Brain Teasers
Missing Street
Trick
Trick brain teasers appear difficult at first, but they have a trick that makes them really easy.Trick
In a country, there are over 100 streets. Street 1 is named First Street, street 2 is named Second Street, and so on and so forth.
A traveller decides to walk through all these streets in the country. He could find all the streets except Street 62. No matter how hard he tried, he could not find it.
He later found that the locals had given the street another name.
What is the name?
A traveller decides to walk through all these streets in the country. He could find all the streets except Street 62. No matter how hard he tried, he could not find it.
He later found that the locals had given the street another name.
What is the name?
Hint
What would the street name have been if it followed the pattern?Answer
Minute street. This is because Street 62 is named Sixty Second Street, and Sixty Seconds = 1 Minute, hence Street 62 is also called Minute Street.Hide Hint Show Hint Hide Answer Show Answer

Cool teaser though
Cute. I was saying sixty second over and over to myself, and still didn't get it!
Hee hee I got it immediately! But it is a really good teaser, I'm not not trying to put it down or anything - well done! (I can't seem to get any of my teasers accepted... )
Hey, got me!
I was reading sixtieth instead of Sixty, so I was totally misplaced on this one.

This Is One Of The Best Teaser I've Read, It's One Of Those Teasers That Makes You Wanna Slap Yo Self, Cause It's Easy. Good Job
very good but very easy
I also got as far as sixty-second street but didn't make the connection to a minute. Time flew by me on this one! Good teaser.
That was really clever! Does that mean the street is a small one? (minute!)
Someone has to say it....It took me a minute.....but I loved it.
Thanks

I probably would have gotten this if it was not the middle of the night. This was a no brainer once I looked at the answer.

Great teaser! That 60 seconds equals a minute didn't click with me until I looked at the answer.

Great Job! I really like this one!
May 12, 2005
This one got me. Great job
That was a fun one. My kids are going to love it when they get home.
I hate to be the one dissenter, but I didn't like this one. It's a stretch to make that connection. There are much better teasers here. Sorry, just one guy's opinion!
No stretch there!
Sorta easy, though!
Sorta easy, though!
Nice one! THe most original out of the few I've read so far
no offence or anything but i didn't get it and didn't like it. it could have been called a lot more things than Minute Street if u think about it. but that is just my opion.
The brilliance in this teaser is the fact that the answer is so obvious when you see then answer, but so apparently difficult to achieve.
Fulantino and Infernogirl - you are lacking the ability to admit you failed to get the answer.
Brain Dead - you are just acting your name with your pathetic comment.

All I can say is... Cool
that's great i liked it !!!
clever, witty and a charming teaser, this goes strait to my favs
At first i didn't understand it. But I get it now.A very good riddle indeed.
Oh, another groaner! These are so sneaky and that's what makes a teaser like this so much fun. Great job. More please.
A fantastic teaser! Couldnt get it, though.
I beat my head against a wall when I looked at the answer. So easy, yet so hard. Good one.
Good one... It took a moment or two, I had to stop thinking and start listening.
Love it. You know, FDR was president for more than half a minute. No one ever laughs when I tell that joke.
Im glad so many people liked it! I WOULD HAVE liked it a lot. But, it wasn't worded correctly for one minute street or whatever to be the answer.
1: you give examples that, street 1 is first street, street 2 is second street.
Then you say: But, he couldn't find Street 62 (notice how this is the same as the above examples: street 1, street 2, Street 62)
3)the locals call it something else, what do they call it? Considering that it's a TRICK teaser, and the info given, the only answer would be: They call it Sixty-second Street.
This may seem too obvious but in "Trick" teasers, the answer often is obvious and simple.
To make it correct, all that's required is to say "He couldn't find Sixty-second Street." Then ask: what was the other name the locals had for it? I wonder if you avoided that because it makes it too easy? I don't know, maybe it would be too easy that way, but I don't agree with making it harder by making it esseentially incorrect. Sorry, the idea is really good, and most people seem to have really loved it and weren't bothered by any inconsistencies, and if it was just worded slightly differently, I think it would be a FANTASTIC teaser! Still, thanks for the hard work and brain power put into writing this. Thanks!

