 44 says that Pilate was surprised that Jesus was already dead, which to me implies that He had been hung on the cross that day. And Chapter 16:9 says Jesus rose early on the first day of the week. Wasn't that Sunday? Also be sure to check out Luke 23: vs. 14-24:8. John 19:31-36 maked it even more clear. Also, check out Matthew 27:57-28:15. Where is the misconception that has been taught? What is the source of your information? And do you understand how the Jews counted the days ? Of course, the main thing is that Jesus died and rose again for the sins of the world and that whomever believes in HIm will have eternal life (John 3:16).

zeagle, you did a great job on this quiz! And what a wonderful opportunity to testify the love of God through Jesus Christ!

Good logic, Elzabad. Assuming He rose on Sunday morning, for Jesus to have been in the tomb for three days, He would have to have been buried on Thursday. Then He would have been there Thursday, Friday and Saturday. His body was not there early Sunday morning when Mary Magdalene arrived at the tomb and was greeted by the angel.

I think Zeagle was taking only the usual sabbath into account. Most forget about the Passover sabbath.

I can see where there is misconception as to how long Jesus was in the tomb. It says that he Arose on the third day, which means he didn't spend three days in the tomb. BTW, I only missed one, and shouldn't have. I'll settle for that though

I have to disagree with # 10. Numerous doesn't necessarily mean hundreds of people saw him. It could have been 50 or 100 0r 1000. Other than that great quiz!!

Jesus really loved/loves even his enemies. Those who tortured, torment, crucified him. Unbelievable, as he suffered unimaginable pain.

I will agre that numerous doesn't necessarily mean hundreds, but 1Cr 15:6 ( which is referenced in the answer) says, "After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep." So the answer "hundreds" is correct.

Technically on #9, Christ was in the tomb on 4 different days (but the answer should be three), the day he was crucified before sundown was the first (even though it was only a partial day), since days went from sundown to sundown for the 12 tribes, sundown that night was the begining of our Thursday (first full 24 hour period), sundown the next day began Friday which was the second 24 hr period, sundown the next day began our Saturday or the third 24 hour period, and sometime that night, before dawn, He resurected. There were two Shavuot's (Sabbath's) that week. Christ had to come off the cross before sundown on Wednesday because it was Passover, a high Shavout, then the regular Saturday observance followed.

Matthew. 26:17-21 Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread (14 Nisan); from sundown Tuesday evening to sundown next day (the day of preparation) the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto Him, "Where wilt Thou that we prepare for thee to eat the Passover?" And He said, "Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the Passover at thy house with My disciples." And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the Passover. Now when the even was come He sat down with the twelve (late in the evening of 14 Nisan; just before Wednesday began), And as they did eat (regular meal before sundown), He said, "Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray Me."

Judas indeed betrayed Him that night (15 Nisan; the first part of Wednesday). On that same night also, He had instituted the New
Covenant of the wine and bread (at sundown, a regular meal); was betrayed, tried and convicted by an illegal court during the night;
and before sundown next day (still Wednesday, 15 Nisan), He was crucified (Sacrificed) and taken down from the cross. He was in the tomb three days (Thursday, Friday and Saturday); and three nights (Wednesday night, Thursday night and Friday night). Therefore, when the sun came up on Sunday, Jesus had already risen on Saturday night. A time of three days and three nights was predicted; not from Friday to sometime Saturday night!

#9 Matthew 27:63 Saying Sir, we remember that that deceiver said while he was yet alive After three days I will rise again. 64 Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first.
Yet the fact is that becauseHe did rise so will we who have ask Jesus Christ to be our Saviour.
1 Corinthians 15:20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept 21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die even so in Christ shall all be made alive
