Innovative!
That is cute!(even though salt is a mineral)I really like it! my mom couldnt even figure it out!
nice 1. can't believe i didn't get it!!
where do you get the "seasons" part from? salt and pepper are "seasonings" not "seasons"! So really the correct answer would be "seasonings Greetings" which is a bit naff. Perhaps you should have used "Summer" and Winter" they are seasons!
OH MAD ADE! Could you hust say something pleasant for once? I thought it was a great teaser! good job kiwi!!
Mad-Ade, you really need to cool down. It's a simple brain teaser, not calculus - little things can slide a bit. Great teaser though, it makes PERFECT SENSE TO ME.
At first i didnt get it but yea, mad ade calm down! If you dont have anything nice to say dont say anything at all.
I never said anything nasty, I simply asked a question, I couldn't work out how the submitter got "seasons" and "seasonings" mixed up. Is it a crime to ask for something to be clarified? As yet no one has offered an expaination, but instead have choosen to turn on me for asking a question? Now who really is being negative, I simply asked a question, your imaginations made into something it wasn't!
madade I did actually think of that after I had submitted the teaser, but it seemed to go down alright anyway so I didn't worry much about it.

For once i agree with the overly opinionated Mad Ade...no offence dude, you rock.
mad ade is right. It didn't make sense to me either.

A rebus is supposed to be "representational", can we say dictionary??
I can:

pretty cool
that's cute
cute!
I got it the minute I saw it. I wish I was the one clever enough to have thought of it. Kudos, well done.
Spicey Conversation came to my mind .. I know salt is not a spice but oh well .. guess I was on the wrong path p.s. dictionary does give a definition for season as something that seasons so salt and pepper could correctly be called seasons as well as seasonings .. Isn't the English language wonderful! cute little teaser (but not a teasering)
i really liked it even though i had no clue what the answer was
After reading the comments and inspecting semantics Winter and Summer would have been better providers of the dialogue. But I still think it cute to think of salt and pepper shakers saying howdy.
Could someone explain it to me 'cause I don't get it!
Sep 04, 2005
I would have got it if I knew what decipher meant!,Good one though!!!!!!!!!!
semantics people
they make the world go 'round
they make the world go 'round
You couldn't have used Winter and Summer cos Winter and Summer can't talk, whereas yur salt and pepper pots never shut up........... Condiments of the season. It tickled me.
Shouldn't that be Seasonings Greetings?
I got it immediately Very clever!!
verry good, but easy!
i didnt understand the salt/pepper thing at first, but when i thought about it , i understood it
good teaser
good teaser
Great one to share with the kids at school. I think it'd make a great card too!

Good 'un! I even got it Nice way to start a Sunday Thanks
Ya ya! THat was fun!
This teaser was pretty lame! IT didn;t make sense, and I agree with many others how did you get seasons out of seasonings?
wow i would've never guessed
that was really good
that was really good
I saw it immediately. Then again, I'm eating scrambled eggs for breakfast!
For all you who can't figure it out:
You use salt and pepper to "season" your food.

Good teaser! Very fun!

Good One! You get a thumbs up!
Liked it!!! It was cool!
I love this!! Don't we all have 'Poetic Licenses'?
Very nice...Bravo!
Very nice...Bravo!
i didnt get it at first then i looked at the answer and go it cool! who cares if pepper isnt a season and its a seasoning it made since!!!!!!
I got here late today ... what a discussion!!! Take it easy on Mad-Ade, everyone, and don't discourage questions. Just think how our brain cells have been stimulated. It's a GOOD thing!
p.s. Though the answer to this one came right to me, like emmh, the idea of talking salt & pepper shakers tickled me!
that was a great one i love ur name too
I didn't get it at first but it was still a really fun teaser....keep them coming!!!
well i am horrible at these so i didn't get it but it was cute
I liked it alot very cute
OK I GUESS!!!!!!!!!!?????
Clever, cute and fun...what more can you ask for...loved it!
Rather clever.
liked it, fun and easy
I thought it was clever, it's nice to lighten up.
nice!!!
WOW that was good! Mad-Ade is correct, but still, seasonings is close enough to seasons, I think.
that was SO funny.
Got it right away, but still think it was a good teaser. I agree with someone who commented about the "Mad' person...you can't take this so literally, but again, he is right, he only asked a question, let by gone be by gones.
I would go along with 'seasoning greetings'; a bit better play on words. But it was a well-done thinker.
i tought it was great.
I wouldn't be too worried about Mad Ade's comment, he did make them over 3 years ago Good Teaser
Very good
Sorry for the late response. Solved it off line and forgot to comment. Why? Saw the obvious "greetings" immediately. If I told you how long it took me to come up with "Seasons," I'd be laughed off the board. Very nice.
Yay!!! I got it!!!
someone must be truly mad if he thinks that seasons and seasonings are not related. It's not uncommon in this lengua to describe two or more things with one word or root word
I liked the teaser myself. I love pepper!!

so cute and creative
i love it

Congrats for having the cutest teaser on Braingle! (IMHO)
KIND OF WEAK FOR A TEASER, BUT THE ANSWER IS FINE.
WHY ARE THE DATES ON THE RESONCES SO OLD?
This was cute It made me smile thx
i got it just because the brain works that way, but here's a possible explanation:
salt seasons food...and pepper seasons food and their respective greetings yield seasons greetings.
[btw, yes salt is a seasoning. if you wanna be technical it's sodium chloride, an inorganic diatomic molecule. one atom Na (sodium) one atom Cl (chlorine).]

