Brain Teasers
Perfect Mother
Seven sons she has, this loving mother,
One is aloof, the other with a temper;
Four are gifted with rings of wonder,
The last, to his mom none is dearer.
She also has two daughters, we gather
Like twins, close to each other.
We know one for her air and laughter,
Hot, dazzling and beautiful, the sister.
Her names, one too many to remember,
But all known to a devote follower, To you, to me and to every wanderer, She is arguably the perfect mother.
Question: What are the names of the mother and her dearest son?
Who were gifted rings?

Question: What are the names of the mother and her dearest son?
Who were gifted rings?
Answer
The mother is the sun.The dearest (closest to his mom) is Mercury.
Pluto is aloof (distant, dark and cold).
Mars has a temper (god of war, and the volcano in mars).
Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune all have planetary rings (Saturn's being in the thousands).
Earth and Venus are the daughters. Twins they are often called because they are close to each other.
Earth is known for air (oxygen that sustains life) and laughter (living beings laugh).
Venus is the hottest planet, dazzling and beautiful from Earth.
The sun's names are many. Sun, Star, Phobos etc. from science and even literature.
Wanderer refers both to people (who will all die) and planets (wanderer is root of the name).
The sun is a perfect mother giving warmth, light and is always there.

Phobos is a name for one of Mars's Moons (Phobos and Deimos)
Nice teaser though
Nice teaser though
Thanks. You are right about the moon but Phobo also refers to the sun. See Merriam-Websters. Smile, always smile.
Good job, very creative
Your lines are very well though out. Rhyming Riddles are probably my favorite (next to logic). Another gem Griphook.
Good one! The fact that there are nine children is almost a give-away, but not many people would know that FOUR planets in our solar system have rings :-)
Keep 'em coming
Keep 'em coming
I think you will find that Mercury is the hottest planet, being closest to the sun, not Venus, which I am sure is quite hot, but not as hot.
thats not true mad-ade, sorry... check out this link and you will see why. www.physlink.com/Education/AskExperts/ae425.cfm
Venus is the hottest planet. Smile.
It was pretty hard. I'm sure I'm not the only one who thought I read to fast and missed the names. It's a really good brain teaser. I'm sure my friends will enjoy it.
Excellent riddle!
That was a great riddle! I'm adding it to my favorites. And thatnx for telling me that venus is the hottest plant!
Oops, i mean planet!
Good teaser! Venus is the hottest planet, as it has more carbon dioxide, which traps the heat on the planet. It's called the Greenhouse effect (one of the few things I learned in science class)
My thanks to all of you.

Many thanks Rosey.
Another great riddle by you. And this time, it even rhymes!

I just started going on this site a few days ago and clicked on most popular riddles. They were all good, but I thought your riddle was amazing, no one in my house could solve it. Did you make it up or did you find it in a book?

Loved this one too-somoene mentioned 'phobos'- it comes from the greek root- fear which is related because of mars: the god of war and his attendants "fear and panic" which are mars' moons. very fun!
thanks
grip, you really don't have to respond to all your comments.
Great teaser Griphook. I love astronomy, but you still stumped me.
thanks monique114

I kept going with mother earth, trying to figure out seven seas, til I focused more on the "rings." Now on my fave list, this one!
thanks
Excellent.
I had to go and find info on the rings to be sure.
Beatiful teaser (and most commented, I see).

Very Excellent teaser ... Nothing to add ... Oh yes i almost forgot not to bother youi will say this instead of you : Thanx Every one
that's kinda hard
I thought it was easy.Got it in my first try.But still, very creative
Nice teaser, but I was a bit perturbed... Mother = Earth. Father = Sun. Or at least in every reference I've been around.
Will take note of that. thanks
Very well thought out teaser. I also explored the wrong lead (Mother Earth), so didn't figure Venus and Earth as the sisters. But everything else made perfect sense.
The Venus reference to beauty made me think of Roman mythology (which led me around in circles for quite a while, might I add!)
Thanks for the brain work-out!

The 4 with rings gave me the answer.
Fantastic riddle, keep up the god work!
Fantastic riddle, keep up the god work!
I sort of got it.
Hey--when I was done reading the teaser, I realized your name was "Griphook." If I'm not very much mistaken, that is the name of a goblin at Gringotts Bank in the Harry Potter books.
Easy but fun and very creative!
