Word Grid 5
Arrange 25 five-letter words in a 5-by-5 grid. The five words in each row share a common letter. The five words in each column share a common letter. The five words in each diagonal share a common letter. There are 12 different common letters.
The grid cells are identified by row (1 to 5, top to bottom) and column (1 to 5, left to right). Example: Cell 3.2 identifies Row 3 Column 2.
The words are: after, amble, beard, broth, build, daisy, gleam, graph, humor, imbue, marsh, peony, prism, prude, rebut, rouge, shard, slave, slept, study, surge, truck, wench, xylem, young.
One letter of each word is provided in the grid.
Row 1: r t m i u
Row 2: d e b l m
Row 3: a c s a r
Row 4: i y l n g
Row 5: h o a c p

Common Letters
Rows 1 to 5: u, l, r, y, h
Columns 1 to 5: d, t, m, e, g
Diagonals 1 and 2: p, s
1) For Cell 5.4, there are only two words with "c": "truck" and "wench". If it were "truck", then Cell 4.4 would have to be "young", as that is the only word that contains "n" and shares a common letter with "truck" ("u"; "wench", with "c", would fit, but there are no other words that could share the common "c" in Column 4). However, there are no words that contain "a" and the common "u" for Cell 3.4. Cell 5.4 is "wench". Cell 4.4 is "peony" ("young" would fit, but there are not enough words to share a common "n" in Column 4). The words in Column 4 must share "e". Cell 1.4 is "imbue", as it is the only word that contains "i" and shares the common "e". Cell 3.2 is "truck" (the only remaining "c" word).
2) The words in Row 5 must share "h", as "wench" has only two letters that it could share ("e" and "h"), and "e" has already been assigned to Column 4. Cell 5.5 is "graph", as it is the only word that contains "p" and the common "h". The words in Diagonal 1 must share "p".
3) Cell 4.1 contains "i", so it is "daisy" ("build" shares no letter with "peony", and "prism" must be somewhere in Diagonal 1). The words in Row 4 must share "y". Cell 4.5 contains "g", so it is "young". Cell 4.3 contains "l", so it is "xylem". That leaves Cell 4.2 being "study".
4) The words in Column 5 must share "g". Cell 2.5 contains "m", so it is "gleam".
5) The word in Cell 2.2 contains "e" and a shared "p". It can not be "prude", as "e" (the only letter that it shares with "gleam") has been assigned to Column 4. Cell 2.2 is "slept". Cell 3.3 contains "s" and "p", so it is "prism". That leaves Cell 1.1 being "prude".
6) The words in Row 2 must share "l". Cell 2.1 contains "d" and "l", so it is "build". Cell 2.3 contains "b" and "l", so it is "amble". That leaves Cell 2.4 being "slave".
7) The words in Column 1 must share "d", as the words already assigned to Column 1 share only that letter. Using the same reasoning: Column 2 shares "t", Column 3 shares "m", Diagonal 2 shares "s", Row 3 shares "r", and Row 1 shares "u" ("e" has already been assigned).
8) Cell 5.1 is "shard". Cell 5.2 is "broth". Cell 5.3 is "marsh".
9) Cell 1.2 is "rebut". Cell 1.3 is "humor". Cell 1.5 is "surge".
10) Cell 3.1 is "beard". Cell 3.4 is "after". Cell 3.5 is "rouge".
