And the bit remaining is E which stands for Easy!

Posted by Codammanus on May 21, 2003

Cut em some slack Jimbo. This was a first. Congratulations! And it was math related (your specialty)..Well...sort of math related. Kudos to you kid. (You better be a kid).

Posted by on May 22, 2003

if its 3 then its kinda wrong... if u look at it, its only missing the other middle...if it was suppose to be what u say, then it would look like a backwards E kinda

Posted by CocoaPuff on May 30, 2003

Cute.

Posted by cat_madukuk on May 30, 2003

i hate to be all logic and stuff but tecnically its not 3 cos da no 3 is about 2/3's of 8 soz to b all goody goody pizz don't hate me

Posted by cat_madukuk on May 30, 2003

soz to keep goin on but i agree with moosdfsd

Posted by Zazzar on Jun 15, 2003

I kind of felt that, without a question mark, it became more of a "statement". ...and it stated that "What" is half of 8.

Posted by Piffle on Jun 15, 2003

clever!

Posted by Piffle on Jun 15, 2003

(meaning the teaser)

Posted by Funkeman on Jun 15, 2003

you people are way to picky it was a good riddle just leave it at that. Dont get all technical with it.

Posted by sftbll4l on Jun 15, 2003

You all are just being too picky because you are mad that you didn't guess it right ....just trying to make yourselves look good and smart

Posted by LilyBell on Jun 15, 2003

I like it! Although, I thought it was 1x4. I didn't give it much thought.

Posted by dsquared on Jun 15, 2003

I thought it was great. Well done. You picky ones... sheesh! ... and some people reckon us editors are picky. ;P

Posted by egghead on Jun 16, 2003

that was really cool.i thought it must be g since half of eight is g!!
really superb

Posted by jacintan on Jun 16, 2003

I didn't think of that one!

Posted by on Jun 23, 2003

how is halph oph eight a g?

Posted by on Jun 15, 2004

some of you are way to picky. if the editors didn't think that the answer fit and that 3 was 2/3 of 8, the why did the accept this one? you need to lighten up. i actually thought that the answer was clever. i was thinking four. i wouldn't have thought to litterally divide 8 in half.

Posted by ajoauk on Jun 15, 2004

I thought it was 4 cos techinically 2x2 is 2x2 not 4. but thats just me

Posted by Shirl on Jun 15, 2004

You all are getting to technical. It was a good brain teaser if you just didn't think to deep.

Posted by lucylizzy on Jun 16, 2004

WOW I actually got it!

Posted by ThisIsLynne on Jun 16, 2004

Good one! The riddle said it wasn't 0, so I knew it wasn't cut in half horizontally. Pretty clever that it was cut in half vertically!

Posted by vbfreak55 on Jun 22, 2004

I thought it was 16 because on a calculator, if you punch in 8 divided by .5, then you get 16. oh well, everybody looks at it differently. i think there could be many answers to this one.

Posted by iconofsin on Mar 16, 2005

I get it.

Posted by facr_1 on Dec 17, 2005

The teaser is wrong! The answer is 4. 4 is not a zero or 2x2. And if the answer was 3 couldn't it also be an E. Besides, 3 looks like a little bit more than half an 8

Posted by Winner4600 on Feb 25, 2006

MULTIPLICATION TABLES!!! 2 times 2 equals 4!

Posted by ArgenRaquet on May 24, 2007

Very tricky....fooled me. By the way, if you put this problem on the calculator you would put 8 TIMES .5 because "of" always stands for multiplication...

Posted by Jessrox97 on Oct 02, 2007

Could've been 6 if u cut it diagonally... sorta.

Posted by pating on Oct 23, 2007

Could have been a 5 if you remove the upper right part and the lower left part! (Or is it an S?)

Posted by drwdrw on Aug 13, 2008

GOTCHA!
But how about "x"
n
8= X
U

Posted by zxyggrhyn on Aug 23, 2008

If it's n, x and u, the question would have been: '8 was divided into three, but it gave not 8/3 to thee. What will the result be?' or something. But never mind.
Anyways, this is a very familiar teaser and I'm proud my brain still works here.

Posted by bradon182001 on Aug 23, 2008

I liked it. I was tricked. Thanks for posting.

Posted by doehead on Aug 23, 2008

No matter how you comment, the whole thing was pretty stupid!!!

Posted by bestgirl on Aug 23, 2008

It doesn't say it has to be a number. I cut it horizonally and got an o.

Posted by phyllisa on Aug 23, 2008

I was thinking of words, like FOUR but no "0" so I though FOR, oh well, it got me thinking!!!!

Posted by phyllisa on Aug 23, 2008

I was thinking of words, like FOUR but no "O" so I thought FOR - anyway, it got me thinking.

Posted by icestar12 on Aug 23, 2008

haha... that was... SOOOO EASY! I GOT THAT AFTER LIKE 5 SECONDS (literally... FIVE seconds)

Posted by jcann on Aug 23, 2008

I got it right away (well, I had to think it through a little) and I thought it was fun! It says that it's a trick question--not a math teaser. Also, I was impressed with the way the riddle was written.
Good job!

Posted by avonma on Aug 23, 2008

I agree with icann - it IS a good teaser and fun, too!

Posted by Jazzy_Sammy_13 on Aug 23, 2008

Cute! I liked it!

Posted by KarateGirl098 on Aug 23, 2008

Heh- I thought it was eig or ei. xD you know- eight?

Posted by NDYApeacock on Aug 23, 2008

Easy, but good! I got it on my 2nd or 3rd guess.

Posted by UptheHill on Aug 23, 2008

Posted by carolyns on Aug 24, 2008

Good clues! I got it right away. Thank You!!!

Posted by gaylewolf on Aug 23, 2011

This one didn't appeal to me - maybe it's too early! Have a wonderful day, friends!

Posted by rockstar1009 on Aug 23, 2011

I got it rather quickly (the 0 clue gave it away - it just indicated I should divide the 8 the otherway). Fun but easy.

However, are people really this picky? 3 is the correct answer. Yes, there's a remainder, so you could also claim Epsilon (in lowercase form) as an answer. Either are correct, but the implication is that the teaser is looking for a number. 2x2 is indeed meant to express 4, used as a synonym for rhyming purposes. The category is TRICK, afterall, and the solution is simple. I still don't get why people get so upset over getting stumped and need to attack the puzzle or creator rather than accept defeat and learn to grow from it.

Posted by crazy10man on Aug 23, 2011

There is no one, single obvious answer to this teaser, that's why folks are getting "picky".

Technically, if you cut 8 in half, you get E3, so you can chose either side, or both, as your answer. Or the letter O, since that's not the number 0.

Too many answers, but a clever idea.

Posted by here2 on Aug 23, 2011

I liked it. I thought I was really smart and then I read no zero. A moment later and I caught back up.

Thanks,

= p

Posted by Sneakattack on Aug 23, 2011

Good teaser. I got it in an instant.

Posted by auntiesis on Aug 23, 2011

Not fun, not cute, and didn't get it or like it. Sorry, that doesn't happen too often.

Posted by snowmonster on Aug 23, 2011

Very cute!

Posted by Mandy7 on Aug 23, 2011

got that on first try, kinda easy

Posted by MagicPurple on Aug 28, 2011

I looked on the E side instead of 3. Oh well.
