Situation
Situation puzzles (sometimes called lateral thinking puzzles) are ones where you need to ask lots of yes or no questions to figure out what happened in the situation. These are good puzzles for groups where one person knows the puzzle and answers the questions.Situation
Ms. Finicky held up a fist full of blue ribbons. "My great grandmother's cat, dear Horris, won the 5 very first cat shows ever!" she declared. "Why can't he be in the Cat Hall of Fame?" She broke into dramatic sobs, and flung the ribbons for effect. "I've even got newspaper articles from 1869, which picture him with his ribbons!" She sobbed. The Cat Hall of Fame representative escorted her out of the office. Why wouldn't they let Horris in?
Hint
The cat doesn't need to be living, if that's what you thought. And only official cat shows count.Answer
Horris couldn't have won cat shows in 1869 because the first official cat show wasn't until July of 1871, in Great Britain at the London's Crystal Palace. Organized by Harrison Weir, 160 cats competed for $100 prize money.Ms. Finicky's articles proved to be fake. She really wanted her 15 minutes of fame.