I had to use the hint, but then I got it right away. Good teaser.
That was AWSOME!! I didn't get it, though. Great job!! Keep up the great work. We need more teasers like this. (One where everyone can't prove that it's wrong somehow with technicalities!)
You're being a bit pedantic Shawneeo but you write beautiful prose.
Good teaser too!
Good teaser too!
Not bad - certainly stumped me!
This is a great teaser!! It sure had me stumped, and when I saw the answer, I thought, "Well, DUH!" And I'm surprised Imurray hasn't popped in with his usual snide remarks yet.
I wouldn't call those thoughts of shawneeo's "pedantic." I LOVE the teaser , but I don't think I could have ever figured it out ... not even with the hint. WORDING is tricky when creating these things. You want it difficult enough to tease, but you do want it DO-able. That's a tough balance.
Wow, that one realy stumped me! Nice teaser!
great one you got me good...felt pretty dumb when i looked at the answer
Thoughi did not get it. I should have. The answer was a hoot.
EVEN I ENJOYED THIS ONE.
GOOD JOB!!
GOOD JOB!!
This was REALLY EASY, but in a good way because it is really fun & funny! Well dun! It is one of the coolest puzzles I hav seen so far!
Cute! Odd, though.
may thumbs up on this one. Love word-play
I thought... well after reading the hint... I thought how they it said that he couldn't find Street 62, that it would have been named sixty second street... and not Street 62... u know what I mean?
I just wanted to add a comment, because I wanted to be the 90th person... so there! i did it...
I'm such a nerd aren't i?
(I take proud in that fact... sometimes...)

(I take proud in that fact... sometimes...)
For some reason, I found this teaser easy today... must have been on the right wave-length for a change. Nice one to take to work.
Nice one I got the sixty second part meaning minute after I thought about it for a while great joke
Pretty darn easy but a fun story. Thanks!
Haha didnt get the answer... GOOD ONE!!!
Excellent I would never have got it in a million years A FAVORITE
didnt get it obviously a great one if i the ruler of the world smartest of them all couldnt get it lol jk
wait i'm confused wouldn't 60 St be called minute street?
Nice! I needed a giggle!
fun 1. didn't take it to a minute though - stopped at 60 Second St.
cute and clever! i love it! great teaser, i hope to see more of these!
Very witty and well written teaser
i was stumped!
i was stumped!

i loved it despite the wording
great job!

great job!
Great job! I liked it really well, even though i didn't get it! I thought it was 62nd street!
that was the most rubbish teaser ever!! and i odnt get it! AHH!!! there isnt 62 seconds in a minute!
I'm surprised at anyone who had a problem with this teaser.
Any one who had a problem with the wording should have read it out loud. And as far as there not being 62 seconds in a minute think before you speak. The 2 represents the word second. GREAT TEASER.
Amazing thinking! Awesome riddle, pal.
Good one!! My 1st time here..I loved it. Got the sixty-second ok, but went "duh"when I saw the answer. GREAT JOB!!
Love this one!! Got it in 1/30th of a minute!
Cute, but too easy.
omg! i love this one lol
I wanna read all ya brain teasers lol ur the best one i ever saw!
great job kiddo
I wanna read all ya brain teasers lol ur the best one i ever saw!

♥ u!
love it!
love it!
I ALMOST got it! I said out loud, Sixty second, then jumped the gun and said Hour street. LOL- what a dummy.
Good one anyway.
Good one anyway.
Great!
Lol! As soon as I read this teaser aloud, I got it. Simple and deceiving! ExceLlent teaser!
Those locals are JERKS.
Sorry. I got stuck on the plural versus singular; Sixty Second Street is not Sixty Seconds Street. Was another street called Thirty Seconds? Could call that one Half Minute Street, I guess, if that were the case but it is not so here. 62nd is not sixty seconds.
Cute!
That is so cute!! And brilliant!!!
the last couple of teasers have ben great..i dont think they can get any better....
It was great!!! I loved it.
And, the wording is fine...Keep up the great job.
And, the wording is fine...Keep up the great job.
I guess you have to be "street smart" to get this one.......tee hee lol

l8tr g8trs, kitty
I remember reading this one a long time ago...needless to say, it still gives a smile the second time around.
i didn't get it untill i read some of the reviews . good teaser
This is my all time favorite teaser!! Nice JOB!!!
Haha.. Niice one. Very clever! I couldn't get it for the longest time until I got my gifted friend to take a look. XD Keep it up!
I am among the many who could only come up with 62nd st....but because the category was trick, I knew i wasn't 'getting' it. Good job
"and so on and so forth" tells you that if street 1 is 1st street and street 2 is 2nd street, street 62 should be 62nd street. I don't normally get many of these quizes, but i got this one pretty fast. If you didn't get it, fair enough, but blaming the quiz when so many other people got it is a bit unfair! Top one Silver_Sword!
Kudos Silver Sword. I got it but with the clue. think it was worded perfectly
I like it . Shawnee whatever
To the girl who thought "hour" don't worry blame it on info. overload. WRITE SOME MORE Silversword