How appropriate that it's only a few days before Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year. Season's Greetings to y'all!
Really cute! My mind was thinking something to do with "opposites." Oh, well!!
I drew a total blank. Once I saw the answer, the light bulb went on and I got it. When Iwent back and read all the old comments I couldn't believe the uproar over seasons and seasonings. It's a cute rebus and the submitter has a right to be proud. Good job.
Didn't get it, and thought it was my own fault ... unless maybe it's because of the whole seasons/seasonings fiasco! yeah!
Okay maybe not. I'm fine with admitting that I was had. Grudglingly! (Haha, what a fun sounding typo for grudgingly! I'm gonna leave it there!)

WHY ARE THE DATES ON THE RESONCES SO OLD?
Maybe RESONCES are best when they are served old, what ever RESONCES are. Good teaser, iMur.
As for 'seasoning greetings', it would be different, but still it would get the point across, unlike many of the above responders. This teaser was fine and a good thought as well. Thanks.

A very tricky, yet sophisticated teaser. I commend you! Keep up the extraordinary work.
Good one.. Abit of a stretch with the seasons, seasonings, etc But still neat!
i guess oldchina hand has never made a typo.
the teasers are picked for the daily from all the teasers on the site not just new ones

Brain freeze - couldn't believe I didn't get it! Great one!
WOW!!! You got quite a response from your teaser. I personally thought it was wonderful. I got it right away. Any teaser I solve is a friend of mine.
BTW, I agree with the people who have stated that salt and pepper do season food; therefore, when they say "good morning" and "hello" they are emitting season greetings. That is just so cute!!!

nice one....i should have read this one around xmas!!!!!!! lol....jp
It was quite cute and one that needed a bit of thinking on, but too many folks just have a need to pick at others' attempts at creativity. Let it roll off your back ad keep up the good work at trying to give everyone something to smile about. It helps!
GREAT!
Thanks for all the responses peoples, especially those who stood up for me! glad you liked.
100th comment!!!
I enjoyed it.
I enjoyed it.
Very nice!
*rimshot*
cute... this was a stretch for me, but it made me smile
I really enjoyed this teaser. I got the answer right away--but that's the kind I like. I didn't even think about season or seasonings or whether or not salt is a seasoning.
But I looked up the word "season" in the children's dictionary in our school's second grade room. One of the 4 definitions was "to add flavor to food with herbs, salt, or spices."

I thought it waqs cute. Keep 'em comin'
cute, but a groaner
i didnt get it.....but then im not good at teasers....(just joined) i agree with mad ade though......its seasonings not seasons.
I am not good at rebus teasers. This one was too hard for a slow coach like me. After looking at the answer, I am positive this is a great one, though difficult for me. Anyhow, do keep these coming.
I love it! It's so cute!
this is a great rebus. but went way over me head. keep up the go work and i'll keep pluging along.
a lot o fun to try and do.
Cute. I enjoyed this one. More please.
Aww. I
Awesome.
Cool riddle! Keep them coming
hahah one of my favorites! ^_^
The resurrection of a venerable and very popular rebus. I truly think Mad Ade was right, strictly speaking -- salt and pepper are seasonings, not seasons -- but you use them to season with, which seems to me close enough. If you come up with seasoning on your first try, it's clear all you need to do is lop off those -ings to get the correct answer. At least, this is the loose, permissive approach. Others will almost certainly disagree, which explains why this rebus has so many comments.

Oh I forgot the teaser. SEASONINGS GREETINGS ?????
A bit questonable.
A bit questonable.
Very fun. Didn't figure it out, but a great puzzle. I stink at these teasers.
I was so sure it had something to do with spices, spicy dialogue is all I could think of, but I knew it was wrong. Very clever, even though not everyone agrees with me. Good job.
I like it...good one.
Great teaser , I've seen it way before the TOTD. Still good one.
NICE1, HUH!!!
I REALLY LIKE THIS ONE!!!!
I thought this was a good teaser. I thought a teaser was supposed to get you thinking. I don't think the words have to be exact. I think when you say the whole thing, your brain starts to pick out sounds until you get something that you can match to a phrase. I seem to remember rebuses (?) that didn't have words that sounded exactly like what the answer was.
And, I think the public in general thinks of mustard, mayo, spices, and salt and pepper as condiments. Admittedly, a loose interpretation, but it is ok.
But, that is just me...

Cute one! It made me smile! I did not solve it, but still liked it and think it was good.
I enjoyed this teaser, got it pretty easily; as with others, I dd not really think too much about the seasons/seasonings issue. Sure salt and pepper are seasonings but obviously that didn't make a whole lot of sense. We are all entitled to our own opinions on things, but for those who criticize all the time and think it is easy to come up with an interesting and original quiz or teaser - try it it isn't. I used to think so myself, until I started to write them). It isn't.
^ What HABS said.
A LITTLE FAR-FETCHED FOR ME,BUT TO EACH HIS OWN.
I thought it EASY, tho clever...and, concerning the season/seasoning "bit' I would submit (may have already been pointed out ) that to salt OR you pepper you SEASON
Sure was fun, got it!
excellent
The terms "Salt" and "Pepper" are not only nouns, but they are also verbs, meaning to season with salt, or season with pepper. In that respect, the answer makes perfect sense. Good teaser Kiwi. I liked it.
I spotted it...but should it really have been chosen for the daily puzzle in September?
Lovely way to begin Tuesday morning- with a giggle after getting the TOTD.
Fun, easy and entertaining teaser; I got it very quickly.
Cute and fun. I like it.
