Answer
Self esteem: the holding an opinion of ones self; self complacency.Pride in oneself; self-respect: A sense of one's own dignity or worth.
"Personal Regard" is a synonym for "self esteem".
Self esteem is the feeling we have about our worth and value as a person. Self confidence is the feeling we have about our ability to do things.
In other words esteem is about your "being" and confidence is about what you "do."
Self esteem is the greatest gift we can develop in our children because with high self esteem anything is and will be possible. We are what we think we can be.
Self esteem is an opinion not a fact. The way we view and feel about ourselves has a profound effect on how we live our lives. These opinions are shaped by experiences in the family, at school, from friendships and in wider society. Self esteem involves our ability to think, to deal with life and to be happy.
As the earth spins on its axis, so do we, as individuals, spin on our own. Our own self esteem is the core of who we are. It affects every aspect of our personalities. Our attitudes, fears, worries, moods, and motivation. It affects our life choices, our ability to communicate, even our parenting skills. Our self esteem is embedded in our career choices.
Our lives are a reflection of our personal self esteem. A positive, or "high" self esteem, is often mistaken as an over-inflated ego, which is usually a result of a negative, or '"ow" self esteem. You don't have to think about yourself, in order to have a self esteem. You just simply have one.
The repeated, "I can," is reinforcing a positive self esteem.
You cannot have a good attitude without a good self esteem.
"The self, the I, is recognized in every act of intelligence as the subject to which that act belongs. It is I that perceive, I that imagine, I that remember, I that attend, I that compare, I that feel, I that will, I that am conscious."
Sir W. Hamilton
