Sound of Honour
Riddles are little poems or phrases that pose a question that needs answering. Riddles frequently rhyme, but this is not a requirement.I'm a ten-letter word, but when I am heard,
I have only four, not one letter more.
My first two sounds are neat; a kind of sheet,
That starts with spread, not the kind on a bed.
Of my sounds, the third is what will be heard,
alphabetically, in the middle of modus operandi.
If you want to hear more, then like the shore,
I end at the sea, that's a hint, you see.
What word am I?

Posted by crazy10man on Feb 06, 2012 Well written and clever; however, I don't understand how "If you want to hear more, then like the shore, I end at the sea," equates to C. Wouldn't that be the letter A? |
|
Posted by xxsoftballxx13x on Feb 06, 2012 That was quite fun to attempt to figure out. However, I did not arrive at the answer. I could not figure it out, therefore it was a successful teaser. |
|
Posted by JQPublic on Feb 06, 2012 Really clever! One of the best I've seen on Braingle. |
|
Posted by MarcM1098 on Feb 06, 2012 crazy10man, the key words are HEAR and SEA that can lead you to the letter C. This riddle is all about sounds. |
