First Snowfall

Lucy looked outside on Friday morning to see snow on the ground. She was so excited - it was the first snowfall of the winter! School was delayed an hour that morning as the town plowed the four inches of snow off the roads. She looked forward to school with keen anticipation. She couldn't wait to chat online with her Northern friends during her study block. When she compared notes with them, it turned out that each of her friends had gotten snow that week, though all from different storms on different days - even different amounts! Determine the full name of her friends, where each of them lived, and on what day and how much snow each got.

1. The five friends were, in no particular order, Alice Parker, the person who lived in New York, the person whose last name is Smith, the person who got snow on Thursday, and the boy who got one inch of snow.

2. Five inches of snow fell in St. Paul, but not on Thursday. Harold lived in New York, but he didn't get snow on Wednesday. Jay got snow on Friday.

3. Gregory, whose last name wasn't Trip, didn't live in Cleveland. Mr. Ward didn't get snow on Tuesday. Brenda did not live in Chicago.

4. One town got two inches of snow on Monday. The person who got snow on Tuesday lived in St. Paul.

5. The girl from Richmond got the same amount of snow as Lucy did. The person whose last name was Trip got snow on Thursday.

6. Gregory got one inch less of snow than the person who lived in Richmond, but he got two more inches than the person whose last name was Crombie.
