There is a chemical that is very dangerous. If this chemical is inhaled, it may be fatal. Under certain conditions, contact with the skin can cause a burn. However, once a person's body becomes dependant on this chemical, prolonged separation from this chemical can cause death. However, even though many people know of this chemical, and it is found in nearly every drinking source, nothing is being done to try to get rid of it. Why is nothing being done about this chemical?
Hint
This is a real chemical. Think about everything that is being said.Answer
No one does anything about it because the chemical is water.Hide Hint Show Hint Hide Answer Show Answer

is h20 a chemical???
Technically, I think it is.
But I could be wrong lol
So under what condition does waster burn your skin?
When it is heated.
When are you NOT dependant on water?
Water is an element, not a chemical!
To make everyone happy, substitute chemical with substance, ok?
water is not an element, its a compound. i looked it up.
Just wondering, when is water not in a drinking source?
Interesting comments. Water H2O is a chemical compound (hence chemical) of 2 atoms of hydrogen (an element) and 1 atom of oxygen (another element). Alas, those poor old fellas on skid row with their brown paper bags might be attempting a drinking source such as methylated spirits which would contain no water but other than that most fluids we would attempt to drink from our mother's milk to a cold schooner (That's Australian for beer) would contain a high percentage of water.
An easy teaser!
An easy teaser!
Thanks jimbo!
One thing I liked about this teaser is that it plays on peoples' misconception about what a "chemical" is. Most people think that chemicals are only things that are manmade and bad for you. I don't know how many times I've heard someone say "yeah, but that's a chemical, so it must be bad for you, right?" Here's a quick rule of thumb: EVERYTHING is a chemical. Chemistry is the study of matter. Matter is defined as anything that has mass and takes up space. So in other words, if you can touch it, it's a chemical (or a lot of combined chemicals). Water, air, rocks, trees, birds, YOU. Everything.
That's great!
Hey, you guys should read my one called 'the thing' it is nearly the same as this one.

I knew that!
If it is inhaled, you may get tuberculosis. "Under certain conditions"(hot), it can cause a burn. People need water for survival.
FACT: You survive longer with only water than only food.

If you inhaled water you could drown. You may be OK if you swallowed it
GOOD ONE
oh you must be talking about that dangerous Di-Hydrogen Monoxide again.
Sounds like the Dihydrogen Monoxide thing
Two HUGE problems w/this one:
1) "There is a chemical that is very dangerous" is simply wrong, and
2) ". . .once a person's body becomes dependant (sic) on this chemical," which implies that there is a process by which your body becomes dependent. Or that there is a point when your body is NOT dependent on it. Also simply wrong.
