Musical Chares

Chris and Carla Chare have always loved music. So, it came as no surprise when their four children each started playing a musical instrument. In fact, they were so good, each child now plays two! Cory, Carrie, Calvin, and Cindy each play one string instrument and one wind instrument. Can you figure out who plays what, and for how many years on each?

Boys: Cory, Calvin
Girls: Carrie, Cindy
String Instruments: Violin (music with Treble Clef), Viola (music with Alto Clef), Cello (music with Bass Clef), Bass (music with Bass Clef)
Years Played (Stringed Instruments): 4, 6. 7, 8
Wind Instruments: Flute, Saxophone, Trumpet, Clarinet
Years Played (Wind Instruments): 2, 3, 4, 5

1) Either Carrie plays the bass and trumpet, or Cindy plays the viola and flute.

2) Only Carrie has played her wind instrument longer than her stringed one.

3) The boys have played their string instruments for the longest amount of time, and their wind instruments for the shortest amount of time.

4) The violin has been played seven years.

5) Cory and Carrie read from the same clef when playing their string instruments.

6) While the clarinet has only been played for two years, the cello has been in the Chare family for a grand total of eight years!

7) Calvin plays the trumpet.
