Jen and her friend Mump have just finished playing a game. They left a game for you. However, it isn't the game they played. Their game for you is a name game, which plays like this:
Given the title of their game: "JEN VS Mump" Discover the names hidden in their match title. They said this would help you:
As for the names and their number we give you this inkling,
The lone micro-stride is closest to what we're thinking.
The names in total are 3 by 3 of a kind,
You may find fame when you arrive, more so if others there you find.

Answer
The names are:JUPITER
EARTH
NEPTUNE
VENUS
SATURN
MARS
URANUS
MERCURY
PLUTO
(JEN VS MUMP) is actually M V E M J S U N P scrambled.
As for the names and number of names you had these hints:
-"One small step" (Neil ARMSTRONG'S QUOTE) or "lone micro-stride" is the closest man has come to what were thinking. Man has gone to the Moon (which is close), but not the Planets.
- They number 3 by 3 or 9 of a kind: 9 names 9 planets.
- You may very well be famous if you landed or arrived on any of these planets. Even more so if you found others there.

You missed Neptune
Past me, Past the Editors but not passed you. Thanks. I'll get that fixed. How did you like the teaser though?
[Past] not [passed] I hate misusing words.

You missed Neptune in your explanation

Hmm... I wasn't going to comment further on your teaser, Codammanus, but you asked for one. What kind of cruel parents would name their kid Mump or is that a nickname? Wouldn't it have been better to say Jennifer Paterson and her mother and then shorten it to Jen P vs mum? Why is JEN VS in capitals? That really threw me off. Anyway as you asked for "names hidden", so I started looking for anagrams or at least names that could be made from those letters, like: Eve, Esme, June, Pepe, Sven, Jesse, Mump, etc. I thought that's what you were getting at, so I clicked the answer. The names you were looking for were not hidden in the title, only the first letter of the names. Maybe you should have hinted at that. Talking of hints, you put yours in the form of a poem, which means you have to use words that rhyme and sometimes don't make sense. Like inkling & kind. Did you mean that there are only nine kinds of planets? "The lone micro-stride" translates to "One small step"! That's a whole teaser in itself. And this is "closest to what we're thinking"! How so? Neil Armstrong's quote is closest to the names of the planets? Perhaps you could explain a little more. "find fame when you arrive" - here you mean when I set foot on another planet (not likely to ever happen). I thought you were talking about arriving at the solution. "if others" - here you are talking about other beings, not other planets or other names. Your hint really confused me rather than helping. I hope you take all of this as constructive criticism not just ranting. Overall it's a good teaser in the way that you found a different angle to approach "What does MVEMJSUNP stand for?". Keep on making more teasers, yours are some of the best ones on this site.
Nice one. And that was one of the longest comments I've seen Anonymous.
I accept. (Smile) As Griphook says: Smile, always Smile.
Oh, and don't think I CAN'T respond in depth, or DON'T have explanations for your points. I will just let your voice be yours. Ask Tissue have I changed.
I couldn't help it:
1.GREAT Suggestion: Shortening actual names, rather than using Jen and Mump (and yes, I thought of these as nicknames).
2.The CAPS are a typo. I wanted to get that resolved, but didn’t think it was necessary. (I guess it mattered).
3.Hidden means just that HIDDEN. Perhaps I should have said DEEPLY HIDDEN. (But your brain was certainly off to a good start, with regard to thinking with your reasoning on the Anagrams. Really working. I like that).
4. Hint what? I abandoned HINTS a long time ago. (I think).
5.Were you reading the same rhyme I was? INKLING rhymes with THINKING and KIND with FIND. (Read it again).
6.Name the 10th or 11th planet KNOWN to man. -Please.
7.In context Jen and Mump are doing the thinking, and they are thinking of the names of the 9 KNOWN planets.
8.One small step on the MOON is the closest man has come to the NINE plantes, which again was what Jen and Mump (excuse their names) were thinking about
.
9.You make a GOOD point with the use of ARRIVE. I should have said “IF you should ever arrive” or something. Duly noted.
10.THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TAKING THE TIME TO EXAMINE MY THOUGHTS. (That means a lot to me. Seriously).

I see inkling sort of rhymes with thinking, but can an inkling really be given? Don't they just come to one- like hunches? And kind rhymes with find! Are you trying to say that 3 by 3 is only sometimes 9? Yes, there are only 9 known planets in our solar system and a few others outside of it, but as far as I know there are only 3 or 4 different kinds of planets. Please don't ask me for exact details... one kind are the small ones near the sun(s), another kind is the large gaseous ones and another kind is the ones far from the sun(s). Please no more caps!
You made me Smile! Thanks.
wow cod this was tough. I gave up I wasn`t even close but the comments where great.3 smiles the them.I think I`ll have to leave these brain busters for dsquared and griphook too figure out I``ll just stick to the comentary
what the heck?????
Technically, we are all standing the closest we have come to the nine planets.........Earth is a planet, and you didn't leave it out of the group........just thought i'd point that out. Good teaser though.
Also, in response to name the 10th or 11th planet......some astronomers believe that the pluto/charon system is more like a double planet system rather than a planet and it's moon. This is due to the fact that charon is only about 1/2 the size of pluto. All other planet's moons are quite small compared to their parent planet. Just a thought.......