It took me a whole MINUTE
My my how we get so passionate with our comments. I really liked this one. Bet there's one heck of a party on ninety fifth st.
oh my gosh i was like it is only 60 seconds in a minute not 62 and i read some comments and you meant 62nd street! like sixty seconds
A good teaser which makes you think a little. loved it!
I can't believe some people are picking on the wording, I thought it was fine as written. I must admit that I like the comments as well as the teaser. It's great that people feel strongly enough to have an ongoing dialogue, sort of like a debate. Excellent, keep up the good work, please.
good one
omg! I was going to comment saying that there were 60 sec. in a minute and not 62, and then i was like "i feel so retarded. It's sixty second, and not sixty second," so then my dad said (jokingly) "u sound retarded 2." i am so slow. it was good, god. i still cant believe it took me so long to get. thanks for an awsome teaser. i like feeling dumb every once in a while.
Thats great I love it keep them coming
LOL my first thought was Main Street, every town has one of course! Then I read the hint and had a "doh" moment! Fun teaser!
i dont like it
shawneeo yor getting to technical this is supposed ot be fun
so easy and yet.....
Sometimes I just have to read them outloud!
very cute but went right over my head
I didn't even get this on my second attempt! Blah!
Sorry- double post...but I thought it was very fun even tho I didn't get it!
Too cute! You got me
Very clever. I could only get it wiht the hint though. still, it made me laugh!
great teaser i was stumped also
Woohoo!! I wasn't tricked!! I was kinda stumped at first, but then I basically did what the Hint said to do .. and said "sixty second street" out loud and realized what the trick to the teaser was!! Verry cute teaser!!!
Once I looked at the hint, it was a piece of cake. Without the hint, my mind wouldn't have made the right leap.
Great teaser!!
Great teaser!!
cool
awsome.........I don't think I would get it even if I was smart!
Didn't get it. Still kinda don't. I'm sure some brilliant part of my subconscious loves it though.
Ha! I got it after the hint. I love when that happens. Brilliant!
Great teaser!
it's extremely funny to hear shawneeo sound so completely confident when s/he is absolutely wrong with his/her statements and reasoning. The teaser was worded correctly, DID in fact present a twist, and the answer was clever. It is simply sour grapes to try and pick it apart, and embarrassing to do it in such an incorrect analysis.
and to baliset, the answer is indeed accurate as "Sixty Second" without needing to be pluralized. If you go to a theme park, you might take a "sixty second" ride on a coaster, but not a "sixty seconds" ride. A 60 second ride could then be called a "minute ride," so your argument is empty and like shawneeo, quite incorrect for being so pompous.
I was a math and engligh major in school and can assure you that the logic AND wording in this puzzle is intelligent, correct, and very clever. And judging by the ratings and comments, I'm glad to see most people agree despite the few uncompensated folk.
Well done, Silver Sword! It was a delight!

I GOT IT!!!!!! awesome teaser btw...keep em comin
Great Teaser - a true classic 'Trick' in my opinion. So many of this section are just corny or stupid, and very predictable replays on the same tired themes.
Thanks for writing it - and before someone complains about re-runs, THANKS for running it again ... coz I hadn't seen it and even-if-I-had-I'd-be-happy-to-see-it-again!

I was thinking "The Musical" street. Then I realized that was 42nd Street, not 62nd Street.
Nice one. I didn't get it, but I can't complain because it makes perfect sense! Cheers
I heard this one somewhere, but I forgot it. Definitely going to remember this one!
...and i wrote it out too.
...and i wrote it out too.
Good one! I didn't get it, but I forgot to check the hint.
Good one.
said it loud and got the answer:-)
Lots of readers liked it, and some did not like it, and some thoughjt the wording was wrong. I enjoyed all those comments more than the teaser. They made me laugh and I get that!
Seen this before and enjoyed it, even tried it on some friends who were stumped by it. To get around having to say 62nd second street or street 62, I worded it :The street between 61st and 63rd was not named like the others, but the name is logical and makes complete sense in the circumstance. What as this street named?"
Today, my comment is- A very HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to all you mothers.
I liked the quiz, but I needed the hint. and I also liked Cutebug's comment. Thanks, CB.
FOX DIGS THIS RIDDLE!!
That was fantastic! I love that it was just the perfect level of difficulty that's needed in a good brain teaser: not too much stretching to get to the answer, and not so simple that it's a bore. Great job!!

Just wanted to add my opinion, here (as BadBunnee02)
I had commented above - years ago - with my Dad under a different screen-name.
This is STILL one of my favs. SOOOOO illustrative of the "intuitive-leap" concept of creative ideation.
If you can't make the "intuitive leap" (and have no OTHER clue about the answer), then you'll never solve it.
