### Brain Teasers

# Dominoes

Two diagonally opposite corner squares are removed from a chess board (in other words, the upper left-most square and the lower right-most square are cut out).

Can the board still be completely covered by dominoes that measure 2 squares by 1 square (each domino covers two adjacent squares on the board)?

No domino is allowed to hang over the edge of the board, and dominoes aren't allowed to cover each other.

### Hint

Colors give it away!### Answer

No it can't. Each domino covers a black square in the board and a white one (colors vary), if you take the corners you'll eliminate either 2 whites or 2 blacks so there will be 32 of one color and 30 of the other, hence you'll have 2 squares of the same color left.
